@bubbahockey11 This means your PS3 is probably dead. I dont know if there is a fix for it. At least on your own. Only way to do so is buy calling up Sony and send it in for repair or find an electronics shop that knows how.

what the hell u guys talking bout 360 being better, had one for about 3 months before rrod showed up and fucked me over had my ps3 for bout 2 years and its never fucked up before good reliable system and you wont get fucked by 3 flashing lights

I have the slim. I thought that it wouldn't turn on, but it just turns out that I had the PS2 chords plugged in that look the exact same, yellow, white, and red hahaha.

But anyways, that sucks and I hope that you make the money to repair it and repair it.

man, i wasnt aware of this problem till about 5 mins ago and it happened to mine. modern warfare2 just on the way. well i have had lots of problems with mine. this will be my 5th in 2 yrs but all still under guarantee so im not too bad i guess. it shows a vid on u tube on how to fix this problem but ill get a new one for free so i dont mind. as for the X-box. if i had to buy a new ps it would still be cheaper than line rental that you pay those leeches.

yea i had this problem too. the blinking red light means mainly 2 things your power supply is burnt or your ps3's firmware crashed in wich case you'r f****d. if its your power supply you can take your ps3 your local play n trade and they'll fix for about $80. its better than the 150 it takes to send it sony. YOU CANNOT fix this problem your self so dont waste time looking all over the internet like i did.

ok lisent to my story. i buy a 60gb kinda new from ebay and in 5 months its overheated playing RE5. so i got in touch with sony and thay sent me a box and i had to print out my paypal transaction from ebay to show them i buy it there it was a 60gb and of course in less then 2 weeks i got a new 60gb with that plastic on the case so it wont scratch and damn so awesome brand new!! and a year of warranty ^^

If it's still under warrenty it should be free. If not then it's 150 dollars. Check with Sony customer service either through it's website or call them up.

If you owned it for less then a year and it broke then its free. If its over a year and it broke then its out of warranty and you will have to pay for the repair if you send it to sony.

well my friend just bought a new hard drive and installed it and his works again so u shoulc try using an external hard drive and see what happens and then purchase an internal ne for ps3.

I'll look into it. I'm not too sure an external hard drive would work. Not only that but I would have to buy an external hard drive to test it, then i would have to buy an internal drive, which would cost me around 150 if not much higher for two hard drives. It would be a waste if it isnt the hardrive thats the problem. Probably just be cheaper and safer to pay the 150 dollars to get it fixed unless theres a way to know it really needs just a new hard drive. But Thanks anyway for the help.

Ive heard this too. Ive also heard its due to overheating. Its either one or the other. So which is it? I hope its just the hard drive because it wold be cheaper to fix. but i'm not to sure.

Yea, if it's warrenty expired you have to pay Sony to fix it (which happend to me). It's 150dollars I think to have it fixed.

Thing is I pretty much have to get it fixed since mine is a 60gig model with PS2 backward capatible. Its hard to find one that can play PS2 games.
