You can never tell accurately how hard a breeze is blowing in pictures or videos. 2008 Nationals at Chatauqua it blew 15-20 and in the pictures it looked like 5-10. Stop commenting on the breeze and realize how fast he's friggin going. All of us would have been holding onto our nuts praying we don't die
even though we own like 3 e scows Ive yet to be out on one in this kind of wind Ive been out on an I-20 In 35mph wind with and extra and we had that thing doing very close to 40mph with an extra 1000+ pounds of water in the cockpit lol
I don't care if its 20 k or 35 , its still flying . Is the board humming? Is the rigging and hull humming? How about 2 traps and clete it in a little tighter...
this was before e-scows flew asymetrical chutes could you imagine a conventional spinaker on a day like this? I sail sunfish on the toms river and when you get the north east you can easily get a boat like that going pretty damn fast
last summer we ran into a 50 knot gust on an e-scow and the short time before it made us crash was soo fast. The crash shredded our main and bent our mast
Speeded up in the editing room ;-)

If I ever do a video I will remember to stay on the windward side, or the aft windward quarter. Good place for a onboard camera too.

On our boat when we are at the very top end of our speed the centerboard starts humming.
Schneebuddy 4 years ago
Wow! You can hear the stays humming. You know its blowing hard when you can hear the stays.

I really like this class however, you would always be looking for people who do not mind getting a little wet.

I think they mean 35 knots of wind, speed is irrelevant...maybe it's 25, maybe not.
This vid is very cool!

this boat is not good for circumnavigation. There isn't enough room for your stuff, not even for a tv.

in other words, it's not the minivan of sailboats. thank god.
