Satanism is actually a ''religion'' that puts you yourself before anyone... The whole story ''satanic bible'' doesn't actually say anything about praying to the devil or anything.. So ''Satanism'' isn't a religion.. It's just a book that talks about putting yourself before anyone else..
I'm atheist who tries to be as open-minded as possible to the supernatural. I ain't denying religion, but as long as there is no proof, I ignore it.. And take parts in the usually stupid arguments..
@CuntTornado Nope! Just some silly crank calls. We were always afraid we'd get it in the parking lot of the tv studio...lol But no, nothing bad has come to TAE that way that I'm aware of.
I think EVERY geographic region should have an ATHIEST COMMUNITY just as every area has churches and synagogues and temples etc. not just AUSTIN TEXAS (though it is a good start)

Rom.1:19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. Rom 1:20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, [even] his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse
But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know [them], because they are spiritually discerned. 1CR 2:14
Okay, just quoting the Bible isn't going to suffice. You need to explain it, what it means to you, or stop doing that. I've read the Bible plenty, thanks.
And why do I need to do that ? Will that help you see that God loves you and is real ? Will that help you believe ? Lets not forget why I am posting these truths. Not to fight and argue, believe me. It is, though, to stand up for the truth . I will not make myself vulnerable though or a target by talking about personal things. I never thought I would hear an atheist say "stop doing that ". Which leads me to believe maybe something is getting through.
For the word of God [is] quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and [is] a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Hebrews 4:12
It doesnt feel strange at all, as matter of fact its quite fulfilling.
1CR 1:21" For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe"
Psa.14:1 To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.
And that line comes from a foolish heart that has been darkened. The verses from the Bible are inspired and given by the Holy Spirit and written centuries ago. But of course, you dont have any faith so you cant see that.
How come no one ever argues the message of the bible with them? Everyone wants to boo and hiss that theya are mean bullys. The bible says exactly what they are preaching. If god forgives and loves everyone then why are some people going to hell?
LOL Joe ok well I actually grew up in N.J. right by N.Y. City moved to Ohio in 1985 when I was about to turn 16 anyway I recently started listening to TAE via Podcast while I walk & I am going to start watching the show on Sunday's via UStream I think it would be good if you were the host along with Matt
Hello Joe I recently started listening to the PodCast's of The Atheist Experience while I walk four to five hours in the morning surveying natural gas lines in Dayton Ohio I really really enjoy their show how come you are no longer on it on Sunday's ? Just wondering
Why am I no longer on the show? That's a very good question. Well in December of 1998 I had to stop doing the show so I could move with American Atheists up to New Jersey. By the time I returned to Texas in 2004, the show was run by an entirely different cast and crew. Now I try to start good things and let other activists run them shortly after that. It's a formula that seems to work. Plus there was a lot of soap opera, so I was happy to move on. Bigger and better things! :o)
You mean communism is the only secular form of governing? I beg to differ.
Well, coming from an ex-soviet country myself, I disagree. Heck, that's not even important to know the difference between communism and atheism. While some communists maybe 'had to be' atheists de jure, that does not mean atheism equals communism, it's pretty obvious logical fallacy. It's like saying dogs have legs, men have legs, hence dogs are men.
satanists are the last of roman pagan belife, how can atheist which is a latin word which means without belife be a member of a religion. i may not spell that well, but even i know the differarnce.
satanisum comes froms the roman cult of saturn, which was a cult of exsess.
GwLDS Yes except for one thing: Atheism is living without religious beliefs, not just any kind of beliefs. We have other beliefs, just not on gods. :o)
i know that it was just the Satanist thing it make no sence to have confusion with it. i say live and let live, if people are nice to me i am nice back, if people are not then they should run lol.
the trouble i think is there are too many people trying to tell others how live.
I just wanted to say that it saddens me to hear even outspoken atheists don't know "What exactly is an atheist". Lacking the belief in supernatural isn't the same as lacking the belief in god, the former is more like being a naturalist. As for satanism, they should have specified they were talking about theistic satanism. But, hey, I understand they're not theologians.
Anyways, apart from that, always nice to see more atheistic movements. Props (Y)
yazzislav - We didn't say we didn't know what exactly is an Atheist. We just asked the question and answered it, for the audience. We still get that question asked of us. We didn't get into the finer details or split hairs over it much. This was in 1996. Are you sure you think it's nice to see more Atheistic movements though? Doesn't sound like it.
Getting the basics right isn't exactly splitting hairs, in my opinion. Sure, majority of atheists might be naturalists, but that's not what the question asked. And I think the literal and/or semantic definition of atheism back in '96 was still the same as today. And why do you question my eagerness to welcome atheistic movements?
Well we were new to talking about it in public, and all volunteers. A lot of this was new to us anyway, and I was brand new to the movement at the time myself. We learned as we went. My question just seemed like a logical one. Nevermind...
I understand that. I didn't mean to sound provocative or offending, it was just a remark. Being an atheist myself, I genuinely feel happy for the movement you guys established. Awkward or imperfect as this pilot might seem, it's nevertheless a bold and necessary step. Don't have any such atheists' communities in Estonia as far as I know.
Maybe here is a confusion because Satanists are atheists (I am talking about Satanism from Anton Lavey perspective) and not atheists are Satanists (only a part of atheists are Satanists).
In my experience (from when I lived in rural Texas), this is not the source of confusion. Lots of people actually don't distinguish atheists from satanists because they have been in a homogeneously Christian society their entire lives. Non-Christians in general are often equated with Satanists, and atheists are considered some of the worst, so the association seems natural to lots of Christians.
How large a group is the ACA? It's been my understanding that Texas is "Bible belt" country, and that finding atheists in such a large Christian majority area would be difficult. Also, since you are opposing prayer meetings in schools, have you ever been threatened?
Largo64 - I think the ACA has around 100 paid members right now, but thousands of fans of their TV show, all over the world. The ACA is also the most active local social Freethought group in America. We have other Freethought groups here, because Austin is such a liberal town. I haven't been threatened by any theists since around 2002, and that wasn't in Texas. I expect at least some resistance, but I'm not doing very much to bother them. I really can't...
Nice to see you are still active on YT :). I'll move soon to Houston where is that hamster Joel Osteen and all that divine environment. How do you think I feel moving to Delusionland?
felixpetrar - Yes please come to Texas. We need more Freethinkers here. We have lots though, and some really active local Freethought groups. Just don't get onto any kind of plane or bus or subway with Mrs. Osteen. Apparently she's the JR Ewing is the skies...lol
The message was for Largo64 but now that you answered I checked your channel. It is a cool channel and I checked "Christians who misbehave". Funny material ! :)
aajoeyjo-thank you for the invitation. Actually, I feel alone here too. The only atheist friends I have in Chicago are two Romanians and we are all three from Transylvania. If I say somehow that I don't believe in a god, people react very violent against me so I prefered to shut up. I feel bad seeing people wasting their life with empty hopes but it is a Romanian proverb "if you don't let them die, they don't let you live"
felixpetrar That's a pretty depressing proverb. I'd hate to go to Romania! Well all that adds up to, Romania needs an Atheist group. They'd really get violent about it? That's all the more reason to speak out. Just find some allies first...
You understood wrong:).It is difficult to find atheists in US unless you pick up the phone book and start looking especially for them. I met these Romanian atheists in Chicago and none of us knew the others from Romania. People in US react bad if they find I am atheist. In Romania I would have NO PROBLEM. I saw on wikipedia at "religions by country" that Romania and Moldavia are the most religious country in the world (99%) and that is not true: 8000 atheists to 20 000 000 people? No way
I have too many atheist friends at home and I don't think I am so lucky.Romania was a communist country and we had a very good school system with no religious interference. NOW is something cooking there because the government does clear steps:1)introduced religion classes(optional)in school,2)took out of philosophy class the topic about god,3)substracted evolution from biology class,4)next year religion will be mandatory in school. Do you know who is behind this?Evangelists from USA...Texas
spinkwotzer - Yes, and 10 years in our movement is a very long time. What's important to note is two things: at the time of our show starting, there weren't more than a handful of other Atheist talkshows that had ever existed up to that point, and also we had almost no funding or training or experience at first. Just this one episode was the biggest accomplishment for the group up to that point. Anyway I was really nervous...:o)
I guess I was judging it on how entertaining and informative it was managing to be, rather than on the fact that it was significant for it to be done at all. I guess that was a bit ignorant of me, and I apologise for any offence caused. Good for you for sticking your neck out...
spinkwotzer No worries. It is primitive and a bit boring. Well that is unless the viewer has never heard this sort of talk. No offense taken. Hey we got Christian callers who brought us offense, so this is fine. We need constructive criticism. Also we're doing better, including me, and our necks are still proudly stuck out. It's all good.

Just filling up this video page with your comments isn't convincing or very mature. It helps in life to have some self control.

Hey! I used that very line in another video about religion. It's very familiar to us Atheist activists.
I always respond with this: If even a FOOL can figure it out, what's YOUR excuse?
aajoeyjo 2 years ago
And that line comes from a foolish heart that has been darkened. The verses from the Bible are inspired and given by the Holy Spirit and written centuries ago. But of course, you dont have any faith so you cant see that.
tsytb 2 years ago
So what part of "fool" is inspired? Sounds like a paranoid ad-hominem attack, but of course, way back then, no one knew the proper ways to debate.
I have lots of faith - in real things. Religion does not have a monopoly on faith.
Tell me, have you ever prayed for world peace? Do you think anyone else ever has?
