@Anteroization that's a bit of a reach there.. Major composer of the second half of the 20th Century? Ab solutely. Most influential composer of the second half of the 20th century? Quite possibly. "Best" of the entire 20th century? A bit more of a reach than any practicioner would likely make.

i kinda liked it until he started singing. i guess i'm still too punkrock for some stuffs even 30 years later. however, back then I'd possibly have thrown bottles at it from the first note so maybe this is growth or just another example of how we all slowly day by day become everything we once hated.
Oh wow! Thanks for posting this! This was one of my favorite albums and brings back bittersweet memories from 1981 of being a weird punk kid in a hick town.
polyrock. first girlfriends. first car that barely ran. live shows at the whiskey, when punk/new wave was in its infancy, feelings of fearlessness, yet alienated...and polyrock on the tape deck, while trying to score beer, and be cool. "I took my better nature out, and drowned it in the babbling stream. Took the blossom of my youth, and blew it all to smithereens"-EC.
I remember seeing these guys on a show called Livewire on Nickelodeon back in the 80's. I forget what else the show had but for some reason this stood out.
once i was record shopping, somebody asked to take my photo for an article, they asked me to hold up my finds, i had a polyock album, i already had the polyrock record, but, i need to buy alll the polyrock lps,it's like a conspiricy, or that movie, so i'm neurotic, oh, and polyrock is great. that article may have come out, but i never saw it. it would've been pretty sweet to see me with polyrock in print though.
A volte mi domando perchè dei pezzi così meravigliosi ed una band così originale non abbiano avuto un risalto superiore...grazie a chi ha scaricato questi fantastici video!
So happy to share this video and Polyrock with my kids. I owned all their albums. I learned about while working at Nickelodeon one summer, before the station went commercial. They had appeared on a show, I think it was called Livewire, and they played this song.
one of my all time favorite bands. I liked them since the first time I heard them in 1982 in a underground radio station in Lima(peru)which just played new wave at the time.
When I first saw/heard this and the video for Bucket Rider I was about 12-13 and it was on a late night video show that I would watch while living in Millwaukee WI called "Rock World". I used to record the audio of good songs on a small cassette recorder and I coould only keep them on tape for awbout a week cause the songs/videos SCARED me so much! I spent the next 14 years trying to find out who they where or the name of the songs!
I remember Rock World. I was a late Friday Night video show that aired before MTV came out and it specialized in New Wave that was so different then most stuff going on in the U.S. then that is why it scared you.
I thought I would never hear this song again and this is the first time I have ever seen the vid. and I heard this song on musichoice (cable audio channel) today for the first time since this was a college radio staple back in '80. The song is better then I remembered
Oh that's a bummer! 'Your Dragging Feet' is my favorite from Polyrock. That song introduced me to this great band. I love 'Romantic Me' too. Thanks for sharing!
