lmao ...ive been marriead ..to a stallion for 20 years...ok im on bacardi tonight...hic up..............bi polar too........ sorry i deserve a watch that plays a nice tune...agggh sorry all
Does anyone notice that as the bridge is blowing up a hunk of metal or stone that misses Eastwood by a about a foot and slams so hard into a sandbag that it knocks it askew. That could have ended the movie.
actor eli didnt even get any royalties after the film and i think clint still does. thats just wrong!!!!!!!!!!! without eli, this film would be just another paint your wagon
@subslament This is from "The Leone Style", one of many mini-documentaries on a bonus disc from "The 2-disc DVD Collector's Set" version of GBU, released about 2007.
I highly recommend getting this version of GBU if you ever wanna buy this film. The sound is in stereo, the features are wonderful, and it even comes with several little posters of GBU from different countries. It's DEFINITELY worth a "few dollars more". :)
ALL THREE factors (countries) conspired to give the world one of the best movies (note I did not just say "best WESTERN movie") of all time.
Great Spanish scenery plus great actor extras.
Italian director (Leone, influenced by Japanese director Kurosawa) able to dismiss Hollywood's sanitized versions of westerns and create a true masterpiece.
American actors (Eastwood, Van Cleef, and in particular, Wallach) to complete the "Trifecta of a Classic".
For me this is the real deal western. Not the phony ass John Wayne crap. This is grit, texture, guns dust and dirt. Love every second of this film. This movie is like good cooking made with love.
I wouldn't go that far. But i just personally like the style of the SWrns. The Wayne era was a different time of film making. With Sergio everything is amplified so much more and exaggerated. It underscores the drama that much more.
@ThundaLippz So? Did not getting an Oscar take anything away from Eli's genius performance? Absolutely NOT! Does anyone remember who got the Oscars that year? We'd probably have to look it up somewhere but even a 5 year old would know about Tuco to this day! Awards are just dumb plastic trinkets people wearing white collars decide to give out to look superior. It's the movie or piece of art form itself that transcends time!
Eli how I loved his character of Tuco and grew up on it. So stupid of me how I would watch him on "God Father Series" of movies and never put the two together that he was Tuco! He got old quick. Man they just dont make movies like this any more... "Eeeho Di Grand Puta!" Man thanks for posting this. Truly a American Classic by a Great Italian Director! We miss you Sergio the closest thing we have now is "Robert Rodriguiz"
not an american classic...it's an italian film shot in spain with mostly spanish actors, a few italian and the 3 main stars being american.....
if you like gbu try watching the 2nd best western ever made...by leone of course...the epic once upon a time in the west..also an italian spagetti western with 3 american stars, fonda,bronson,robards..no tuco unfortunately but classic none the less its from 1968 two years after gbu..hope this helps you rookies out there peace out
Rookie? I doubt it. I was actually around when the movie came out in 66 I am well versed and educated on the facts about the film and why they were called "spaghetti" westerns (Not Spelled spegetti as you spelled it) I know it was filmed in spain as my family is from there I am basque myself. I totally know who Sergio is and show his daughter is. I know all his epic films "Once Upon a time in america" and so on. Sorry but this film is a american classic as its the bread and butter of "Americana"
it just happens to be filmed by a italian. But its still a Americana piece of history Its not a piece of Italian culture. Its a piece of American heritage and culture.
It's directed by an italian, the music was made by an italian, the screenplay written by two italians, and it was filmed in spain with a mainly spanish crew!

@dancinkindofguy Unfortunately Van Cleef died many years before they got the documentary together. He died on December 16, 1989. :(
