  • ~NEVER SHOW RELIGIOUS Prejudice~

Unless one religion is full of truth & light, (Christianity is the greatest provider of Health Care, Charity & Education in the World) & the other, Islam, incites institutionalized murder & terror in imitation of its founder Mohammad.

Christ didn't kill, but raised the dead :-)

Sure, men will always murder - but in great contradiction to Jesus' example & in great similitude to Mohammad's.

  • this is the best song of all mike oldfields carreer i think love it somthing special and the sounds erie ooh gone cold

  • The most promising young Kentuckian !

  • I love Adrian's voice singing the word "Holy." His voice on "Helicopters," "Model Man," and "Young Lions, " describing Jesus' crucifixion, is angelic.

  • @HowDareWe Yeah, professing your blind faith for one braindead religion while promoting the banning of another comes of as really intelligent. Keep your scrawny hypocrite arse away from good music, don't taint it with your bile.

  • @MrRubyscube Truth and eternal life are infinitely more important than intelligence and popularity.

  • @8noteflight it goes to show that religion is bad i say get rid of it all and let ppl just live. ur disgusting and need help

  • @HowDareWe You disgust me.

  • And a really nice guy! I met him twice, once on the Discipline tour and once with The Bears. He was posing for pics with us and having a good time backstage. The Twang bar KING!

PS, I was playing a friends Parker today for an hour or so, really nice neck and so light! Trem was pretty great too, a lot different than a FR, but I got used to it pretty fast.

  • god, he looks like he is having the time of his life up on that stage. i evny him so...

  • The instruments have are not plugged in at all. The jacks on the strats are completely open. The Keyboards have no cables attached. :)

    They are all lypsynching :)

  • @Eyzeday Not to mention Mike was "playing" with a busted string... See 2:28.

  • Oldfield plays the solo, Belew does the backup (and wonderfully). That tells us something.

  • dreadfull uugh 80's shit. Adrian would likely cringe watching this ... and then laugh of coarse .

  • Even been working with Jean-Michel Jarre on Zoolook.

  • this is a good track,,,,you go boys

  • Why is it so hip to bash melodic music nowadays?

  • Super cheezy music, stage and lyrics... What happened there???? The '80s strikes again???

  • Although I agree that "Earth moving" is Oldfield's worst album, somehow I like this one song.

  • Two good musicians playing a ridiculous music. Was it Carnival?

  • Unholy.... 8 o

  • Belew suits much better to such music rather than King Crimson.

  • I wonder if Belew or anyone else for that matter, in this video find themselves embarrassed.

  • @rorshakks, I doubt it, a gig is a gig and these guys might be friends, or just like working together. Adrian being the renowned genius he is, doesn't have to re-invent the wheel every time he does a gig. Let 'em do something mellow and cheezy, who cares.

  • yeah well...different music for different people, cause i see not everyone is totally agreeing with Belew's choice nor Oldfield's effort...anyways, great upload!! Love their work...when you're sold, you're sold!!

  • Adrian Belew is one of most uderrated

pro in the business of music... He was a

front men for Frank Zappa, King Crimson,

played with Talking Heads...the list goes on

    and on!

God bless Adrian Belew, keep on rocking!

  • @TO3A11 Don't forget Oldfield. His guitar/musical awesomeness virtually created Virgin Records with Tubular Bells.

  • @TO3A11

Let's not forget Laurie Anderson - Home Of The Brave :)

  • This could have been much better.

  • Love his music or not, Adrian goes for it all the time and he has been rewarded for his risk taking.

  • Man this is the best music ever written.. the 80's saved music..

  • i just hope this is sarcasm LOL

  • lol.

  • One of the two women looks like him

  • Love Below - but not always his choice of projects.

  • This is a song of its time ....... but it has nice guitars parts

  • I loved this song when i was fifteen years old. The i grew up and knew that it sucks. It´s interesting to se that a very talented Belew supports Oldfield. What does that tell us about Oldfield?

  • What did move you so far away from your old self then? What sort of music do you like nowadays? There's nothing wrong about the song, even to today's standards. I got to listen to a lot of crap on the radio all day long, starting with Lilly Allen and probably ending with Milo. It's just too honest for today's atste, I think. People find this sort of authenticity embarrassing....strange enough...

  • I still like some of Oldfields earlier works. And Amarok. Otherwise i listen to garagerock, protopunk, new wave, post-punk, grunge and a lot else. Right now i listen a lot to flamin groovies and talk talk. I agree that a lot of shit are played by the radiostations nowadays. This song however is from Oldfields worst album ever (earth moving). It sucks.

  • belew is not just a techinical player

in my opinion, he have a unique sensibility

thats why his songs sounds freaky for most of the people (including myself) and most of the songs are great

he have a gigantic and awesome career

this is funny, i don't like the song, but it's coll to see the guy singing and playing and, most important, believing in doing so

how many belews critics are in their rooms now only playing for themselves??? the guy is out there showing his music to people, taking the risk

  • Comment removed

  • Belew sure can sing, wonder how he fell into this thing

  • yea, seems like an odd pairing. Belew is a ridiculously talented guy.

  • I Love this, and it was huge in West Germany back in the day

  • O would believe so

  • It might be a "worse" Oldfield song but I love it and the guitars and its far more better than the crap which is produced nowadays by other "musicians"

  • Everybody else hates this song, I dig it.

  • Such a low point...

  • The "girls" giving local colour dance like the "Go-go"dancers of the 1960's that I remember and people laugh at now.Its true what's said "Don't throw that out, it's going to be back in hi-style in 30 more years".

  • gee WoW what classy men just awesum

  • 'Hostage' was the other song on the album that Adrian played on. I like it better than this.

