  • yest another way the yanks attempt to change history! with there jew friends.

This tree is dead so offically not living so it cannot be the oldest tree..Perhaps the oldest bark.

And of course named after a jew!

  • @mbleft I am so envious. They are quite something to see. I love that you read about them as a kid and they made a lasting impression. Will you email about your experience there, either here or as a D? I'd love to hear from you.

  • These trees will be here when we are a faded memory.

  • @mbleft Thanks for the comment.

I hope you're right, but they do live in a very fragile environment. And some in Colorado have been threatened by an invasive fungus.

  • @davidlicata Thank you David, for the video. I'm gonna be out there in a couple of weeks and see em in person. I read a book about em when I was a kid and it's been stuck in my head ever since.

  • The location of very old trees should especially be kept secret from scientists...

  • @Dajida And probably most filmmakers, too.

  • @Dajida And especially American scientists...

  • Thanks for the post. Glad and relieved, it's a secret location with the nature of people now-a-days.

  • @cliffcox66 Thanks for watching. Yeah, it's a good thing it location is a secret. In a way, even well-meaning people would do it harm; I imagine people wanting to touch it, get a clipping or piece of bark, have their photos taken of themselves hugging it, climbing it, etc. None of that stuff would do the tree any good.

  • @davidlicata

I assume you know the story of WPN-114.

In 1964 Donald R. Currey, a graduate student in dendrochronology got the forest service to kill the oldest living tree known to man.

This isn't new. Not-so-well meaning people might kill a larger number, while well-meaning folks will kill the oldest, the largest, the smallest, the youngest, and the most curious. All in the name of science...

  • @Dajida Yeah, that's sad, sad story. Imagine the guilt and horror he felt when he realized he killed the tree...

Thanks for commenting. Hope to see you around these parts again. Or these parts:
