  • He must have learned and taken too many lessons and instructions from all those costly Pat Wait All Day rides that cost so many top horses in their day.

  • He must have taken too many lessons from all the terrible Pat Wait All Day rides that cost so many top horses

  • People call a whisker and desperate neck in two races due to Pat Day's horrible "passive, deliberate, exposed end of a live wire riding" getting their head knocked in? Funny.

  • Zenyatta may not even be in the top 5 all time females horses....as for all horse both male and female, she is not in the top 50....don't get me wrong, she was good for the sport but don't mistake the hype with true ability and substance....if you want to see real ability checkout Secretariat's races, Risen Star's Belmont, Sunday Silence and Easy Goer butting heads....that was racing at its best...matter of fact, Rachel Alexandra was much more talented than Zenyatta....Z is over rated

  • @HawgtiedXX wow not in the top 50 all time ? LMFAO Buy a clue

  • I always get chills when I watch this. I always hope that they made a mistake, that Zenyatta really did win. But I'll have to accept it. Zenyatta is still the best! Still unbeaten in my heart!

  • You guys should read some comments by jonhu or something like that....on zenyatta best ever...what a jerk off LMAO....RANKS Zenyatta no higher then like 7th or 8th best female ever talk about clueless huh ? LOL

  • Zenyatta proved so much more in defeat here than she did with the nineteen wins that preceded it.

  • I found the result for the $5million that Zenyatta has 1 loss while Rachel Alexandra have 2 loss Now the question is still unanswered, who is the best of two? Zenyatta w/ 1 loss or Rachel Alexandra w/ 2 loss?

  • @arvincabioc YOU'RE kidding right ? RA might maybe maybe be a top 50 all time filly.

Zenyatta AND Ruffian are light years in front on any other Fillys PERIOD !

  • don't give up mike,i am here to supporting you to be the next superstar jockey.....

  • But Mike Smith having full of afraidness for whipping Zenyatta....

I know that Zenyatta has undefeated,so Smith has a something wrong on the race

for delaying Zenyatta to win breeders cup....

That is a sad career for Mike Smith...hehehe....so he lost his race to be the next superstar jockey,but....

He better luck next race for winning Belmont Stakes Race by riding a winstar farm Drosselmeyer

which is the winner of BELMONT STAKES RACE & BREEDERS CUP CLASSIC...

  • very unlucky Zenyatta

  • Sorry, but anyone that thinks Zenyatta was anything other than one of the GREATS in the sport is bald faced liar. Unless they're truly ignorant. Which, considering, I believe the majority of her critics are. BY FAR the best horse in this field. NO DOUBT.

  • I hurt myself when the Queen of defeat, Zenyatta lost her race in the hand of Blame and the boys when I watch You Tube....

So for me, Zenyatta is still the best horserace ever....

I love Zenyatta, and goodbye, may you now rest in peace....

  • @arvincabioc She's not dead...LOL

  • @Kostly I know that she's dead,she brought on a breed...hehehe...

    sorry for the comment..

  • Yes! Yes! Yes! Dam....

  • ahhh! y did he race her like that!? iff i were him i would have just an her ruffan style to see if she truly was the queen... n she got boxe in cuz he decided it was a good idea to hug the rail where the other +10 horses were runnin

  • IMHO she didn't lose this race, Mike Smith did. Her coming in 2nd in no way diminishes her as a champion. She ran a GREAT GREAT race inspite of an atrocious ride.

  • what a shit ride!!!

  • Oh my gosh every time i see this it just hits me she truly ran her heart out towards the end of this. What would really be funny zenyatta BRED to blame nxt year who knows. I wish i could have seen this race though simply AAMAZING.

  • I've been in racing about 40 years (15 as an asst trainer on a mjaot circuit) and she's the best female i've ever seen and yes that includes Personal Ensign AND Ruffian...but for this 1 mistimed ride she's 20 for 20 at the highest level of racing and she's knocked in the heads of the best boys in the world TWICE

  • @renduke I can think of a few that deserve the chance to be in the convo, Ruffian, ouija board, goldikova, rachel alexandra who i think her 3 year old season is as if not more impressive than the great dr fager season simply bcuz she was a 3 year old philly. i dont think RA would have wanted to try to go 10 with Z though. They coddled her to much. She didnt race anyone really until the breeders cup so she never ran against the best and that y RA got HOTY.

  • @reddmudd777 wow RA you gotta be kidding...a real nice miler thats about it...we are talking SUPER HORSES here....Zenyatta at 19 for 19 before this race didn't face the best ? PLEASE !!!! go back to handicapping 101

  • @renduke LOL Yeah considering she was giving over 10 lbs every race to her opponents..

  • @Kostly RA was a VERY nice horse...Very Nice....super horse ? NOT !

