you have to realize that all their sticks were COVERED with stick wax... it's real easy to do this with wax...try with no tape at all...then you'll get good at it

just so you know the way they do it at the heal of the blade is the simple way...once you have mastered that....try it at the toe of the blade....it gets a little more complicated

some ideas: stick wax will help, the more flex in your shaft will also help, try an 85 "medium flex" if using a senior shaft, in addition work on keeping the hands about one glove length apart & keep them and the shaft very close to the ice @ beginning of the scoop
