You know what should have been in the movie? The whole FIGHT in the book!!!! yeah, thats right, that was in the book... The deatheaters vs the order and hogwards. The rest? great movie =)
3:19!!! I loved it sooo much in the book when Dumbledore says "I'm not worried Harry, I'm with you." It was such a sweet moment where we see that even at Dumbledore's weakest moment, he has upmost trust and faith in Harry. I can't believe they cut it out!!!!
The singing scene is so perfect for the movie. So chilly, creepy, haunting, the storm is coming getting darker like the movies and story. And they cut it out. Siriusly?!?!?
That storm was the sign of danger. McGonagall was trying to get everybody back to their houses and Snape was just standing there and Draco went to the vanishing cabinet.
The movie would have more sense, if they'll put these scenes in, especially the ones Harry complaining about Draco, because in the books, Harry was kinda obsessed by finding out what malfoy is planning, and it isn't showed like this in the movie.
And please, the choir scene is probably the most beautiful but in a creepy way scene that all the movies ever had.
Oh my goodness, when Ron smiles at the end, I can totally see the little boy from Harry Potter 1 and 2!!! I feel a weird sort of homesickness now that HP is over. :/
I love the music and the scenes with the choir, but i agree about forshadowing of snape. But it also should have been in the movie because it sort of is a important scene with the last two movies.
The choir gives me chills...it should be in a hooro film pretty creepy!! Does nayone else noticed when draco was in the Room of Requirements just beofre quiditch tryouts the music was from the beginning of snape's memory and when Harry is crying over Dumbledore it's the end of the memory about how harry has to die ans sanpe his holding lilly!! cry cry cry!
@VideoGameWalk nobody knew for sure his true loyalties, but the vast majority of fans were able to it out. There was plenty of foreshadowing that was in the books but not in the movie. I thinks that's why everyone wanted the scene included.
@AgentTurner they wanted to give people a reason to watch their movie when , considering how old it is, many people already own and can turn on their dvd players without commercial.
I got goosebumps when the quire was singing and it was like...epic. Haha y didn't they keep that?!? It added a whole new level of intense to it..... Haha
In the end, Harry asks Hermione to keep the snogging to the minimum with Ron??? That means the director wanted them to start their relationship in the 6th? With no big kiss scene? I don't get it.
@VideoGameWalk I agree I liked not knowing and eventhough I knew what was going to happen from the books , the scene in the movie was still a shocker because you didn't know when it was coming. So sad
The choir scene with Snape gives me the chills. It's so moving and deep, I wish they had kept that! Although, yes, I can see that maybe it would have given away the fact that Snape was Dumbledore's ally rather than Voldemort's...Still, it's so haunting and beautiful I'm sorry it was left out. Alan Rickman's such a great actor, what a presence he has, just by standing there before the window...
@VideoGameWalk I agree with you, till this movie...everyone thought Snape was a spy for Voldemort, esp with the first scene of this movie, where he makes the unbreakable vow! If they had put the scene it would have shown that Snape has emotion for what he is about to do, something we dont find out till later! It would have thrown the entire movie and the books off by just one scene, Im glad they didnt put it in! But nonetheless beautifully shot and choreographed!
why did they cut these scenes? i mean, who cares if the movie is 3 hours long, lord of the rings is 4 hours ling in the extended version and 3 in the cinema version. wtf, wh? these scenes would've explained the whole story a bit more. whyyyyy dudes, why?
It's kinda shame that these good scenes were deleted... Same goes for other HP movies, especially the laste four, directed by Yates; many scenes with atmosphere of the book were deleted... Though they're very good!
That scene with Snape really should have been in the movie IMO. It would have really foreshadowed Snape's involvement in the next two films. Plus the music really accentuates the scene and reminds me of the introduction of the last film. It seems like such a fitting scene before Dumbledore's death.
@ICOD73 They don't cut scenes for running time!!! They never have, and they never will. They cut them for pacing reasons, or because the scenes simply aren't that good, or don't work in context of the movie.
Almost all of these scenes are pure exposition and tell us what we already know, or they ground down the pacing of climaxes.
@YoungIvyScholar The singing was left out for pacing reasons. It just grinded the climax down to a halt. And it also lingered way way too long on Snape and gave away the ending. And it repeats the looking up into the sky one too many times, so that it becomes hokey rather than poignant. A shortened version of it is actually in the film, and the shortened version works better.
Honestly, I feel like the choir scene does even more justice to Snape than the Prince's Tale because it shows, yes, it really upset him to kill Dumbledore and he really does have feelings for other people besides Lily!!! And of course, the lyrics just work: "the ones I love I never forget."
@clamzcoolio The saddest thing I feel about Shape's character is that no one during his life ever knew the hero he truly was. How he fought alone, among his enimies, for years upon years. The situations he had to let go of and the people he had to let die so V would trust him. I watched the last one yesterday again and that woman who says, "we're friends" before V kills her hurts him so badly but there was nothing he could do to save her. I wonder if that's why V picked her to die?
I really wish they'd filmed the battle sequence at the end of this film... I suppose it left DH Part 2 to take all the glory. This film didn't feel enough for me.
@BleakDisc This film was meant to be the prelude if you will to the final 2 films and also remember we get the awesome fight in order of the phoenix I like this film because it goes back the roots of the magic of the story
If you pause at the snape deleted scene where he is looking at the sky you can tell he doesn't want to kill dumblore no wonder why they deleted it! :( Poor Snape!
I never really understood why Hogwarts has a choir in the movies... They don't teach math or literature, oh no, but they have a choir! Loved the song, though.
the snape scene, oh, my, god, i don't know how to react! yet again he's left me speechless. seems so sad to have to kill the figure, the only one who understood him (kinda) to rid himself of the last person he can ever trust completely :( it is sad :( waaa lol
Aww why did they have to delete the part where Dumbledore said "i'm not worried, i'm with you"?? That was one of the sweetest lines. and also the part the part with the choir singing and Snape looking out the window was perfect! :/
Why do they have to delete scenes?? Why??? Everything should have made it to the films!! I'm sure people who have read the books wouldn't mind even if the film was 4 hours long! And the people who haven't read the books would understand it better.
Also, the end scene, it makes it look like Ron and Hermione are already a couple. So I'm kind of glad they didn't put it in. There wasn't anything like that in the book.
@leahbaer11 it doesnt need to be exactly like the book, and also they WERE already together at the end of HBP it was just never explicitly stated, whether or not it was like it in the book is irrelevant, this isnt the book, this is the movie, they are different. Just Sayin.
That choir song was beautiful. They should have put in it the film. Also, the snape window scene with the tear. They definitely should have put that into the film.
it's kinda funny: in The Deadly Hallows part 2, Ron is actually referring to the deleted scene about the room of requirement not showing up on Marauders Map...
All these scenes are crucial that only people who read the books knew so I can't imagine the difficulty it took for people who just watched the movies to understand what was going on exactly.
Why the hell did they cut out the choir scene and everyone standing by the windows. It reminded me of the calm before the storm. Like death was aproaching
why dies wb ship harmony so much? it's like in the books, Harry & ginny are quite flirty, in the movies, awkward silence before a small peck on the lips. it's like wb want harry and hermione to be together instead :/
The one scene I think they should have kept was the scene in which the choir sings over the entire scene. That sounded beautiful, was shot and lit beautifully. Some of that footage remains in the film, and though it propels the story more quickly, but there's a deeper sense of foreboding in what they deleted, and it's just more eloquent and artistic....
Snape's scene! Are you fucking kidding me?! That would've looked amazing! At least for the people who have read the books! His expression, that scene was just perfect! Someone should get fired if it's not too late :3
I was hoping they'd atleast have included Dumbledore's funeral in the deleted scenes in this film :/ It could have easily been the most memorable scene in the entire series and would have finished this film beautifully. Shame...
they should have included the scene with snape.besides i like the character of snape.i really felt sorry for him especially in the last movie.after so many years of potter's death and he's still loves lily potter. i was really moved when harry saw snape's memories!!
"Sing a song, a song of life, lived without regret." Those lyrics, with Snape's face...heartbreaking...just heartbreaking. This should have been in the movie. You could argue that there's too much foreshadowing going on, lets be honest, the entire audience knew what was going to happen. Everybody knew, at that point, why Snape killed Dumbledore, and what his true motives were. This was arguably.the most beautiful HP scene ever filmed, and it wasn't even in the movie.
They should've kept that last scene with Harry looking back at Ron. I've read the books and their relationship seems way closer than how they portray it in the movies. That last scene really showed their brotherly love.
It makes no sense to delete scenes such as these from films. They are already filmed, all special effects are done and they're almost always true to the books.
It's probably the publishers' (or whatever you call them) doing.
I think the reason they took out the Snape scene was because it was too much foreshadowing. I mean, it was enough foreshadowing with the thunder and the clouds and everyone looking up to the sky.. and they probably didn't want to spoil it for those who didn't read the book by throwing Snape in there. I think they wanted to make Snape look like the bad guy until DH part 2. It WAS a beautiful scene, though.
@crowofdebt Hermione and Ron know that Harry is going to the Cave with Dumbledore (or they don't know about the Cave but they know he's going on a mission with Dumbledore) So she is saying that it is time for Harry to go to Dumbledore's office so they can leave for the cave.
@faithfullypretending but professor isnt the one with white beard n hat n all who teaches the wingardium leviosa in part 1..that proffessor looks totally different than this
can't believe they deleted the scenes that actually explain something about the plot..