  • @renduke the mare always runs like that....she is always allowed to settle and finish with a flourish....the idea that the ride was mistimed is PURE BS...don't care what Mike Smith said as he is going to take up for his horse no matter what....if you watch the 'gallop out' you'll see that not one step did BLAME allow the "GREAT MARE" to pass him....he was as fresh as a spring flower and galloped out a good 5 lengths ahead of her.....if they had ran around again, he would have won by 20

  • @HawgtiedXX we watched 2 different races....she was eating him up with every jump

sorry but she didn't close 6 lenghts in the last 1/16th to hang "after the wire"

  • @renduke the gallop out never lies, especially after a race at a classic distance....watch Easy Goer's gallop out in the 1989 BC Classic when he was beaten by a diminishing head by Sunday Silence....Easy Goer blew by Sunday Silence not 5 yards past the finish line and galloped out 6 to 8 lengths the best....then watch Zenyatta never get past Blame even on the gallop out...she had given every ounce she had and came up a head short....no shame in that, but you have to accept the truth

  • @HawgtiedXX You make a very good point mate. Mike Smith was very critical of his ride , but I've seen worse. She's undeniably a Champion but there is no doubt that she had every possible chance to win that race. Smith may of been a little far back at some point but he did well to switch her to the outside without stopping her momentum too much. Zenyatta was within about 3 lengths of the leading bunch with about 300 yards to go. Every possible chance.

  • :'( Breaks me down everytime. Much better Classic than this 2011's.

  • this breeders cup was way better than this years.

  • There's something exciting about watching these beautiful horses run as HARD as they can at 35 to 40 mph and racetrack announcer adding to the drama. I wasn't aware that horse racing as a sport needed saving. Zenyatta clearly served the sport well as a female horse and a horse period. Appreciate the athletes.

  • I CANT BELIEVE SHE LOSED! SHE RAN AN IMPRESSIVE RACE I GOTTA SAY!

MAY THE QUEEN OF STAKES HAVE A HAPPY RETIREMENT <3

  • zenyatta 2nd .....The only time those 2 words will be uttered together for the QUEEN :)

  • highlight of my year

  • I highly suggest both you morons look into a horse by the name of "Lava Man." You want a horse with tremendous heart? How about a gelding who struggled his 2/3yo career in cheap claimers, claimed by Doug O' Neil for $50k and earned over 5.9 million? Zenyatta is like the rich princess born into royalty and finally got busted by the poor boy (Blame) of Churchill Downs.

  • an absolutley amazing and terrific horse , i remember watching this last year. I was still amazed with her and my parents - who are not horse people- were absolutley mezmerised. What a shame that she went undefeated and lost her last race , still an absolutley amazing horse , win or lose <3 happy retirement (:

  • you did say she beat them several times a year its right there you typed it in the comments not me.lmao @ she would have beaten zarkava stop talking with your heart and start talking with your head.stop being biased towards horses on the west coast or american horses i am american lived here my whole life im a horse racing fan with no bias i call it as i see it not because i like a horse because of where they are located.

  • @tjjlm444 No, she raced males twice in her career and only beat them once. I said she is MORE than that. As in, it doesn't matter that she didn't, what she did was more important than that. Stop with the selective vision.

  • @wolfpup233 please enlighten me on what she did that was so important?you arent a horse racing fan you are a selective racing fan who only knows about zenyatta and thinks shes up there with secreteriat.and im the one that told you she raced males twice in her career you said she beat them several times a year.i read your statements and comments and can tell you know absolutely nothing about horse racing.

  • @tjjlm444 No, dumb shit, I knew she raced males only twice from the beginning. I SAID that there were more important things than racing males. Stop being an idiot. As for what she did that was so important? How about, oh, I don't know, BRINGING FANS TO A DYING SPORT?

  • @wolfpup233 scroll back to a month ago i know what you said.how old are you you sound like a liittle kid now dont reply you nit wit you know nothing you just like her because she went undefeated and all of the sudden you think you know horses.your a fairweather racing fan now that zen is gone you can go back to whatever you liked before.

  • @tjjlm444 Just because you have no reading comprehension doesn't mean I'm the idiot. I have been a horse racing fan since I was a child and I am not going to stop any time soon. Sure, it may be less enjoyable now that she's gone, but it's still magical to me.

  • @wolfpup233 Laugh out loud.. It's "less enjoyable now that she's gone?" You are definitely not a horse racing handicapper and are only here commenting because the Breeder's cup is two days away. Go back to your 5x5 cubicle and figure out which NFL kicker you're going to acquire for your next fantasy football draft.

  • @BeetleSales Some baseball fans said it was different after Babe Ruth retired; how is this different? Oh, and for future reference, the only sport I give a shit about besides horse racing is hockey.

  • @wolfpup233 Are you seriously comparing Babe Ruth and baseball to Zenyatta and Horse racing? You sir, are a complete moron. I have been a horse racing fan and handicapper since I was 10 years old. I know the in's and out's of horse racing and know exactly what I'm talking about. The sport is not different without Zenyatta and will never falter.

  • @BeetleSales 1. Ma'am.

