Paul Williams cowrote this song with a songwriter by the name of Jon Vezner. Jon is the husband of singer Kathy Mattea, and has had his songs recorded by the likes of country singers Lorrie Morgan, Steve Wariner, and of course, his wife, Kathy. "You're Gone" became a hit for the country group Diamond Rio. I've been a fan of Paul's music since the early 70's when I first heard "We've Only Just Begun" by the Carpenters. Thanks for posting this.
@MrBBJane yes thanks for your thoughts re this song and PW. I had not known this song until now. PW has said in interviews its the realization that the emotions he expressed in his songs were also being felt and shared by others that made song writing a career for him. many Thanks for posting this song.
I grew up as a child listening to my mum turn up the volume to songs such as "That's enough for me" and "Let me be the one". She would get very emotional when listening to Paul Williams. I'm now 37 and my children understand that me crying to his songs is not a bad thing. I had never heard this song before, and know it will be another special song for me. Thankyou to Mr Williams for enabling people to have these connections in their lives.
Could anyone please tell me when Paul Williams released this song? Thank you.