Why the hell did they cut out the choir scene and everyone standing by the windows. It reminded me of the calm before the storm. Like death was aproaching

It seemed strange that they were referring to Malfoy as Draco. I know it's his name but still it's strange.

why dies wb ship harmony so much? it's like in the books, Harry & ginny are quite flirty, in the movies, awkward silence before a small peck on the lips. it's like wb want harry and hermione to be together instead :/

Is it just me, or was Dan/Harry's voice deeper in these scenes?.. maybe it just just the sound of the video?

I like the last scene here better than the one they ended up using. I think it showed their friendship better whereas the other one was just awkward.

Shame...

I feel like the choir scene was the last thing cut because of the song being played over the entire clip.

If Montague has been stuffed into the vanishing cabinet in the fifth film,Harry might have known what Malfoy's up to

they should have included the scene with snape.besides i like the character of snape.i really felt sorry for him especially in the last movie.after so many years of potter's death and he's still loves lily potter. i was really moved when harry saw snape's memories!!

It's probably the publishers' (or whatever you call them) doing.
peterfaj 7 months ago 3
I think the reason they took out the Snape scene was because it was too much foreshadowing. I mean, it was enough foreshadowing with the thunder and the clouds and everyone looking up to the sky.. and they probably didn't want to spoil it for those who didn't read the book by throwing Snape in there. I think they wanted to make Snape look like the bad guy until DH part 2. It WAS a beautiful scene, though.

Snape steals every scene every.single.time.

What does Hermoine mean when she says "It's time Harry" from 1:26 to 1:38.

@crowofdebt for harry and dumbledore's mission
starsfan12345 7 months ago
@crowofdebt Hermione and Ron know that Harry is going to the Cave with Dumbledore (or they don't know about the Cave but they know he's going on a mission with Dumbledore) So she is saying that it is time for Harry to go to Dumbledore's office so they can leave for the cave.