    2. I've watched horse racing since I was 6 and my 51-year-old dad has watched it since HE was six. He says the same things. Is he an idiot too? He also grew up with Jay Privman. But no, you obviously know much more...

  • @BeetleSales If Zenyatta had NO EFFECT on the sport, then why did TV ratings triple when she ran in 2010?

  • @wolfpup233 Is that a rhetorical question? TV ratings always increase a tremendous amount when big events take place. For example: When Barbaro broke his leg during the Preakness stakes back in 2006, not a single soul outside of the Horse Racing fan-base realm knew it even occurred. But when the story was plastered all over CNN news and local sports stations; the entire world acted as if they knew exactly what was going on.

I never claimed Zenyatta had no effect on horse racing. I merely (cont)

  • @BeetleSales The ratings for that BCC tripled over last year's BCC, so you can't say that they would have increased anyway. And no, the world doesn't stop just because one person leaves the sport, but that doesn't mean it's the same. Without Zenyatta, I don't have a horse to root for in every race. I don't have a horse with as much personality- no other horse dances before their race.

  • @BeetleSales Also, calling me inferior is uncalled for and way out of line.

  • @wolfpup233 You're inferior in the sense of thoroughbred handicapping and the overall understanding of horse racing. Like I said, I've been in this game for a while now.

  • @wolfpup233 made note of the fact the sport wasn't lost without her presence. Does the world stop just because Michael Jackson dies? How about Pop music? True champion horses aren't made up of the pedigree in which they're born with. Champion horses aren't made up of expectations given to them by the public. True championship horses are made up of rags to riches stories, where very few find it necessary to race them another day. Championship horses like "Lava Man."

    Read up inferior one..

  • @tjjlm444 Look at it this way: if I said someone was more than an award, would I be saying they won the award? No. You just want any excuse to make us Zenyatta fans seem stupid. I'd rather be stupid than heartless And you are both!

  • @Zenyatta20 that's on mike he's behind Qroad... that's why he was emotional in press conference he knew he made a couple of mistakes

  • OOOHHH WELL!! it's just sport who the hell really cares right? obviously i do... i'm looking frwrd to seeing unle mo finally get his chance... his illness robbed him of trip opprtunity i hope he's able to run in november

  • @caliwaters88 - Uncle Mo will fold like a cheap suit at the 3/4 pole. Not sure how people expect him to run 10f when he hasn't run beyond 8f since the Wood. He is a great miler I won't dispute that, but I say he runs the Exact race Espoir city did in here, and finish the same also. JMO.

  • @TicinoParadise why i was looking forward to the Derby, see how much farther he'd go. his juvenile (1/16) was so impressive & dominating i thought this guy's capable of more and the Wood was xactly that (1/8) was when he fell ill and still ran 3rd. i'm thinking if he can somehow feel as good this november as last that he will surprise. we've never seen him healthy beyond 1/16. ghostzapper started out as a miler. NO i'm not comparing zapp to mo. zapp own's period. just sayin giv mo his chance

  • @caliwaters88 If I were you I would not bet on Uncle Mo. If he lasts past the mile marker in this race I will be shocked. Also if he is the best this year then this will surely be the worst field in Breeders Cup Classic history. Uncle Mo is going to stop like a fat woman in a donut shop in this race and that you can take to the bank!!!

  • @layodrob he flew the mile & 1/8 juvenile "healthy"... u don't think there's any chance he's going to be a factor in the last 1/4?... i'll admit i was wrong about him if he doesn't even show... DGMWrong i'm not under the illusion he's going to pull a Ghostzapper... and depending on track conditions weather etc.. if he goes around 2:01 - 2:02.5 that will impress the shit out of me... and apparently 'REALLY' impress the shit out of everyone else. IF NUTHIN ELSE THIS BCC WILL B INTERESTING

  • @layodrob my bad the juvenile's a 1/16

  • @layodrob u were right my man. i almost commited 'THE' cardinal sin of betting w/your heart. actually i don't bet at all. of course now i'm amazed they even put him in the classic when even novice handicappers and horsemen were going, eeehhh? might be a bit much for him especially after liver disease. what the hell is weong w/repole and pletcher? seriously? i'm asking if anyone knows the logic they may have used in their decision. would of rather seen calebs posse and mo battle in the mile

  • @caliwaters88 apology accepted ( lol ). I will give you another piece of advice for a future bet on the Kentucky Derby ( take creative cause ). You probably wont believe this and not to toot my own horn, but I made my friends and myself a ton with a 2 horse parlay Amazombie/Drosselmeyer ( Mike Smith parlay ). Ohhh so nice!!!

  • @layodrob not sure about apology? or why there would be one in the first place... but congrats on your winnings... your friends should sport for a nice dinner of your choosing

  • She is a real superstar as losing only the last decisive game.

    It is still strong.

You have to praise the won horse.

