Staff infections happen when an open wound is infected by a bacteria that is found on about a third of the worlds populations skin. It is not caused by the size of the wound or what cut it.
I had one of those, an infection from my thumb worked its way up my arm. I was told if it reaches your heart, you're dead. Not from a pin prick tho.. from a half-inch cut..
um, we take care of those dirty sick people because they're infectious, and our tax-paying citizenry is too busy working and consuming to afford getting sick. it's not about being nice--it's about maintaining the health of the public. i'm a physician -- how did she "almost die" when she was in the hosp for only 1.5 days, probably just getting IV antibiotics for a cellulitis. she only had a superficial skin infection and did NOT have a blood infection, because if she had bacteria in the blood it would be GUARANTEED she'd be in the hospital for more than just 1.5 days and would have to be on a long course of antibiotics.
