  • hi man great lesson and great playing thanks its realy nice to have a lovely piece played and explained this way

  • WoW, just after this, I think I wanna marry you :D

great tutorial, i wanted to play the moonlight sonata for so long but it just got boring learning it by notes..but with this tutorial i finally managed to do it!

and, of course, just rewind a scene if you haven't understood it...otherwise there would be 100 parts of "how to play moonlight sonata" and THAT would get your goat, friends ;) so just learn learning faster :D

  • Good tutorial.!!

  • I like to be learned by u!

  • Am I the only one who is able to keep up with him??

  • @ItalianStallion919 high five! me too :P

  • @ItalianStallion919 That's great, but you also have to keep in mind that some of the people watching these videos may not have been playing for a long time. For example, I started playing piano 2-3 weeks ago and it took me like 2 hours to get the first part down to a point where I could play at an even tempo.

  • @OhYesLightShow This. This is true lol your right :P

  • if its too fast..just pause and write the notes down ppl!!

  • good work i love it !!

can u make a tutorial for into the dark by sebastion larsoon plz!! thank u!!

  • HI,

thanks for this tutorial. Something is confusing to me though.

At 3:55, judging from the score, the E in the left hand should be an octave lower than the one you play.

  • @TheGammaxBreex There are 10 parts....

  • @TaylorSwift1OV3 Oh dear Jesus,

  • can you please slow down? this song is supp to be played very slowly. Hint to Wilhelm Kempff

  • Thanks a ton. Have always loved the song & now I can play it anytime I want...well, at least the first 2 parts. haha! Thanks for the help!

  • As much as I love your tutorials, I picked back on Moonlight Sonata and I don't understand what is going on. Even after I rewind millions of times.

  • It may be easy for you...but for the begginers its a tad fast. slow down man.

  • i hate beinga hater, but you need to go SLOWER AND CLEARRRER

  • 7:59

  • 3:35

  • 1:17

  • Thank you so much JJ ! ^_^

  • Thank you very much, you helped me

  • JJ ... You do good work.Thank you so much!. Watch your videos and the way you are teaching, i can remember the notes much better ... but i am confussing at the minute " 5:54 ". My hands are not Big like yours ... i tried by my best but i can't touch the " high C " ... what should i do? I tried to changed the " high C " to the " B " ... Is it ok? Or anything else better? ...

  • @PhamLily Hi PhamLily, if you can't reach both together I would suggest just playing the "high C". The same with the upcoming BA# stretch if you have trouble with reaching that just try playing the A# by itself. Both sound fine. Hope that helps :)

  • oh I already get it.. never mind XD

  • so at 7:18, than I have to repeat the whole B section again or? Which piece do we have to repeat.. I do not get that tottaly..

  • I have the same keyboard, do you use the pedal?

  • thanks for the notes in the description bar, they really helped! :D

  • I paused each section and started from the very beginning each time, great for remembering and perfecting each part as you go along!

It's not too fast when you can pause each bit and practice, Don't expect to remember it all in 7-8 minute doses...

  • part 1 i learned fast but this is too fast to learn

  • i really apprciate your tutorial, you are super tutor,it's not fast at all,thx you so much.god bless you. we love you

  • You're not going too fast in my opinion, all I do is pause and play. Hahah. Great job, I actually learned this from you! =]

  • I was like "Yeaaa part 1 was dumb easy" then I look at this one and I'm like... O_O omg.

  • To fast!!!!!!! (#>_<)

  • I don't mind how fast your going, but you could slow it down. I just rely on the notes in the description but sometimes you miss some, so could you just recheck them?

  • i appreciate this so much. thank you good sir.

  • You missed B,B, D#, F# after B, D#, F# x2 in your notes.

  • hmm

  • Thanks a lot for the tutorial! Had been wanting to learn how to play this song forever.

  • Agh eats going on part 1 was way slower u r going to fast can't even pause it on time :(

  • IF U HAVE TO KEEP UNDER THE TIME LIMIT THEN MAKE TWO VIDEOS THEN!!!!! JEBUS THIS IS FAST!

  • i have to learn the entire first movement in 3 days! D: It is soooo much!

  • I have part 1 sorted.. now it's time for part 2 ... I am loving these I just bought a keyboard 4 weeks ago and i'm playing Beethoven.yaay. ty so much for these tutorials :) ps. my fingers hurt lol

  • sllloooow dooown lol

  • Thank you so much for your tutorials. I just finished part II. Your videos are pure motivation for me. I guess that I will never learn playing from sheets. It takes so much time. The tempo is perfect and I know, that it takes a lot of time to produce tutorials like this. Awesome - Hope you will post more. Looking for a tutorial from Tom Waits - Tom Taubert blues aka Waltzing Matilda

  • seriously dude i want to thank you for making these videos. Cause i have a recital coming up and i'm going to play this song. I have trouble reading music notes so you are truly a life saver! I mean your playing the same notes i have to play and everything!! :D.!!

  • SLOW DOWN! lol

  • @miamibadboy11 Lol I know sorry about that! But you can always rewind if you have to :p

  • @JJBartleyMusic Can You PLLLEEEEAAAAASSEEEE make a tutorial for "(Chopin) Nocturne op.9 no.2" ... there is like no good tutorial for it on youtube and your tutorials are the best ....no seriously, I played Moonlight Sonata for My recital :) and you made it all possible lol .

  • Holy shit, the amount of stuff Matt Bellamy of Muse 'borrows' is riduculous.

