  • Al Bowlly was killed by a parachute bomb which exploded outside of his hotel room during WWII.

  • Midnight....

  • Great song for an even greater movie. I could watch the movie 100 times without it getting old

  • "Great party! Isnt it?"

  • 3 people need correction

  • This song was the best thing about the movie. Such an overrated movie.

  • 3 People Should be locked up in that hotel

  • These songs make me cry. But at the good way. Oh my Lord, how perfect movie. My true love. Shining.

  • always gives me shivers in the ending

  • Let's drink some Bourbon :)

  • I love this song! And I want to get this soundtrack for Christmas! The movie is awesome, the book is even better, and now I want the soundtrack!

  • Leering Jack Nicholson sort of spoils the imagery...great song still.

  • Nostalgic about an era I unfortunately never got to be in. It was great entertainment wise, although not socially. The clothing was awesome too. Same for the 50s and the 60s in the united states.

  • @BUCKHEADATL It would have been great to live in this era; albeit to be as affluent as the people who appear in the movie who appear to be drinking, smoking, and socializing with their upper class buddies. I too feel nostalgic about this era, it is quite strrange that we should feel this way. Maybe it's the tune or something else.

  • "Overlook Hotel-July 4th Ball-1921"

  • All Work and No Play makes Jack a dull boy

  • I remember the commercial for this movie when I was a kid. It scared me to death!!! I would see his frozen face at the end of the movie, and wouldn't be able to sleep!

  • "Words of wisdom, Lloyd, words of wisdom."

  • *cheerfully* "Mr. Grady...you were the caretaker here. I recognise your picture from the newspapers. You, uh, chopped your wife and daughters up into little bits and then you blew your brains out.."

  • What will it be, Mr. Torrance?

Hair of the dog that bit me.

  • all I can say about King and Kubrick is that I've read "IT" and it might be the worst piece of garbage I've ever read, and I've watched "The Shining" and it might be the greatest horror film I've ever seen. It might be the best film I've ever seen period.

  • @fleamarket3000 Please be trolling about IT.

  • love this old song and what a classic horror film fantastic.

  • Best horror movie ever.

    Kubrick film > Book

I read the book and was a bit disappointed, considering that I like most of Stephen King's other books more than their respective movies.

  • Lol I have the original recording of this song, witch was made in 1934, yet in the movie it is used in a scence for the year 1921!!lol =P

  • What's the song that plays in various parts throughout the film, like when Danny is talking to Jack in the bedroom?

  • @OniWoIf The Shining Soundtrack - Music For Strings, Percussion, & Celesta

  • Hummmmm good song

  • July 4th Ball, 1921... Great tune!

  • God have this song on his I pod

  • Wonderful movie and marvellous song... They're just perfect!

  • Two of the greatest musicians from the era died in WWII. Bowlly during the London Blitz when a bomb exploded near his apartment and Glenn Miller, when his plane was shot down while on a mission to perform for the troops

  • i wanna play this song at my wedding *sigh* great song!

  • "I'm sorry to differ with you sir, but YOU are the caretaker. You've always been the caretaker. I should know sir. I've ALWAYS been here."

  • @TheAltair4

This movie introduced me to Kubrick with 2001 when i was 13 years old

  • @TheAltair4

It's a nice classy song that fits the mood of the scene and ending

  • I love this song. It's very beautiful.

  • This movie was a-maze-ing

    /bad pun

  • @JudgeMagisterDelita ain't to bad! made me laugh!

  • I corrr-rected them, sir.

  • You've always been the Hotel's caretaker, Mr. Torrance.

  • Al Bowlly was killed during the London blitz of 1940-1941.

  • I love this song, it is soo haunting.

  • Wonderful song, greatly remastered sound...

  • @vonFalkenstein77 I "remastered" this recording, if you want to call it that :) I did it probably around 1997-98 with CoolEdit Pro on my PC. The original recording was a transfer from 78. I tried to declick it as much as possible, without destroying the highs, then added hall echo via the software. I made a few copies of the music for friends and it's been duped by a million people in the years since.

  • @vonFalkenstein77 A rather...naughty song, if I may be so bold

  • @TheAgwoodliffe "Naughty"...WTF are you talking about?

  • All time favorite movie... great tune!! :)
