@arisklms13 Nadal was teenager when he won against Federer in Miami 2004 and in FO 2005, too, so it shouldn't be an "excuse" ;) Blake had 3:0 against Nadal until 2008, with one US open win in 2005...Gaudio Gaston has 3:3 against Nadal, but they played all their matches on clay! And so on...
@arisklms13 Bjorn Borg has better record than Nadal, for example. Anyways, head-to-head record doesn't necessary means that one player is better than another. Nadal has impressive wining records against lot of players, but because of clay surface. If there would be 2 slams and 4 masters od grass, Sampras would have positive record against almost everybody. Because of that you should count another records, titles, consistency, ability to adapt to different conditions (surfaces) etc.
@hordak83 actually I think Borg and Nadal have the same winning percentage.Nadal's is 82.5 % and Borg's 82.7 %
It's a slight difference...
As fot the other things you said that should really count,I think that Nadal is in the top spots of these caategories.He has a grat record the last 6 years on grass, he's won he's eon 2 grand slams and 5 masters on hard courts and in 2010 he won 3 grand slams in three differnt surfaces so you can say that he has an extremely good ability to adapt to
@3timeMVPNash People will disagree with Agassi but it's clear that Agassi played in a superior era competition wise coupled with the fact there was a huge variety of different surfaces. A prime Agassi against Davydenko would have been a wonderful baseline battle.
It seems to me that to beat Nadal, you need to be really really above him in level of play, because nadal wins all the important points : how can there be only 7/6 1/1 when Davydenko is 28 winners/ 28 UO and Nadal 4 winners/ 16 UO ??? that could be stats of a 6/3 6/3 match lol
It's like Nadal beating Fed in AO winning less points...
mental strength is more important in tennis than some can think.
my 2 favourite players!) thats hq tennis...pity,that DAvydenko cant play so good,as he did there...and btw he must like Shanghai,cuz he plays best tennis there! :p
@Jamus182 people normally prefer to watch federer, or the matches which nadal won as their fans i guess. I absolutely like Davydenko...watching him live was one of the best experiences i had!!!
dammit Davydenko!!!! Tennis NEEDS YOU BACK

The doped Spaniard does nothing but defence and wait for his opponent to make a error or to get tired.

@hordak83
I agree with you. It's not an excuse.I'm just pointing a fact
yes I know about blake, but it's still a wining record for nada
as for Gaston,Nadal won the three last meetings
and besides that it's not a losing record :)
by the way, just think about other players in the history of the game
is there a player who has so few loosing records?
I doubt so...

@arisklms13 I think that nobody has winning record against Bjorn Borg.

@hordak83 .... different conditions. He also wins at least 5 titles a year since 2005 so he is very consitent.
And he also has quite few records...
I'm not trying to say he is the GOAT. He surely isn't.I will put federer in the top spot instead.
But you can't argue he is in the top5 of all time..

@arisklms13 When I said inconsistent, I was talking about the fact that he hasn't been able to defend non-clay title.

@arisklms13 Federer, Sampras, Laver, Agassi, Borg. That's 5 guys that are definitely above Nadal.

Nadal's slice backhand really tends to hurt him..!!
Jaishankar100 1 year ago
@Jaishankar100 exactly what i was thinking. maybe he was nervous/his topspin backhand was unreliable at that time.
