This isn't uncommon, lady runs the management company for our HOA does that (hiring her relatives and friends, and no qualificaion disclosed) all the time. You can easily see this is just a tip of iceberg.
It's just the nature of HOA, which invites the corruption.
I suggested we'll have our online space where all the info. the members ask posted and discuss the matters without going to the monthly meeting but was turned down without explanation.

Yes, you can legally remove the management company by written vote. See the Florida Statutes for more details!