  • Kieron Fallon would've on on Zenyatta by about 15 lengths

  • Does anyone know where I can find the pre-race footage of this? (I think from TVG?) The commentator says at one point that he hadn't heard a crowd yelling that loudly since Muhammad Ali. I'd sure like to see that vid again! Thanks.

  • Shes not the greatest of all time, or really even that close....Its a shame how quick people are to name the latest, the greatest, do some research...Zenyatta won some important races but was really only challenged twice in her career. The style of run and entertainment value has given her more credit than she rightfully deserves

  • @caz11533 Yatta, yatta, yatta.

  • A good racehorse isn't just Beyer figures, Grade One wins and (for fillies/mares) beating males several times a year. A good horse captures your heart. A good horse takes your breath away, on and off the track. A good horse is an ambassador to the sport who will be remembered decades later. A good horse brings tears to your eyes. A good horse ends up being EVERYONE's horse, not just the owner's. The best horse is the one people call a gift from above. That is Zenyatta- the greatest horse ever.

  • @wolfpup233 greatest horse ever? lmao get a clue her connections cherry picked races for her both years leading up to the breeders cup.she ran in open company races twice in her lifetime that does not define greatness.she was a great mare and if her connections would have put her in top flight races in open company she would have never reeled off 19 in a row.beating males several times a year?lmao i can tell someone doesnt follow horseracing at all do research 1st before you comment bro.

  • @tjjlm444 I don't know horse racing? EXCUSE ME? My dad grew up in Los Angeles and watched all of the greats at Santa Anita, and many more on TV, when he was in middle school. He was friends with someone who is now a top commentator and writer for the sport. He got me into watching since I was little, and explained everything to me until I was old enough to understand. He watched Zenyatta's races with me, and after seeing Secretariat and Seattle Slew and Affirmed and Alydar, says he thinks ctd

  • @wolfpup233 you said she beat males several times a year.just because your dad watched horse racing doesnt mean you know it..zenyatta isnt even the best mare in the last 10 years but you being the horse racing fan you are im sure you know of zarkava, goldikova, makybe diva and sunline.do you honestly think if sea the stars had come to the 09 breeders cup she would have won that race?i dont even know why i responded to you because i can tell you are a fan of zen and not a knowledgeable racing fan.

  • @tjjlm444 Uh, no, I said great racehorses go beyond that. I didn't say Zenyatta beat males several times a year; I said her heart was more important. It's like saying a good musician is more than gold records and (insert band here) is more than that. You're not saying band X got a gold record, you're saying there are more important things.

And hell yes I know about Zarkava and co.! Zenyatta would make them wish they were never born. Hell, Zenyatta could beat them by a length while pregnant!

  • @tjjlm444 Is the greatest of all time. He and I still watch her race and are impressed. So what if she didn't race against male that much? I will remind you that the great Ruffian only raced against females until the Great Match Race.

Greatness is not just performance on the track. It's where they fall in your heart.

  • @tjjlm444 Seriously her connections get way too much heat. They picked the right spots. Just look at the races she won last year, Hirsch, Lady's Secret, Vanity, Apple Blossom, Santa Margarita. This year they were chock full of G1 winners and top caliber fillies and mares. Contrast to when Zen was ruling, she ran against who was game to show up, which is all she and her connections could do. Remember Blind Luck's people flat out said they didn't want to run vs. Zen in the '10 Lady's Secret.

  • @tjjlm444 I only bring up that point because I know if the quality of fields in those races had been the quality they were this year, folks like you wouldn't be complaining as much. And don't be quick to dispatch horses like Blind Luck, Zazu, Switch, Ultra Blend, St Trinians, Havre De Grace as bad, they're damn good and they competed this year, in the races Zen ran in last year. Plus "in open company twice doesn't define greatness" there's "great" females who never ran vs. males or did only once

  • @d9y8l7a6n5 we arent talking about the quality of the fields this year she isnt racing now we are talking when she raced you fool.if you are the best horse male or female you run in the best races not just that 1 race a year.could you imagine if alysheba and alydar said we will only run 1 time against eachother.people want to see the best face the best at the very least they shopuld have run her in the pacific classic and dont act like people wouldnt have sent their horses because of her.

  • @tjjlm444 That was just to say that if she faced fields of the quality that entered those races this year, there'd be no complaints, which judging by your response there indeed wouldn't be. And one other thing, Alysheba and Alydar...race against each other?? Oook, don't think sire and foal were ever going head to head. And hey remember, Rachel, who was the reigning HOY, skipped the Apple Blossom match up, soon to be champion 3yo filly Blind Luck skipped the Lady's Secret, just to name a couple.

