  • Any idea were you can find floor boards for F-bodys? I have a 76 Aspen R/t in need of restoration and am having a very difficult time finding body parts...Probably have to fabricate alot of them myself and seeing as how this is my first restoration im going to be out alot of cash...any help would be appreciated..

  • @ahhGroovymangroovy Hello - Stuff for these cars comes up on ebay all of the Time - Lots of NOS stuff too. Just look daily. I think you have 3 options - NOs. Parts car, or Fab them up your self.

    Good Luck With your Project.

  • How long can these engines last? I've heard they never die! Do they have reasonable power?

  • @jamesr197307 The Older Slant 6's Can run quite a while without really taking care of them. Using Hemi Sized Rod and main Bearings whiel making less than 1/4 of the power of the Hemi Explains alot. These engines were over designed and they lasted.

  • @jamesr197307 Depending on what year, between 95-110 hp. Not exactly a powerhouse. But they were long lived.

  • @itsmegp46 Yep I think They grossed 145 in some years.. Can be a bit sluggish in stock form :-)

  • From experience, I found the slant six way too sluggish for highway driving. The 318 made for a much happier driver (me).

  • @starladear002 In Stock form Yes i agree especially With 2.71-2.91 Rear Gear. This car Now has EFI with a 3.23 and it's fine!

  • I've got one just like this except with a black interior. It came original with the slant six, but I put a 318 in it.

  • I have got a very good hint for you to keeping the nice old Engine in good shape with todays ultra dry eco fuels: Use 1:100 API TC two stroke oil / fuel mix as regular driving fuel, that keeps the old fuel-system gaskets, rubber parts, alloy parts etc... and cast iron metal surfaces of those vintage engines in excellent shape...and it also lubricates the valves and upper piston regions. Most Porsche vintage owners in Germany do so :) Also keeps carbs + injection and tank clean and rustfree

  • @Pnoerre Thanks for the Tip!

  • I have a '87 Dodge Ram D150 shortbed with the 225 ci slant 6 -- last year for the slant 6. I got it off the original owner, with only 80,000 miles, for $900. Runs great and is in great shape. You can still find low mileage cars with these engines, but they will start to become scarce soon. Somebody should start a slant 6 parts warehouse, because these parts may get scarce one day.

  • What is the EFI thing ?

  • @steppenwolf95 EFI= Electronic Fuel Injection. I have Used a Megasquirt system on this car for 3 years now.

  • Cool!!!!!!

  • Manual transmission with overdrive! Nice option. That car is unusual enough to deserve a full restoration... take good care of it!

  • @crispiegee1 It was a factory 904 auto with column shift. I swapped it over to the 4 speed OD.

  • @hyperpack Back in 1977, my dad had to replace his '74 Plymouth Fury wagon (which had been smashed up in an accident). We test drove a red Volare wagon with a 318 and a 4-speed overdrive. (White interior - ew!) I remember sitting in the cargo area during the test drive. Kids could do that then!

Years later, my next door neighbor bought a used '78 Volare wagon with a 318/4sp combo. Later he bought another one with a 360/auto. I can't imagine there were many stick shift wagons made in the 70's.

  • Manual transmission with overdrive! Nice option. That car is unusual enough to deserve a full restoration... take good care of it!

  • I love where you put the tachometer. Great car.

  • @enigma413 Thanks! I am glad you enjoy it.

  • I like your car.I am guessing your air conditioner dosen't work? Those slant6s are fine motors.

  • Thanks - the Ac Works But I need a seal in the front of the compressor - on the to do list. :-)

  • Had a '78 model with the a Slant Six as well with 260K miles on it when sold - and still ran great. Mine had an odd color combination though - cream color exterior with halo white top. Inside had white seats and door panels, with black carpeting and instrument panel.

  • were did ya get the "yeah its got a slant six sticker"? thanks

  • I got it on ebay a few years ago - a nice guy in maryland had them. good luck!

  • I love that hollow sound of a straight 6!

  • I've only recently discovered these cars existed (I'm From Ireland.) but i love them from what i've seen so far

  • Thanks! I hope you Enjoy!

