The flute solo suits better the orchestra version. The original sounds more like a guitar. And it's a solo! It should be played differently every time.

I feel like I'm 7 years old again, reading the manuals for the C64, printing out my brothers name as well as some naughty words together with it using a few lines of BASIC, just to finish off with loading a game for what felt as an eternity just to listen to the music. Damn those memories.

@bub777 Oh god yes, the one problem with a lot of classical ensembles is when they rely on rhythm without percussion or just plain old rock drums. Would make things that much more exciting. HOWEVER I'm just very pleased to see a group like this playing ... 8-bit game music ?? Good melodies, ultimately, are king and will survive any legions of teen-worshipping pop rubbish.

Nah, the original is actually superior to this, but their "Delta" is spot on.

I can't trust Hubbards judgement outside the sid-chip. Most of it is completely bland.

Great arrangement, but why change the best part so much?

The "cool bit" in the middle was a Hubbard trademark and it's spoiled to the detriment of the rest of the piece. It's such an awesome lead. Why do some stilted, jittery flute bit, when on the 64 it was a smooth, groovy piece of awesome?

Why can't it be replicated? Is it too hard to play?

The last third lends itself to being "classical" and they don't touch it, and it works. I still don't get why the middle lead "cool bit" is ruined.

@pezztube Yes, it was too hard to replicate. Being one of the initiators of this project I can tell you flat out ROB HUBBARD himself arranged this classical version and the part played by the flute was a substitude for the unplayable solo!

It's too bad the original solo couldn't be kept, but that's computers for ya! Computers can play intervals at speeds musicians can't!
