  • Aaaaah I never knew there was a video for this song wow :)

  • Magic!

  • Oh wow! I didn't know there was a vid for this song! Excellent.

  • A lovely, bittersweet song about getting older, escape and drifting away from friends. Kirsty's dexterity as a songerwriter makes me want to try harder as a children's and YA writer.

  • This song has always been one of my top favorites from Kirsty. Sad, melancholic lyrics set back to an upbeat rhythm and melody. Kirsty was a genius.

  • At 0:43 is that reporter Keith Levene?

  • ahhhhh, memories.... :' }

  • Nice one!

  • RIP, Kirsty, we still love and miss you!

    Justice for Kirsty!

  • Scenes of the house and garden beseiged by reporters were shot in Hanwell, July 1985.

  • The Lemonheads done a great version of this song as a b-side on the 1994 single Big Gay Heart, well worth checking out.

  • great song. cant stop listening.

  • haydenallie, you are indeed correct, that is in fact P-town beach! big up the p-town massive... or something like that!

  • I'm assuming at 1.08 its Brighton's West Pier. Can anyone confirm? At a guess I reckon this video was shot in around 1987 is that right?

  • @Edward1312 I think this was either 1985 or 1986, she was pregnant with her 2nd son when she did this and he was born in 1986, so it could be late 1985 or 86. xxxx

  • @Edward1312 1985 in Brighton

  • 2000 would have been a much better year. And christmas would have been so much brighter. If I could think laugh and dance, ideally all three at the same time. With Kirsty to believe in.

  • Great song from a fantastic singer. The beach shots in Australia look like they were filmed in Porthtowan Cornwall has anyone else noticed this ?

  • I saw one song with her 20 minutes ago (Fairytale of New York, together with The Pogues), then i searched her on WikiPedia, i saw she died 2000 and i have readen how.

i don´t know why - there only were 5 minutes, between i first saw something of her and i knew she is dead - but i am near to cry. i really don´t know why.

    so crazy!!!

  • @spammiuu I know exactly what you mean. Kirsty had that effect on people. She was a rare soul who seemed like an old friend from the first time you saw her. No diva or huge presence, but approachable and sincere.

Then there is the tragic & senseless nature of her death. A brave testament that without a thought or hesitation, this mother gave her life to protect her sons. And we are left her memory, her music, and the empty question with no answer: Why?

  • @spammiuu I sometimes cry thinking about Kirsty also, especially when I listen to this song or "Fairytale" or "A New England." It's just so tragic to have lost her.

  • you where an absolute sweet heart kirsty. :)

  • i agree

  • There's a 12" maxi single of this song that is the absolute NAZZ.... find it...

  • I actually migrated to Australia because of this song

  • That's daring ... an up-tempo holiday-like song about some guy being depressed and hopelessly melancholic.

  • i believe you just stumbled over the beauty of pop music hombre

  • Evocative song of wistful lost teenage relationships.

But now Kirsty's gone, even the big pier in the background at 1:08 has gone. But the music remains!

  • Brilliant! Thank you!

  • Magnificent.

  • ¡Me encanta esta canción!