  • @d9y8l7a6n5 lol i meant affirmed and alydar.please dont compare anything rachael did because she ducked no1.what she did as a 3 year old filly is exactly what a champion does she ran in all big races from the preakness on that year.lmao @blind luck she is a good filly nothing more or less please dont act like she is anything more.let me ask you this how many open class races has blind luck been in? ever hear of zarkava, makybe diva, sunline, goldikova?they are greats

  • Comment removed

  • @d9y8l7a6n5 - @tjjlm444 Comments are correct. The Alydar/Alysheba example was just an example(bad one) but he/she made their point, and I 100% agree. The Goodwood, Pacific Classic..........to big of races to be dodging a horse. Her owners robbed her of showing her true greatness, after she won the 09 classic. This is why I tip my hat to trainers like Christophe Clement for sending Gio Ponti to Dubai to run vs the Best on Tapeta in the World cup two years in a row, win or lose.

  • For 2 seasons, 2009-10, there wasn't another MALE in the US that dominated an individual track like Blame did at CD. He never lost a graded stakes at CD in 2 seasons, and was only beaten once in his career there. In an Allowance race in 09'. Blame had the box seat, and sat a near perfect trip in the 2010 BC Classic. Whether it was a bad ride by Smith? Or just her spinning her wheels on the surface at CD that day? A lesser horse than Zenyatta and Blame wins this going away. Zenyatta's all heart!!

  • If Blame won by 6 no one would say Smith gave a bad ride. With such a narrow margin of victory it is simple to say he could have done this or that. When she won it in 09 she got free with 200 yds left. This race she had 325 yds left. Blame was just better on this day and if better is a nose then as a Z fan I can live with that. Blame will only be known as the horse to beat Zenyatta.

  • Zenyatta had a bad ride, Mike Smith left her with a impossble amount of ground to make up dead last most of the trip, not to take anything from blame, he happened to run the race of his life that day, i have followed him since and in my opinion she tower's over him, had she had the chance for a rematch, mike smith is a great rider (can ride speed and tactical speed horses better than a closer), in my opinion he tried to make a holly!wood finish and did not learn by almost losing her previous win

  • Blame won, Zenyatta lost. That Blame didn't get Horse of the Year is a joke.

  • Zenyatta is a champion. All of this talk about who her competition is worthless. She never scrathced from a race so she ducked no one. Mike Smith bad ride? NO - 200 yds before the wire Blame left the 2 path and ended up in the 4 path. Smart move by Gomez to make his horse see Zenyatta. I hate that Zenyatta was beaten. Smith loved this horse and had alot to do in the stretch by manuvering her but she got free over 325 yds before the wire and Blame was still strong right to the wire. Hated that .

  • Any jockey producing a ride like this in Australia would have been sacked.

  • The look on her owners face, u can see him stomach turn. I have watched this race 20 times and it never gets old,i love the commentary. If she had won it would certainly, undoubtably have been the best race I have ever seen and believe me I watch a lot

  • You know, sometimes I feel like it would have been better if she had lost by three lengths...

  • @wolfpup233 'C' yor point - or i think i do (?) - CORRECT IF I'M WRONG ON MY INTERPRETATION OF YOR POST. Had blame put race away, ~~AS HE SHOOD HAVE!!!!~~ IDEAL TRIP ON HIS HOME TRACK; would B easier 2 deal w/ZEN's loss. BUT!!!! 4 ZEN 2 travel to KY, race natural dirt (not her fav), w/a poor ride from start to finish, Qlty.Rd. ass backing in to her and Musket Man cut off @ top stretch STILL!! catches blame 2 lose by 1/2 a head makes me cringe. she was best horse in field hands down

  • @caliwaters88 - That is nonsense, the pace was fast, and she didn't do a lick of running until the top of the lane. Quality road was injured so I think your comment towards him is a joke, and Musket man was running his race, not his fault mike can't ride his horse. Blame, and Garret Gomez ran a perfect race, and for only his second go at 10 f Blame ran great. I love how everybody says Churchill is his home track blah blah blah....He won at Saratoga, Pimilico, and Churchill that year.

  • @TicinoParadise Churchill WAS Blame's home track, it was where he lived and was stabled, in Al Stall Jr's barn. That's what they mean by his home track, well that and he was quite formidable over the CD track. And if you can make an excuse for Quality Road saying he was injured and call that comment directed to him a joke, well your comments discrediting Zenyatta's courageous run can also carry such distinction, IMO anyway. Hey you have your opinions and I have mine.

  • @d9y8l7a6n5 - I very well aware of what a Home track is Thank you.

  • @TicinoParadise and your right, not Musket Man's fault he was in the way, i put that on mike as well completely his fault, just would of been nice had muskets ass been somewhere else as she dug in for the sprint @ 1:43, 44, blame may still have won but zen's line would have started an instant or two quicker.

