Bill O is the man. He wants all people to help them selves when they can. He wants a strong economy so everyone can easily find a job. It's not that he doesn't believe in those social programs, he just wants the economy to get better so they don't have to be so big, so less people depend on them.
Bill M loves entitlements for all. The more people on them, the worst off the economy is.

When you give free money to the poor you encourage laziness and irresponsible behavior. I have no problem with helping out the poor provided they are willing to help themselves as well. EVERY welfare recipient should be forced to pass a drug test before they receive one dime. All able bodied adults should be forced to work for their welfare check by doing some sort of community service to benefit society. Finally, no more babies to welfare moms so they can collect more food stamps.

I wonder if people will ever realize that socialism isn't all bad. It isn't perfect but then again neither is capitalism. In fact, if both ideologies were brought together they could probably work if done correctly.A little side note, what most "Christian Republicans" don't realize is that their Lord and Savior was a socialist as well. Just something for conservative America to think about.

I read the Wiki on Petty and realized that the subsidies given in America to various enterprises-agriculture, defense(indirectly) and financial institutions, to name but a few-are much like Petty's "keep 'em employed" scheme. Kind of reminds me of ancient Mayans, who'd commission works from the very best artisans for their periodic sacrificial shindigs, where everything got thrown, virgins and all, into a hole

We don't need more stuff... we need more consumers; don't need more workers... we need more work... even useless and destructive work. That's a big reason for the size of the military but the world is chock-a-block full of ridiculous waste... jobs which mainly serve to keep "employment" at such a level as to keep the political paradigms operational. When you work hard/smart to get rich, you'll resent being told you're not paying enough, and realize how hard it is, and how it really isn't as much as you think. When you make $9/hour, the guy making $100k must look like he's flying around the world in private jets... hardly. Everyone I know who's become wealthy wants to keep it. Of course, guys like Mitt Romney DO want to "help a little" through gifts to charity, but I doubt you approve of that.
