@OTmikhail Thanks for honestly displaying your excitement about Gingrich's space ideas. It seems like he does speak a lot of truth about our programs's necessary future. It's really hard to believe that he would make a Moon base a serious priority though.
It's easy to see why other space enthusiasts have had such a negative reaction to his announcement. The guy seems like he has some serious scumbag qualities.
I love your videos BTW. I wish you a large audience.
@jaimshynba I agree with a lot of people's reaction to Newt, but at the same time I gotta give him props for bringing attention to space ideas in general.
Thanks for liking my videos, I wish I had a larger audience too, so i could become a partner and make enough money to do this full time. But I guess I could use all the help I can get. Tell all your friends about me.
Bigelow Aerospace and SpaceX together could easily put a small base on the Moon for a fraction the cost it would take the government or NASA to do it.
If you are looking up to democracy supporting space exploration, 10000 other people will be looking up to better housing. (Just check out the number ov views if you do not believe me). WE ARE THE ELITE.
Many people must not realise. Obama is paying to rip the shuttles apart for SLS test flights not to develop the real hardware that allows the real thing to fly (RS25E, J2X, advanced booster).
SLS is not a real rocket. It has 10 years to get the axe just like Ares V and since it's not really being developed it's most likely that it will get the chop.
I would love to see 30k people living on the moon. I would also love to see Warp drive. I don't think either will be happening by 2021. I did like Buzz Aldrins idea of a ship that just does round trips to moon and Mars. It was on his Twitter page a few weeks ago.
But it would be great if a commercial company like SpaceX would go to the moon and back
by 2020 or something. If commercial spaceflight takes off in the US other countries will have a very hard time catching up atleast 20 years or something.
And also we should be able to reach Mars before anyone else.
So Newt's plan is kind of goofy but it was good that he adressed the Space issue.
But he did it in Florida so it was just political.
There was a huge populism in his speech. I believe that the money for the lunar base will finally finish in big defense contractors companies such as Boeing or Lockheed Martin which is already building the Orion spacecraft. Because American government is a customer which never complains. NASA should focus on real space exploration and not finance a loss making companies, which were in previous year contractors for space shuttle. There is lack of focus in NASA and lack of efficiency.
There is no progress in last 30 years in you compare it with firsts 20 years of existence of NASA. Let give you an example. Building Endeavour cost about $1.7 billion. One launch costs around $450 million. Probability that you will die in Soyuz is 1:10 000. Probability that you will die in space shuttle was 1 to 70. There could be already a Moon and Mars bases; however the NASA funds and potential is used wrongly I hope that the companies such as SpaceX and programs as COTS will end this agony.
@pedroprague As cool as these ideas are i doubt that they will come to fruition under a NASA program, maybe international, but most likely commercial.
Hopefully as technology advances and entry barriers are lowered, more and more private/public companies and collaborations can develop and deploy systems to usher in a spacefaring age. And as this happens hopefully the talent at NASA and across government contractors will be drawn toward these emerging endeavors and business models. Open Source space ship?
Having green screen issues myself. I can't donate as I'm buying cameras for movie productions but I'll keep throwing video responses at you when I can.
I think all the old media is the joke as they have no vision of the future. Whatever you think of Newt at least as you said he put it out there.
@RobertVollrath just remember whatever your "screen" is that it is perfectly flat with no wrinkles. As far as Newt is concerned I think he's a pompous ass and will never vote for him, but as far as space goes, he does have cool ideas.
I'm glad you looked at his proposal and didn't instantly make fun of him like most of the main stream media. We need more visionaries! Its a bold idea.

@OTmikhail You can consider contacting astrospherevids (Weekly Space Hangout) and see if the two channels can promote each other's show.

Does anyone know Gingrich's position on Evolution and Global Warming??
KKM121 3 weeks ago
Gingrich promises to set up a permanent Moon base by the end of his 2nd term.
America got to the Moon in such a hurry that the technology became unsustainable. The designs were too expensive to reproduce in the long run.
Will this be a problem again if the US rush a Moon base??
KKM121 3 weeks ago
@KKM121 maybe, but a few miracles would need to happen before NASA took this up.