  • @TicinoParadisethink i jumped the gun. u may well have known that was blames home. U NEVER ACTUALLY CLAIMED HE WAS STALLED ELSEWHERE.in fact knowing what u already know i'll just giv u the benefit assuming u do know it's where he SLEPT.disregard my prevus comment. BUT u absolutly tried to downplay it w/the argument: blah, blah, blah and he won at srtoga and pmlco. that is LITERALLY not an argument to suggest he had NO advnt running @ CD. i would easily admit zen WUD HAVE ADVNTG @ SAnita

  • @caliwaters88 - Somebody on here PLEASE tell me who in that field was a legit 10f horse?. Aside from Zenyatta's 09 classic win, and haynesfield stealing the JCGC with slow fractions, who was a legit 10f horse?.....NONE. So Zenyatta the previous classic winner couldn't beat a 9 furlong horse. to the wire. Greatness?........that is an insult to the greats of yester year like Makybe Diva who wins 3 consecutive Melbourne Cups run at 2 miles, Zarkava winning the ARC at 12f

  • @TicinoParadise u obviously have sum history w/u, u know more than i about yestryears horses,u defntly shulda known BLAME SLEPT @ CD's, i'll giv u credit, in yur defense i caught one of yur posts u wrote zen should be commended for her will in her races (or sumthing to that effect) i may have butchered what u actually said, regrdlss u credited zen. if u read my posts carfully never said she was an all time great. and i actually agree w/pretty much evrything u said except of course home track

  • @TicinoParadise Well for starters Looking at Lucky. If you knew how to read breeding lines you would know most of those horses were bread to run 10-12 furlongs. Also don't even compare the Melbourne Cup to the Breeders Cup Classic that would be just stupid of you. You obviously know nothing about horse racing based on your posts!!

  • @caliwaters88 - Also Dance Smartly who won a Triple Crown on Dirt and Turf going 10, and 12f, Dance smartly winning the Molson export millions at 12f vs North American Open Company,BCdistaf......That is greatness. Or the Champion Filly All Along from France who was Euro horse of the year, and USA horse of they year in '83 who won The ARC, Canadian International, Joe Hirsch Classic, and Washington DC Stakes...All at 12f in just over a month. She raced in France, England, Japan, Canada, and USA

  • @TicinoParadisepractically agree w/u except HOME TRACK kinda lived there. blame/GG ran perfect, NO DOUBT,NEVER suggested the wise, yea mikes fault not judging presence in final turn w/horses, blames better on dirt than zen.knew blame won other tracks but CD home.Qroad comment a joke? not aware he's injured? course it makes diffrnce. BC(09) lacked competition hoped for.not arguing against phillys named as better than zen, lame refering to people and comments as jokes, worse when yur inaccurate.

  • @caliwaters88 - How about if you want to have a civilized debate you learn to spell correctly so I can understand you more clear, and take you seriously.

  • @TicinoParadise SERIOUSLY? spelling? I ADMIT to issues w/too much shorthand and TRYING TO FIT TOO MUCH INTO ONE POST... but c'mon man u can't be that new?... i didn't think people were still posting about grammar today. There r people who shorthand to a greater degree than i do IT'S JUST IMPORTANT U GET THE MSSG... u can have a civilized debate either way. I PAY CLOSE ATTN TO ARGUMENTS AND THAT'S IT. u might as well correct someones grammar in their text mssg

  • @caliwaters88 pretty much except i take back my statement way, way earlier that blame should have put race away becuz to me, putting a race away is winning by a solid 3 lengths or more and noone's gaining on u in the end. it shouldn't have been a 1/2 head kills... a (1, 1/2) lengths or more and i would say blame the better horse. but yeah the way it unfolded zen went over there and busted out another great race that she could have won and really should have but that happens alot in sports

  • ha, gutted.

  • i feel if this race had been 5 more feet longer she would have got it. she made a late start but when she did come she lost by mere inches and she was STILL gaining so if the race had been just a little longer i feel like she would have got it :) but Zenyatta was never defeated in my opinon. Blame was an amazing horse and he BARELY won im looking foward to Feb. 2012 when she foals her 1st foal !!!

  • Zenyatta proved more with this loss than she did in all of her previous wins. Every horse they thought she'd have no chance against (like Quality Road) was nowhere to be found, she was slightly past her prime at almost seven years of age, and she lost to a very strong horse in its prime (Blame).

  • Zenyatta was clearly the best even running 2nd. Blame got the absolute dream trip and still barely hung on. Zenyatta had to wait at top of stretch to get out and that cost her the race. Even with all that she still only lost by a head and blame had to hang on for dear life! Between her and Cigar i have been lucky enough to witness both streaks! Both great horses!!

  • @royals1219 I've read a lot of the posts here and while I agree Zenyatta is one of the all time greats I don't see any credit given to Blame who wasn't just hanging on he had a lot left. A distinct deep closer like Zenyatta running in a field that size has to run into trouble or get an extremely lucky trip. Her problem was she ran almost as far sideways dodging and ducking horses like Quality Road who backed up into her as she did vertically down the stretch. I did enjoy that race immensely.

