@MrGriser Liverpool-Cardiff stopped a good few years ago - I recall that in 2008 there was a Cardiff-Liverpool service that departed Cardiff at 04.35 and was the only train per day to Liverpool. However, there may be a new service from Cardiff to Liverpool as part of the Manchester/Holyhead services which would detach/attach at Crewe or Shrewsbury and would be an Arriva Trains Wales service (possibly a 153 service joined to a 158/175).
