Hey! I like the idea of doing a mixer! I might try it at the next wedding I do. One question I have is what other dances like this do you do at your gigs?
This is the big one I do. There are a few others I do occasionaly but this one is sort of my signature dance. There are several DJs who do this one in the area. I do it a little differently than many on timing and organization.
i love the mixer..and it seems to work realy wel at ur gigs..just wondering was there ever a time wen people didnt form the circle and basicaly people told u to f off..that wud b my biggest fear. im doing a cinderella ball in october..i might try the mixer then.where i live iv never heard of this being done so it wud make my gig very uniqe.. good vid bri btw
You CAN'T TAKE NO FOR AN ANSWER! I remember when I first started doing them, I'd get the bride involved early on. You know, let her know we were going to do a cool activaty and that I needed her to help me get people on the floor.
Great explanation Brian! It seems like you tend to do it during the first half of the night. Before the dollar dance, gater toss ect? Thanks For another great video!
Yeah I do it early on (within the first hour, usually about 20 minutes to 1/2 hour into the party). I usually do it when people seem to be unmodivated by me just playing a variety of music. It's a great way to kick-start the night!
I really like the mixer but they don't really do it here in New York. Most people in NY are like "what the hell is this square dancing"? I like it though. It definitly works. Any other ways to get people dancing? I can't always do this in New York.
I bet you could do it in NY. Remember, if you have a group of self-starters who are going to dance anyway, you usually don't need a mixer. This is something you do when people are not just getting up and dancing on thier own.
Yeah I try the mixer when very few people are dancing. Sometimes its extremly challenging. Your absolutly right about how getting the guys on the dance floor is the hardest part. It's like they would rather have a root canal through their ass then dance.

I used your mixer, Bri, with the Austin Powers Theme as my Theme song. It went great.

Oh WAY cool! What's the name of that song? Is it a Quincy Jones track?

Where do you live by the way? I'm curious as to where in the world people are trying this and it's working sucsessfully

I live in North Florida. The Austin Powers song I found is from Mini Trio. Quincy Jones does the original. I am not sure who Mini Trio is.