  • @Icyhotboo U R right! Blame DESERVES props for winning!! yur right about Qroad to. IMO Qroad factor just before stretch.STOP IT AT 1:44, Zen in stretch and had to shift sideways to avoid Musket Man, IMO it's what cost her the one stride she needed. Notice she needs to gain footing and cleary throws head at 1:45-:47. Disagree w/u on 1 thing, why did Blame have lots left? IDEAL TRACK/IDEAL TRIP/HOME TRACK!! only 2:02, NOT FAST! Jocks fault for not going earlier? or what? Zen 2:00 in 2009

  • @dav08salter 2:02.0 was fast for those freezing weather conditions, they coud have gone faster on a muddy track as every time they hit the ground it was like concrete. It was extemely cold with a whipping wind two seconds can be easily deducted from that time if not more. Not jocks fault Zenyatta was getting hit in the face with dirt for first time and just stopped, the track was cuppy each horse was throwing chunks not dust.

  • @Icyhotboo TIMES IMPORTANT, ALWAYS ALWAYS WILL BE. NOT only factor, obviously running w/20 other horses, weather, track conditions etc... will effect time. Rspctflly disagree with u on blame going 2:02 cuz of cold night, horses can withstand the cold far better than humans and i didn't hear one word of it from press. probably ideal for horses running mile and a qt. once warmed up. ~~ did u see 1:44 - 1:47? tuff to see Qlty rd back into zen cuz camera switched rite b4 happened.

  • @caliwaters88 Time is only important for people who don't understand track variants, handicap weighting, weather conditions, and general handicapping principles. Times are really irrelevant in handicapping and guaging race horses. If you ever go to the track and handicap based on time form of horses you will loose your A S S guaranteed!!

  • @Icyhotboo I will give Blame credit were credit is due he ran a great race and your right he was not just hanging on. With that being said he did get the perfect trip as noted by Trevor. Also with the fact that he was not just hanging on what does that say for how fast Zen was moving to make up almost 5 lengths in less than 200 meters???

  • she run second but this is the best race she ever won, and to my estimate was the best horse in the race, just her style and being a little to far back hurt her chances

  • @hukeeaboo You mean this is the best race she NEVER won ;-) It was without a doubt the best performance of her career. Everything went wrong for her including Mike Smith's ride and she still just missed by inches. Blame was lucky the post arrived when it did because with her momentum she was going to run over the top of him but just ran out of time.

  • @Writeowl The post did not "arrive", Blame arrived !

  • @Writeowl Zenyatta distinguished herself against all those supposedly superior males (Quality Road et al) that she was supposedly ducking. She also proves that Street Cry is by far the dominant sire of this generation.

  • Awful And Pathetic Ride From The Jockey

  • every time i see her come to the outside im thinking shes going to get up but she doesn't unfortunately. but still thats what i like bout the game.

  • great race call by the best in the business

  • Poor Zenyatta

  • Zenyatta is by far and away the best mare to ever race. She is also easily one of the top five greatest race horses of all time!!!

  • While I do agree this might have been the best field she faced top to bottom. I will say that tjjlm444 you know nothing about horse racing. I dont care if its horse racing or any other sport it is nearly impossible to have a 950 or better win percentage. Also dont blame her for where the connections raced her because unlike Rachel Alexandra Zenyatta never ducked anybody. She was the first and possibly the last mare to win the BC Classic and should have won HOTY 2 years in a row.

  • @layodrob seriously? with the campaign that RA completed in 2009, she definitely didn't need a breeders cup to prove her worth and deservingly won HOTY. I'm not hating on Zenyatta here but i just think it's inappropriate to say that Zenny should have won two years straight. Be happy she actually won a HOTY cos Blame was pretty close to getting it. Yes she is great, and i love her, but RA deserved the HOTY title more than her in 2009.

  • @gallopracerfan Oh ok! I guess if barely beating Mine that Bird and Summer Bird while facing male rivals is good enough to win HOTY, then blasting both of those means Zen is the greatest of all time. Lets compare apples to apples here. While RA did go 8 for 8 in 09 she also did not run in all G1 company that year same for Blame. Had Zen had the chance to run against RA she would surely of beaten here soundly in the BC. Same can be said for Balme in 2010! Get a clue!!! By the way RA was good too!

  • @gallopracerfan You also need to face facts. The connections of RA obviously knew they could not beat Zen and did not want to tarnish here legacy ( too late for that now after her 2010 campaign ) by running her against Zen. As for Blame the only reason he is even getting some pub is because GG out smarted MS. Had MS not made Zen climb a steep hill she would have beaten that field easily. Not to mention it was Blames home course any other track and Blame gets no pub!!!

  • i had more respect for zen in this race than any of her previous 19.it was the best field she faced and she fared very well.its a shame what her owners did by never putting her in the big races except for the bc.she was a great mare but for anyone who thinks she is one of the all time greats they know nothing about horse racing.to me she is 4th maybe 5th best mare in the last decade behind zarkava, sunline, makybe diva and ra 3yr difference is they raced open class consistantly to prove greatness.

  • Everyone seems to focus on how far back Zenyatta was from the front but she was only about 3 lenghts behind Balme into the turn for home! What cost her the race that Mike took her outside instead of the inside route in which Blame took! Blame just happen to have a better trip and I am sure Zen would had caught him with just a little better trip!

