  • After extensive research, it was found that Union was officially declared 'boring' in 1896. Since when, The Guardian, Times, Telegraph etc etc have been conducting a hugely successful campaign to convince people otherwise.

Not my opinion homeboys, just the truth. :)

  • I can't respect union because it's shit though. I give it a chance and watch it, and it always disappoints me. I'd rather respect AIDS, no offence.

  • league is awsome union is awsome respect then both for what they are !!! great athletes in both ! your telling me prime rupeni caucau or rokoko wouldnt be a success in league ? or that sam tompkins or radlinski wouldNT be successful in union ? both would be ! For the forwards in union its a skill to scrumage, ruck and maul well it shouldnt be disrespected.

  • How far did Radlinski slide in that tackle right at the start....lol

  • Some league players move but only because union is better run and pays more. The general consensus amongst cross code players is that league is better.

Union has hardly got the cream of league in Ashton and hape. Hape was injury prone but a good solid league player whilst Ashton couldn't get a game as Wigan had better kids.

  • @nicknj80 I disagree mate, league is nowhere near as successful around the world as Union has become, it's been a poorly managed sport in terms of development aswell

  • I am more of a Union man, but when League is played well it can be absolutely fantastic!

  • Sheer class.

  • League is shit to watch all u see is idiots running in to each other union is faster and therefore more entertaining

  • @georgebush0 are you serious? peope quit rugby league and move to union coz it's too fast for them. i love union dont get me wrong but you have to be retarded to think union is faster

  • League is far more entertaining than union

  • Did Robinson play Rugby League??

  • @1993danrugby1993 Yeah but then he realised Union was better and converted, same with Chris Ashton, even Shontayne Hape...although I personally don't think much of him tbh.

  • @BobbySaysSo haha that's true Union is better than League

  • well all we have to say is what happened when there was a cross code game? Wigan shit all over the union team.

  • I was there then, and hope to see another Wigan win this time!

  • one thing id think rugby league would benefit from is tackling lower alot of easy yards are gained by players tackling high, am all for a big hits but most of the time the attacker makes 5-15 yards before hes finally brought to the ground.

  • best winger of all time

  • Leagues such a basic game lol run, tackle, wriggle on the ground. Repeat this till the 5th tackle where a kick will occur. The opposite team then repeats this system and a some point a try will result. Although I like League it's pretty shit in retrospect.

  • @taweraster why are you even watching a Rugby League video if you hate Rugby League so much :S

  • @taweraster Get your facts straight first, rugby league scrums are contested and always have been. In rugby league they don't like to waste time with the "crouch, touch, pause, engage".. scrum collapses do it all over again rubbish. Rugby League is about keeping the ball in play. Not many players could make the switch from RU to RL these days but an RL convert Chirs Ashton is leading try scorer in the Guinness Premiership.... and he wasn't even that good at rugby league.

  • @wiganwar tbh as a Saints fan I thought he looked a real talent, having seen the back of Radlinski, I was worried you'd found a replacement, I think he was good at league, but you would have seen more of him

  • @wiganwar I challeng u 2 find a singl scrum in rugby league that sum1 got a tythead??!! becos scrums r a wast of tym in league they shud just do a tap nd go

  • @wiganwar league is soo boring though

  • @kingnichendrix Union is the boring sport its so slow paced always kicking.... "ruck" oh yea lets make 1.5 yards thats fun

  • @ellisleach1992 Oh yeah league run, drop ball reset run drop ball reset. Theres a lot of thought that goes in that :/

  • @wiganwar I think you'll find you're talking complete toilet on the point of scrums being contested in RL - they're a pointless joke. The rule book might state they're contested, but I don't think I've ever seen any team put any effort into contesting them. They're used simply as a restart and the team with the put-in will almost always win the ball - there is hardly any chance to push. Fact.

  • @stroketheboat Hang on, you're complaining that teams don't often win against the head in League and that they're a restart? Well what are they in Union then if not simply a restart? I watched all the autumn internationals this year and saw 1 team win the ball against the head but over 80 minutes of time spent resetting scrums (the Ireland Argentina had over 10 minutes of scrum time alone) - not exactly a great display for this contest.

  • @crash669 You clearly have no idea what you're talking about - the whole point of the scrum wasn't to be a spectator spectacle - it was designed to be a bringing together of different size and shapes of men to contest for a ball. I don't disagree that scrums take up a lot of time, but for the players contesting in them, they're still a vital part of the game. Clearly you've never played Union, or you wouldn't even be having this debate - until you do play it, perhaps you can reserve judgement

  • @crash669 watch "australia v new zealand hong kong" or "australia v south africa bloemfontine"

    Now that's real rugby.

