i notice alot of muppets from the 70's got into tantrums, like the lost and found guy in this skit, Grover in the waiter skits got emotional in a few of them, and Bert and Ernie sometimes would get alittle crazy, i think the muppets today calmed down a bit. :D
i noticed in the old skits the muppets were more "high strung" like the skit with Grover going nuts with Fat Blue giving him a hard time, and this skit with the lost and found guy losing it. :D
I like Farley he was a cool character and this skit was great his toy box in his pocket the whole time and the guy's tantrum "It was in your...Durguff! Hilarious imagine what other words he would have said.
I agree. Farley is a great character and I really like this skit, and I thought the man's tantrum was funny too. That man could've lost his job easily by knocking down the other boxes and he could've broke them and he could've gotten in trouble by another person if he broke one of the boxes that was on the counter which belonged to that person who came to the "Lost And Found." (I'm sure those other boxes belonged to other people who lost them). Maybe the guy wanted to get fired showing anger
At 2:58, the man looked like he was going to say something to Farley. I'm not sure if he said something or not. If he did, does anyone know what he said?
Thank you. I can also hear the man's voice sounding like Ernie. I also remember Jim Henson voicing Ernie but now, the new person who is voicing Ernie is Steve Whitmire since Jim Henson passed away (that's very sad that he passed away).
Maybe it wasn't a "toybox" per se, but rather a "toy box"; just like a toy car or toy train. What I can't figure out is, why he was so torn up about losing THAT.
Maybe the reason why Farley was very sad about losing his toy box was because, it was probably a gift to him by a family member or a close friend that he really loves and he felt very sad about losing a gift by someone he really loves. Or maybe he was told to never to lose it and he was sad that he lost it and thought he would get in trouble for losing it. He probably loved that box so much which is why it was in his pocket, and his mind was probably focused somewhere else as he put it there.
That toy box probably meant a lot to Farley. Sesame Street characters have very diverse and distinct interests and obsessions, many of which would seem strange in society. Farley might have kept tiny little toys in it, like those found in Cracker Jack boxes or in Mexican piñatas.
I really like this skit and the man's tantrum at the end too but, I wasn't sure if he really was angry or sad because he looked like he was angry at first by knocking all the boxes down on the floor and all around him. Then he took out a hankerchief and wiped it on his face looking like he was crying. So I'm not sure if he was angry or sad as soon as Farley left. If he was angry or sad, I don't know what he was angry or sad about because Farley found his box and he was finished helping Farley
I think the man was crying because the whole incident frustrated him enough to cause a nervous breakdown. "It's days like this that make me hate this job," I can imagine him saying...
Is that the same anything muppet that demonstrated heavy and light with Cookie Monster?

Do you think this kind of thing really happens at a Lost & Found?

Been waiting for this one for a long time, great find. I've been saying the words "white stripe" like Farley for about thirty years.

You know what's funny?
Anybody whose worked with Jim Henson says he's the calmest person you can know.
But the majority of Jim's characters are really high-stung. XD
Do you suppose that's how he released all of his extra stress?
golddemona 3 years ago 2
i noticed that too, also Grover is a bit high strung but is voiced by frank Oz. :)

Hey, mister.. I hope someone turns in your sense of humour.

Silly question 101: Aren't toy boxes supose to be a place to keep your toys in for storage?
That is a pretty small box big toys.
DJ1SCY 3 years ago
Unless it's for really little little toys, dice or jacks or legos?
PandaMishima 3 years ago 2
I have a feeling this "toy box" is a box used AS a toy; the kind used to KEEP toys would be hard to keep in a pocket and even harder to lose. ;-)
hoopersghost 3 years ago
Makes sense. Still, even a box that's a toy can still hold even littler toys.

Wow I remember this one so well. It always stuck in my mind for some reason.

Yes, Farley is a great character. He's also the cutest little guy this side of Big Bird's nest!
Bring him back in Season 40! Or one of these seasons.....

Is that man who was helping Farley voiced by Jim Henson?
afriendofbean 3 years ago
I can't be 100% sure, but the voice sounds awfully similar to Ernie's (and Jim Henson did perform Ernie originally). So I'd say "probably".

Yes thats definitely Jim Henson. "it was in your...Why you little son of a bitch!" was his thought.

@afriendofbean Yeah, Henson did voice various muppets. He was also the salesman in the Simon Soundman skit where he tries to buy a saw.