  • mike! asked just 'lil too much' from her.. ATALQUAR u r correct. never want to hear about her not facing comptitn ever again... what competition?LOOKATLCKY? HYNSFIELD? QLTY RD?... JOKES; statues in the stretch to a girl that had to make up for mike's error. AND BLAME: beautiful ride on the rail entire way, ON HIS HOME TRACK!! NO LESS, on a perfect day and scored a pathetically mediocre 2:02... ZEN 2009 (BCC) 2:00.5. zen hating blues had nothing to brag about that day just wipe sweat from head

  • why didnt zenyatta run in the triple crown races

  • @danbrown565 The triple crown races are open to 3 yr olds only...Zenyatta didn't begin racing until she was almost 4 yrs old. She's such a monster at 17.2 that it took her extra time to develop the strength to run, her trainer decided she wasn't ready & did right by her by waiting. For the longevity of her career, it was the right move. But it would've been nice to see her in more competitive races...

  • @danbrown565 i thought the same thing. i guess because she was 5 years old or something and she didnt race any of the 3 races to get in

  • The horse never had a chance. Mike Smith, Zenyatta's jockey tried to be too clever and never had her in the race at the right time. It is all to the mare's credit that she finished as close as she did.

  • see you at peelers is better

  • Zennyatta the best mare ever.

  • In my eyes, Zenyatta lost nothing in defeat in her second Classic run at Churchill Downs on this day. If anything, she just solidified her greatness in this race, as did Blame. Zenyatta faced 22 of the best males in the world from the U.S. and Europe in 2 different Classics. She proved better than 21 of them, and found only one that was good enough to beat her by mere inches. This mare was incredible. One of the all-time great American thoroughbred's, bar none!! TJMO.

  • @GBeret83 You forgot Espoir City was from Japan

  • @GBeret83 omg! Ive actually found someone who knows wut they are talking about.... before this race mi mom was all best horse ever blah blah blah and I'm like wth she raced guys once.... she beat a bunch of the same girls over and over so wut that makes her good not great her getting 2nd in this elevated her so much for me amongst fillies. Personal Ensign will always be the real queen but after this race and Z's body of work she is 3rd for me all time (Go For Wand)

  • @4444IAmLegend Zen is by far and away the greatest filly or mare of all time and argueably one of the 5 greatest horses of all time. She is right up there with such greats like Secratariat, Seattle Slew, Ruffian, etc..

  • @layodrob she is the newest great and somebody u have seen. let me guess u have never seen personal ensign race? probably not go for wand either? let me guess u think secretariat is the best horse ever right? or is he even too old for u and u say curlin or something ROFLOL

  • @4444IAmLegend Actually I have seen Personal Ensign race ( great horse ). Just not the greatest horse I have ever seen run. I cant tell you who the greatest of all time is because they all ran in different eras and all accomplished great things in their time. I can tell you Personal Ensign is not the greatest of all time just based on what I have seen. I have obviously seen way more races than you as noted by your third grade vocabulary of ROFLOL. MORON!!!

  • @layodrob it's called shorthand genius. it's called freestyle writing on the computer ROFLOL. Personal Ensign is the best filly ever period. as for the best ever ummm that would be man o' war duh. the original big red is the best there was and the best there ever will be

  • @4444IAmLegend Now I do agree that Man was the greatest of them all. I will say if Personal Ensign was the best filly or mare ever how come she never won the BCC??? It was around when she was!!! Thats what I thought you putz. Besides lets call a spade a spade I have made more money betting on races than your mother has given you for allowances over the years.

  • @layodrob I always thought I was they only one who wished Personal Ensign ran in the Classic rather than Distaff. As Incredible as her run in the Distaff is, I won't deny that ever, I thought she should have raced in the Classic, yeah I know the excuse, she had 5 screws in her leg, I still think she could have taken on the boys there, the Distaff showed it, she was going to run her heart out no matter what. Personally her actual win vs. males I find a tad underwhelming. Great but not greatest.

  • @d9y8l7a6n5 thats all im saying compare apples to apples. Also if you compare the 2 races Zens final quarter vs older males was faster than PE final quarter vs a tiring Winning Colors. I really hate when people who dont know try to compare horses of different eras. Like gallopracerfan saying RA had nothing to prove in 09. What BS she had everything to prove. If you want to be the best you have to beat the best period!!

  • @layodrob In 2009 Rachel Alexandra proved she was the best filly to ever set foot on a race track bar none!!!!!!!!!

  • @Icyhotboo Sure she did if you consider beating a group of claimers in the Oaks and a mediocre field in the Preakness. She was far from the best filly to ever set foot on any racetrack. I can name atleast half a dozen or more fillies that could have beatin her in their prime not including Zen who would have discraced her had the two met. I could be wrong, but at last check Rachel never even won a Breeders Cup Race????? Just shows you know nothing about horse racing.