  • @wiganwar Well said. Keep away from the rusty bread knifes though.

  • @wiganwar yeah you could say that but then andy farrel was amazing at league moved to union and was shit, it's just that ashton is better suited to union and farrel was better suited to league. and for your argument about league scrums being contested, please tell me thats a joke, they may technically be contested but no teams actually try to challange for the ball

  • @wiganwar i am a union over league fan mainly as ive never played league, but i really enjoy watching it!

but to say the scrums are contested is a bit of a stretch, they go down the ball is pretty much fed to the back and then they get on with it! not starting a union v league slagging match, just what i have seen from super league.

i agree that the scrums at the moment are bloody annoying but when the ball is fed in the middle, which is rare nowadays, the scrums are a lot more contested!!

  • @wiganwar and you would swear that there are tons of rugby league guys that actually made it in union... legue is shit

  • @wiganwar Agreed they are contested but it's basically fed through the legs of the loose forward , very difficult to get turned over.

  • @wiganwar fact is, it is primarily thought that rugby league is easier the rugby union, there are no rucks, less mauls and players like Ashton take a step up,not down. However,as far as your point goes at scrums, rugby union are about as contested nowadays, just watch how "straight" the union scrums go. Also Ashton was a very good league player, as was Robinson so he took his game to the next level, why go backwards?

  • Rugby league and union started out with the same rules and then each evolved in it's own way, I enjoy watching both sports, but they are so very different now that comparing them is silly. Enjoy the one you like or both for what they are, not for what the other isn't.

  • @taweraster at least league players don't kick for goal everytime a penalty is given and more tries are scored (and tries that involve skill and speed rather than a 20 man pileup on the try line)

  • @WxmRobbo It's still a stupid and idiotic sport, you can tell exactly what the players are going to do in league, gain possession, get tackled, flop like a fish on the ground, stand up, play the ball, repeat four times, then kick for territory, there's more kicking involved in that pathetic sport that there is in union, Union is the best Rugby code, you're continually contesting for the ball, there are no pathetic scrums that don't amount to a pile of shit and it's more flowing.

  • Comment removed

  • league is well well well better then union

  • @gunnerlongie Bullshit, league is a pathetic game that was dumbed-down for all of the idiots in the World, you have pathetic scrums, no lineouts and you can't contest for the ball, one word for that sham of a sport, PATHETIC.

  • @taweraster theres no trys in union all it is...is penalty kicks? boringgggg, no flow to the game its i kick to u ...u kick to me....BULLSHIT!

  • @gunnerlongie I'd say that's more of a league thing, run, get hit, play ball, repeat four time, kick, that's basically league summed up.

  • @gunnerlongie Union gets massive TV and media coverage; Rugby League is only covered when there's nothing else happening, and sometimes not even then. Rugby league is a game where all the players do the same thing. They take the ball up, on the tackle, they put the ball through their legs and start again, there are no line-outs or mauls. Rugby league players, if put together in a police line-up, would all look the same physical design.

    Rugby Union superiority confirmed.

  • @taweraster line outs and mauls? thats what stops the flow of the game.....union has no flow! boring , full of rich twats....league is home bread britrish lads...who put 100%...its shitty games like football thats full of fights ...deaths...diving.. which gets the public views!

  • @gunnerlongie so if your rich your not home bread british ? league choose its own path so did union different games only thing thats the same is the ball.

  • @taweraster I have to agree. Union does get massive TV and media coverage, even the commentators admitted that once. But if you want Entertainment, Rugby League is the one to watch. All union is, big prop the size of sumo wrestler going into a tackle and being on the floor for 5 minutes! its just boring, its like watching paint dry! If you played one game of rugby league, your body would be more battered and bruised than a union game.

  • @taweraster Also, rugby league is a mans game! Gareth Thomas converted to league and his first game, he said after the game he said he has never been so battred and bruised before! Also, when do u ever see a winger scoring a try in Union? hardly ever now. In league, it happens week in and week out. And dont forget, the 1995 lions team was filled with Rugby League players!! Christ, the backroom staff used to be rugby league players as well! and league turned pro before union. Dont forget that.

  • Him and Offiah was unstoppable, Amos Roberts our new Jason Roberts? there will never be another Martin Offiah. sheer class

  • he was wigans finest

  • Hunslet Parkside product.

  • calum wanna pie?

  • One of Wigan's finest

  • @no1wiganrlfan he looks like a cunt to get hold of