Strange as it may sound, this album is why I started following Adrian Belew. My 2 favorite musicians were Oldfield and Laurie Anderson, and when I saw his name in both places, I started hunting down his solo stuff, which led to finding King Crimson.

so, not his best...but I'm still glad they made it.

  • Actually, "Far Country" was the song featuring a dual lead guitar solo by Oldfield and Belew. "Hostage" was sung by Max Bacon.

  • Holy ist eines meiner Lieblingssongs mit und von Mike!!! 5*

  • I think both are pretty kickarse guitarists and composers but, golly, this was a nadir for both of them. Still, at least they look like they're both having fun there. As was mentioned earlier, though, if Earthmoving was the trade-off for Amarok, it was worth it.

Incidentally they do actually trade solos on another song on the album, which is mainly schmaltz (barring one nice song in the Moonlight Shadow/To France vein where Maggie Reilly returns as a guest) but it's all too brief.

  • Well.. not unreasonably I think, I was hoping to see these two master guitarists trade solos, etc., but a pleasant if unremarkable little ditty. Mike can be heard to best effect on "Hergest Ridge", Adrian with King Crimson, Zappa or Bowie.

  • Hmmmm...this is a bit too new-agey for me. Or is it Corpo-Rock-ish? Reminds me of Cyndi Lauper's "All Through the Night".

  • huge mike oldfield fan here and i dont take kindly to your kinda wankers fuckin up the planet for the rest of us

  • raikougirl ....you are are a brain dead moron

  • what is so genius about this guy??mike is the genius, don't need eyes to see you need vision

  • check out belew in King Crimson.. You'll understand the genius of him

  • Adrian Belew genius

  • The Great Friendship and Love Celebration ! Vintage 80's rock ! And people love that... Wow.

  • Aal I vont to say iz dat in Djermany vie laaik zie good rockbaands laaik zie Scorpions und Europe and vie doont laaik ze Fransoozen und zie Theadrinkers from Inglaand !Merry Newyear everyboodie from ze Fritz

  • Belew , that's the man!

  • Both Oldfield and Belew have made some of the greatest and 'out-there' music of the last 35 years. So what if they have had to bow to commercial pressure occasionally? That's how they can carry on making CDs that don't make concessions.

  • It's not that it's a bad album, but yes it was a "commercial order".

Mike didn't like that, he was pissed at Virgin and Branson. In fact, is next album, "Amarok", was absolute contrary: a one-track 60 minutes album nothing commercial. On Amarok there is a morse message: "Fuck off RB" (for Richard Branson of Virgin).

  • I like that you can see Mike Oldfield has a broken string around the 2:30 mark. Then around 3:00 he gives the camera some face. Or rather, eyebrows. Nice of Adrian to wave to someone at the end too!

    Completely insane.

  • This is pretty bad lip sync. If you haven't notice, the guitars aren't pluged into any amps.

Holy? Should have been called 'The Power Of The Almighty Dollar'.

  • Oldfied is good on the instruments but Belew looks to be

    operating on his own fuel.

  • Germany loved the EARTH MOVING album. It hit number one there, and "Innocent" was a top ten smash single. This is one of my favorite of Oldfield's pop singles. Oldfield later said of EARTH MOVING "It was more an album the record company wanted, but I did get to experiment more with songs. It's part of my discography, and I'm not ashamed of it".

  • as a Belew fan, I think his voice is pretty damn fine

what the hell is wrong with this song?

  • Perhaps Wikipedia can shed some light on this disgusting phenomena:

"Earth Moving is a record album, written by Mike Oldfield. Songs are sung by various singers that Oldfield hired...According to Oldfield, the album was made with the full understanding of his recording company, which at the time was demanding he create more commercial material."

    Today's lesson: Never sell-out. Ever.

  • I was so weird that I couldn't help but watch.

  • since mr belew has played with EVERYONE I can overlook this small mishap. Mike Oldfield...*sigh*. Not like Belew's other collaborations e.g. paul simon, tom-tom club, crash test dummies.

  • Just makes you happy, doesn't it?

  • I can't remember why Oldfield sticks out in my head. Tubular Bells?

  • I´m sorry but i think this one is the most terrible thing i´ve ever heard of in my live from Adrian Belew.

  • I think you're right.

  • Guitarist with the Red Guitar broke his string.. and this is supposed to be lip sank?

  • The man with the red guitar is Mr. Mike Oldfield.

  • This is extremely gay.

  • Wow, didn't know any video footage of this song existed. Thanks for posting one of my favourite Mike Oldfield songs!

  • By the way - I didn't put this in my last post - Great video - THANK YOU for sharing jaimixx..

  • Adrian Belew has about as much talent as it is possible to have--Monster Player, superb songwriter, excellent singer, ingenious arranger---And he can play some of the most impossible riffs and figures on guitar WHILE SINGING as I have ever seen anyone do (esp with King Crimson).

    Maybe he has 2 brains?

In any case, this is a wonderful clip--Thanks so much for posting it!

  • I saw him recently and several times he did this thing where he played lines into a backwards delay and had them come out in time, all of this while singing! That is superhuman or something.

  • Listening to this, I cried. It's that beautiful a song.

  • A fascinating clip on so many levels, the bassist alone is priceless.

  • this is really cool....but.....I'm totally confused.

When and where was this shot? I had absolutely no idea Adrian played with Mike Oldfield. Thanks for this very unique clip.

  • I have no idea where this was shot, but the time frame is 1990. The studio version of this (this is a lip-synch, obviously)is on Oldfield's album "Earth Moving" which came out at nearly the same time that Adrian's "Young Lions" did. It was, as far as I know, a one-off guest shot. I always loved this song - I used to play it on my radio show..

  • I can guess this was shot in Germany as ZDF is a German teresstial channel.