  • Oh yeah break the flow by interrupting teh pedal flow uh huh. great fucking job retard. U also need to learn wtf the word 'rubato' means. if ure not gonna do it properly just dont ok. Thanks.

  • @rombusempire Hey pot head, I don't see you trying to do anything to help someone or anything at all. Until you have something to compare it to, why don't you shut your face. Idiot!

  • Niceee ^__^

Second part is not so easy haha

  • I wrote out all the notes from watching him play, THEN I notice the notation in the video notes! Dang it! Great video though. I always thought this song was a lot harder for some reason.

  • Even if you do play fast...this was one of the most awesome tutorials I've ever learned from. You explained it soo well! and it's a very slow song anyway..so going any slower than normal speed would have been a bit difficult. :)

  • keep up the great work! thank god there's a pause button! lol I love this!!

  • Still the video is 7-8 mins long an extra minutes could have helped you went a little fast, i thought part one was betterr

  • idk...y people are saying it took them like days to learn it......your tutorial is good to me.....and you have the harder version of the song which is good cuz of course its better

  • Its called stop pause and rewind people! He has to keep it under 10 min!

  • @jaxonator1 He still has 2 mins left!

  • jesus slow down goosey

  • hey man you have to put the notes on the next videos like you did with these two first ones..PLEASE!! i really need them..thanks :)

  • he is going fast, but I think he needs to. i mean, think about it... he has TEN tutorial videos for one song!

  • Thanks for your help. great video.

  • Thank you so much for posting, I love it when you write the notes all out, I sometimes have problems interpreting the notes from the sheet, this clears some of it out. Keep it up .

  • exellenteeeee

  • thank you so much for taking your time to explain how to play the whole sonata, I love Beethoven's stuff and this helped me a lot! Can't wait for the part 3

  • damn part 1 was cake but this vid is waaay too fast

  • i love your voice, your accent is intruiging :)

  • Hey thanks alot for this tutorial.... just a quick question for anyone musically inclined.

I'm a girl with small hands and I physically cannot do the long stretches.... should I just play the higher note of the two instead?

  • @xcandymandyx if possible use your sustain peddle and roll the notes to get the full sound, this is easy with a littler practice.

  • @xcandymandyx yep, that should sound not too different from the original

  • subbed

  • Thank you very much.

  • Thanks a lot for the help :)

  • this helped a lot

  • good job

  • the 2nd part is so much harder >.> i wish i wasent self taught so i could be able to play it easyer.

  • @MBPKyle same here man its rough learning on your own i know all about it haha

  • @5:51 and 7:17 you should not play the B octaves on the bass with the B+C stretch.

  • you should put the notes in the description like in the first tutorial ... please ... its confusing to me like this

  • Thanks alot , really a great help ! You insipired me to learn piano !!! XD

  • looks complicated

  • very loooooong song! but thx for tutorials!

  • i just spent most of today learning part one!!!!

  • Thank you for sharing your time to teach this. I am learning this in stages, just as your are teaching this in parts.

  • i dont know if ur keyboard has this but most keyboards do. theres an option to make the notes stay out. like the pedal on the piano. it makes the song sound much nicer. but overall great stuff. it would help though if u posted the notes too like in ur last vid

  • Your good but the keys would help.

  • I DON'T KNOW HOW TO SAY THANK YOU TO YOU, BECAUSE WORDS CAN'T EXPRESS HOW GRATEFUL I'AM REALLY TO YOU, SOOOO PLEASE TRY AND ACCEPT MY GRATITUDE TOWARDS YOU PLEASE!!!!!

  • wheres the notes in part 2 like in part one?

  • Personal response to this video, you leave some gaps in the change of the chords but otherwise it's all good, keep up the good work for non-readers everywhere!

  • No words to how much I appreciate this. You are doing an amazing job and for a person who cannot read music at all, you are have helped me to be able to play this song. I wish you were a little slower aroun d the 3:20 part of the tutorial as I am having a trouble there, but with a little patience I will get that part soon. Again, I take off my invisible hat before you. Thank you kindly.

  • I like how in part 1 you wrote down the notes in the description that was the most helpful part for me.

I hope when you get a chance you will go back and do that for all 10parts.

  • @coachyouforsuccess

I hope he does, they were a great help.

  • thank you so much! this is fantastic! But, can you post the notes, like you did on the first part? Thank you times a million ;D

  • could you please put the tabs for this peice in the desciption like you did in the 1st one. it made learning the 1st part so much easier. i know it would be more difficult for the 2nd peice since theres alot more bass peices, but it would help SOOOO MUCH.. please add tabs, im begging you

  • @mistiqueau75 I have a pictorial tab chart that is easy to follow and you dont have to memorise it as you go.

  • Best music tutorial of all time. Keep doing what you are doing.

  • how long it took u to learn this?

  • Please post the notes

  • Sir, u play like your hair is on fire. Isn't the tempo a bit too fast, especially for a tutorial?

  • @MrSol320 he play the first part fast cause is not the tutorial, and he have online 10 minits.

  • @MrSol320 I can't stand people that play it so fast! it's supposed to be a beautiful and solemn song! But, really this is a great tutorial and he is careful to teach you the music as it was origionally played. Thanks JJBartleyMusic

  • @MrSol320 well he only has ten minutes to teach...But I do agree. But still, ten minutes :/

  • @MrSol320 you make a good point it is pretty fast, but once i learn these segments i do the same thing, cant really help but to play it fast
