oh my gosh! YOU ARE AMAZING!!!!! great job..seriously! one of the best covers I've ever heard! even though the style or type of song doesn't completely match your voice type it still sounded phenomenal!! (:
A little fast, but damn this is great! Nothing sounds strained but at 12, I might've been able to sing that high somewhat well, now it's pretty difficult.
I wasn't playing the Piano on this recording, and I also did this recording two years ago so I'm not sure what key it was in then either. I'm sure you can pick up the rent book in any store that sells Sheet-Music or on a Sheet Music website.
omigod hey alex its claudia from BAA member me? ahh i miss u so much and emily and becky and maia and doug and maddie and whoever else i missed!!! u sounded so much different then! so cute! ur amazing and i luv and miss u lots!! :P
You sang this really well, but I think you should have sang a song that fits your voice better. You do have an amazing voice though. Keep singing and don't get discouraged. You rock!!!!!!!
Ok, this song was really not meant for teenage voices. It was meant for a changed, experienced voice. Seriously, teenagers singing all of these rock scores (In the Heights, Passing Strange, Spring Awakening, Jersey Boys, Wicked, Avenue Q, The Lion King, Rent) is ruining their voices. And, this is a role with people who have LIFE EXPERIENCES that are similar to what Roger went through. What 12 year-old knows about AIDS (in-depth) and drugs? Stick to Rodgers & Hammerstein, Webber, and Sondheim.
If you look for the greater meaning of the song its about living with disease and the though of you/others around you dying. At 12 years old i had my fair share. my father had stage four cancer twice. I am now 14 and even at twelve most people can grasp a thing like this. i disagree with your view of kids my age as being incompetent to understand subject matter like this. you obviously have little knowledge about a voice becasue none of the musicals listed ruin voices. thanks for the feedback.
Ever wondered why they make school editions? A lot of the time, it's not content, but changing the score to make it more appropriate for teenage voices. My cousins' school is doing "Rent: School Edition", and they are changing the score a lot so it won't kill Roger and Mimi's voices. Also, you must have little knowledge of voice, because almost all of those shows have scores that ruin voices. Caissie Levy, who is a professional singer had to leave "Wicked", because it was killing her voice.
Willemijn Verkaik now only does about 5 shows a week of "Wicked", because it's too much for her voice, too. Also, Kerry Ellis has Julie on a lot, because it ruins her voice if she does the show too often. Even if you watch a video of Idina Menzel in her London run of "Wicked", you can see that after doing "Wicked" for so long, her voice does not sound as good, not as rich as it used to.
Also, I forgot to add "Dreamgirls" to that list of shows, because many actresses who have played Effie on the tour and Broadway have had to either cut down on shows or leave the company because of the vocal demands. "Les Misérables" is also a show that teenagers shouldn't sing (regular version), and "The Phantom of the Opera" (although they legally can't do the full show anyway).
well of course over and over again it might hurt your voice and especially if you don't take proper measures to take care of it. but if you take good care of your voice singing one of these songs once in a while is okay. U seem to have quite a lot of knowledge about these musicals, but thanks for your feedback. ill make sure to take care of my voice.
Man you "Broadway types" are so friggin serious. I know a little girl who has lived with AIDS since birth (she's now 16) who would beg to differ with your moronic statement. Alex obviously has his shit together and strikes me as an intelligent, articulate young man. Not to mention talented. I'll also say gracious because most 14 year olds would have flamed the shit out of you and verbally ripped you a new sphincter. Rather ostentatious statements on your part. Lighten up Francis. Good Day Sir.
Yea we are very serious at being somthing one day and as you can see we try our hardest to do that alex here finds his corner of the sky which he sings now and hes very good we want to make a name for ourselves.
