im using kno3, powdered sugar and iron oxide in Rcandy form and still not getting much thrust. do i need real sugar vs powdered sugar? instead of water and corn syrup can i use just pepsi? =D
you must cook the kno3, put some water with kno3, sugar and iron oxide and you will get rcandy, its a lot more powerfull that the uncooked combination used in the video
needs a hole down the middle, it burnt too long, with a hole, it will burn so quick, that the pressure is alot more. should burn no more than 2 seconds. prob 1 second at that small size
i wasted loads of pvc making them without holes. i started to make them longer thinking that it would burn better. but ended up with 30 second burn time, and a hell of a lot of smoke.
10cm long, with 2cm bentinite powder plugs, with a hole 7/10ths of the way down, should burn just fine.
Hi, I'm interested in KNO3/Sugar propellant too, and I'd like to know where you found your Iron oxyde, because I'm not sure that I'll find a lot on a piece of oxyded Iron :/ and for deadlyshadow1965, do you know a way to decrease the heat creation in the booster ? (sorry for my very bad English :P )
For your fuel mix use 65g kno3 and 35g sugar. This is the standard mix for basic fuel. Also thrust is related to throat size(size of the hole through the fuel) and choke size(size of hole in the nozzle) generally the thorat size is slightly bigger than the nozzle size. Other factors play a role in thrust but those are the basics. Also aluminum is a bad idea :) use steel as it will actually withstand the heat!
looked like petrol bomb with kno3 ignitor :D

hi, I took my iron oxide from a piece of oxyded iron and it worked very well.
thank you for watch my videos

Basicly you took it from rust? or did you put a steel nail in salt walter?
liambowers666 2 years ago
i took it from rust, rust is nothing more than oxidised (tks gevar) iron, and i seems to work.
Pedrorcoelho 2 years ago
i must say its called "oxidised", sorry a compulsion

2 things, 1. You should use less sugar, the kind of thrust you were getting here isnt enough to launch a real build to fly rocket.
2. The motor catches fire at the end because it overheats. KNO3+Sugar can create huge ammounts of heat.
