Fire requires FUEL, OXYGEN and HEAT if you substitute oxygen for popcorn then it aint gonna burn which is good cause i hate burnt popcorn... water is the best fuel for fire cause it evaporates into flammable steam and can then explode! if your tv was on fire would you use water onit? NO cause the water will explode! the best thing to put fire out is petrol cause its vapour is too thick to ignite without a meat skewer.
And this is the reason why gasoline should never be used except for it's original purpose (firing an engine). I don't buy the author's explanation. Anything else could have and should have been used...even building a simple fire within and waiting for it to cook.
Ive been a firefighter for 4 years now, this was a fire company in Amsterdam, upstate new york, just a few hours from where my station is located... just would like to add that everyone survived, 5 firefighters were sent to the hospital for that incident. It's a video we watch in training every year to get the effect that we all shouldnt use gasoline for a training drill.
I have been a firefighter for 13 years and the only time we used gasoline was at the training center in the flammable liquids pit. It's a miracle no one was killed. Also I have to agree with kitbomb about the kids being there. I think it was very irresponsible for the parents to allow the kids on scene. Coul have been very traumatic for them.
I hope a good lesson was learned here. It's a miracle no one was killed. Especially the guy who was stupid enough to use gasoline to stoke the fire for TRAINING!!!! As for the kids they shouldn't have been there in the first place
I think if someone was vaporized, the old dude with the camera would not have been like "Could one of you kids kick those pieces of wood off the road?"
first of all im a firefighter and secondly im a father, if I just watched a guy get blasted like that I would be telling my kid that it was just an accident and we dont know if he is hurt, kids dont need to know the horror that comes with being a firefighter and seeing what a firefighter has to see on a daily basis
Avoidable. Use cardboard boxes to start training fires.
