Nostalgic about an era I unfortunately never got to be in. It was great entertainment wise, although not socially. The clothing was awesome too. Same for the 50s and the 60s in the united states.
@BUCKHEADATL It would have been great to live in this era; albeit to be as affluent as the people who appear in the movie who appear to be drinking, smoking, and socializing with their upper class buddies. I too feel nostalgic about this era, it is quite strrange that we should feel this way. Maybe it's the tune or something else.
I remember the commercial for this movie when I was a kid. It scared me to death!!! I would see his frozen face at the end of the movie, and wouldn't be able to sleep!
"It's 4 o clock in the morning, my parents just went away to the airport for a week, I'm home alone, the first thing that popped into my mind was to play this song loudly, and stand in the livingroom downstairs with the lights off.
*cheerfully* "Mr. Grady...you were the caretaker here. I recognise your picture from the newspapers. You, uh, chopped your wife and daughters up into little bits and then you blew your brains out.."
all I can say about King and Kubrick is that I've read "IT" and it might be the worst piece of garbage I've ever read, and I've watched "The Shining" and it might be the greatest horror film I've ever seen. It might be the best film I've ever seen period.
Two of the greatest musicians from the era died in WWII. Bowlly during the London Blitz when a bomb exploded near his apartment and Glenn Miller, when his plane was shot down while on a mission to perform for the troops
@vonFalkenstein77 I "remastered" this recording, if you want to call it that :) I did it probably around 1997-98 with CoolEdit Pro on my PC. The original recording was a transfer from 78. I tried to declick it as much as possible, without destroying the highs, then added hall echo via the software. I made a few copies of the music for friends and it's been duped by a million people in the years since.
why cover picture?

I got a big house, so the acoustics are good.
I just needed to get that shining feeling lol."

Best horror movie ever.
Kubrick film > Book
I read the book and was a bit disappointed, considering that I like most of Stephen King's other books more than their respective movies.