  • Yes thank you, it's a nice video, found the efi video too

  • OMG! I had the exact same car only mine was an automatic. I do recall it had a diff steering wheel too. But same color, same "Scottish" interior, everything else. i had that car from 85 till 89 and beat the crap out of it and it wouldn't die. I also had a 78 Plymouth Super Coupe. Got vids of that on my page.

  • great car!!! love the leaning tower of power forever!!!

  • nice car man, my dad is restoring his right now, it is pretty much in good condition just need a grille

  • Slant six cant beat em my 1980 Cordoba has one only 65,577 miles on it all original motor except the alternator, starter, fuel pump and distributor cap smooth running and reliable and 26 miles a gallon on the highway cant beat that and a classic Chrysler

  • Ya those slant six's can last a long time thats why they are in the old tractors(To my knowledge?).Nice car!!5/5!!

  • Yea, they were in tractors, swathers, and a whole list of other agricultural and commercial vehicles. Awesome engines!

  • Pretty nice. Interesting interior. I have a 78 Volare Premiere Spt. Coupe myself. But 78 and 79 looked alike. Anyways, Mine is all original, it came with the factory 360ci police package and it has a little over 35,000 original miles. Plus it's been in the family since brand new and it's a very fun car to drive.

  • Thanks! That is the original interior the car Has 183,000 Miles on it and all the duster package cars could be ordered with the plaid interior in 79 or 80 I have seen Some without it however.

  • THIS CAR IS STICK

  • nice tach i got the same in my truck, but is that the stock radio? because my 89 ram has the same radio and i find it hard to believe they used the same radio for 10 years +

  • No that is not the stock Radio - It's from a late 90's early 2000's Mopar It fits pretty well and has CD/AM/FM/Tape

  • That's right...it can fit in any certain Chrysler vehicle made between the 1970s and 1980s.

  • The "factory" radio choice on a 1979 Volare was AM/FM or AM/FM w/8-track.

  • Don't Forget No radio and AM Radio With one speaker and Am Radio with 2 Speakers

  • where did u get the side windows vents?

  • They Came on the car from the Factory :)

  • I drove slant sixes for at least 25 years- no doubt one of the very best- if not THE best- engines ever made. Period.

Nice to see you've got a four-speed in it. Is it the A-833 OD-4? Perhaps a transplant from a 64-66 Dart? Way cool.

Keep up the good work. Long live the 30-Degree Economy Six!

  • i got a 2.45 in my lebaron. what all do i need to switch out the rear end? will my current driveshaft just plug into it?

  • u mean u got a 225ci which is the slant 6 ur drive train should slide rigt in ur lebaron or diplomat

  • Thanks for the info, I was told that i could get flat top pistons (no hollows)installed too. Would that give some kinda problem with the valves? What compression ratio did you get with those .100" shaved off the engine head? I'll appreciate any comments and I hope I can turn my Aspen into a daily driver pretty soon.

  • sweet car man. love the 4 speed!! im a big v8 guy, and people can talk all the shit they want, but you have GOT to love those slant sixes!!! i have a 80 cordoba with one in it. check out my vids. i would love to get an F body mopar myself with the slant in it, and a 4 speed! long live the leaning tower of power!! 1959-1989 practicaly unchanged in 30 years. and one of the most reliable motors ever built. period.

  • ah i agree the 225 slant 6 is one of chrystler engine ever built along side slant 6's big bro the 318

  • Is the buzzer in this Volare very scary?

  • Naw, It just sounds loud on my Camera!!

  • Cool! engine sounds nice and powerful. I'm restoring a 79 Aspen. Did you modify the engine or exhaust? I'm just getting started with mine and could use some advice.

  • Thanks for the kind words. The engine is Stock Except for the head. Head has 1.7/1.44 valves with port and polish It also Has .100" off the deck of the head. Exhaust sounds mean due to 3" Flowmaster 40 and 3" single tube from intermediate pipe back. 3" is waaay too big for the engine as it is now.

  • nice :) I just bought one of these freshly restored, and should be getting in this month. Nice to see what it looks like in use!
