how do you know that stang makes 408? If you are reffering to the fox body that had the last race, it means a 408 cubic inch v8. What H/C/I means I have no idea, I would like to know, but that fox is a through and through drag car with a short final drive. A 2.3l whipple at 19psi with a decent tune is usually pushing 530-550whp, that supra I assume is around 500 on the dot with a crappy midrange.
@ztunelover H/C/I = Heads Cam Intake. a 2.3 whipple cobra with cams on 19 psi should make well over 600 to the tire. my 2.3 on 18 psi and a great tune makes 620.

What is brake boosting? I hear that term a lot but never got a real definition. Is it just pressing the brakes and the throttle at the same time to spool the turbo while maintaining the same speed?
You know one thing that always confuses me? Why go for a 76mm turbo if you only push 17psi of boost. A 67 can give you 17 psi of boost with a fatter midrange. Sometimes supra owners confuse me.
I still dont understand the reasoning behind the 76mm, a 67 would have given the guy better midrange. And if it does have a built shortblock, with 264 cams he could do with 19psi with a good 67mm, its just silly.

Like all LS series motors, they are lightweight because they are aluminum block. The LS1 is pretty light too even with the 4L60E.

American cars mostly have pure engine power while Japanese cars have to have a turbo or some sort of mod to make it fast. Supra for example- twin turbo-ed 6cyl that produces 326 horsepower while a regular mustang produces 315 pure engine power. Add a single supercharger and you have about 500 or more horsepower. And when the Supra came out in 93 with 320 hp the Mustang Cobra was only making 235 hp, and the Corvette was only making 300. Turbos are just a different method to making hp, same as big displacement or high revs.
while i completely agree with you on the aspect that both americans and imports make good cars, i would have to disagree with the statement that american cars make more power easily. jap cars can put down insanely impressive numbers with a simple protune. my point being, both americans and domestics (obviously depends on the car) can both put down a good bit of power with little work.
My reasoning was that Japanese cars usually need turbo kits to put down impressive numbers, and when they do its VERY impressive, whereas on the other hand, only a few bolt on modifications (non-forced induction) are needed to get into the 500hp range for domestic, then when you supercharge...you know the drill. Well that's my reasoning at least, but its cool you didn't flame when you had a different opinion than mine, pretty rare.

What is brake boosting? I hear that term a lot but never got a real definition. Is it just pressing the brakes and the throttle at the same time to spool the turbo while maintaining the same speed?
You know one thing that always confuses me? Why go for a 76mm turbo if you only push 17psi of boost. A 67 can give you 17 psi of boost with a fatter midrange. Sometimes supra owners confuse me.

I still dont understand the reasoning behind the 76mm, a 67 would have given the guy better midrange. And if it does have a built shortblock, with 264 cams he could do with 19psi with a good 67mm, its just silly.

@ztunelover yeah honda guys and supra guys do the same thing get the biggest turbo they can afford and strap it on with no regard to throttle response and powerband . I hve yet to lose a race to a supra not claiming ti be the fastest but by the time you spool up i am already ahead and each time you change gears u gotta spool up again. ppl seem 2 forget that although the 2J is a good motor it is still only 180cu in thats Y alot of them run a 50-75 shot to help them spool

I never understood why people put a huge turbo with an already small powerband and proceed to run a psi level that is barely in the efficiency range.
It's really easy. Go with a smaller turbo, and get way better spool and transient responce with the same power.

@304teddy The unmodified 2005 13B-MSP Renesis has a curb weight of 122kg. and stock twin turbo kits are heavy as on the REW, not that thtas an excuse, still part of the engine. most of the extra weight is in that system, i dont knw where u got ur info bowt about the weight difference but im not sure either. at the end of the day fd rx7 2002 weight 1270kg, has 300hp+ stock and heaps of high rpm torque.(well enough for a 1270kg car). 250kph limited top speed

get your your facts straight. The fastest RX-7 that came from the factory had 276hp and 263ft-lbs of torque and 1282kg (2830lbs)

@dkill429 ok, its ot pretty good high end torque and power, add a light weight car with a aerodynamic car means its fast. they can go 150mph (250kph) stock. check out rx7 spirit type r. they have enough torque, and heaps of room 4 tuning. ie single turbo.

Just forget the guy, he is going to be a faggot about it. The LS7 is pretty light actually for a 7.0L V8. It's an aluminum block so of course it will be pretty lightweight. Like all LS series motors, they are lightweight because they are aluminum block. The LS1 is pretty light too even with the 4L60E.

because rx7s make 300hp out of a 1.3, which gives it a huge weight advantage, less moving parts and smoother operation. plus u can just bolt rotor housing onto rotor housing. theyre all good. and and they have good torque for a 1.3, over 300nm. and u can still get shit loads more out of them

Yeah, we never had anything like that in the states. US spec RX7's were indeed rated at (only) 255. In fact, we only had the FD from 93-95; maybe if Mazda kept it around longer we'd have gotten a more potent version.

The dipshit down below obviously doesnt know what he is talking about. Japanese cars do suck. Hate to break it to you but they suck ass. American cars mostly have pure engine power while Japanese cars have to have a turbo or some sort of mod to make it fast. Supra for example- twin turbo-ed 6cyl that produces 326 horsepower while a regular mustang produces 315 pure engine power. Add a single supercharger and you have about 500 or more horsepower. Point proven. Ricers blow!!!!!

And when the Supra came out in 93 with 320 hp the Mustang Cobra was only making 235 hp, and the Corvette was only making 300. Turbos are just a different method to making hp, same as big displacement or high revs.

while i completely agree with you on the aspect that both americans and imports make good cars, i would have to disagree with the statement that american cars make more power easily. jap cars can put down insanely impressive numbers with a simple protune. my point being, both americans and domestics (obviously depends on the car) can both put down a good bit of power with little work.

My reasoning was that Japanese cars usually need turbo kits to put down impressive numbers, and when they do its VERY impressive, whereas on the other hand, only a few bolt on modifications (non-forced induction) are needed to get into the 500hp range for domestic, then when you supercharge...you know the drill. Well that's my reasoning at least, but its cool you didn't flame when you had a different opinion than mine, pretty rare.
