I remember watching the Irish Rovers on t.v. with my parents and they would always sing this song at the end of the show. It was a nice, entertaining show that the whole family could watch and it brings back great memories for me.
My mom and dad use to play this for me and my sister when we were little, and we'd all sing together, loud and proud! It's good 'ol fashioned folk music, soothes the soul.
@JacobSly1 sorry to hear that you never had a chance to experience the 60's it was a different world that we lived in. and yes we had a lot of songs that were a bit silly but we also had some wonderful music come from that magical era
I loved this song and still do, and when my 13 year old grandson heard it this summer over my XM he would play it over and over until he knew the words, We lost him this past Oct so now every time i hear it i Cry... thank-you for your time
This song does not "suck"! You need to understand that it was performed in a gentler, kinder era! Not the idiotic world we live in today! And for those of you too young to remember -- you missed something special! May God have mercy on the soul of America!
@jolmsteadrn well... it didn't really start out as a song. it was orriginally written by shel silverstein in his book "where the sidewalk ends." It is written on pages, 76 and 77.
When I was little my grandpa used to always the play the rovers for me, the unicorn and puff the magic dragon, and biplane evermore were always my favorite songs. And i'm sure i'm not the only one!
hearing this again took me back to when I was very young and my mother would play her Irish Rovers record on her huge music counsel. Hearing it just brings back so many wonderful memories. By the way, I am only 32 years old, but to me it is a classic forever burned into my memory.
Oh my. I stumbled upon this video tonight. Bring backs many memories of this song. I thought I saw a unicorn when I was younger, but this solidifies the fact that it was just my imagination. Too bad Noah wasn't a roper....
True story: My Great Uncle died, and after his wake wich is what some people do after the funeral, you see my uncle was Irish and after the wake this song came on, on the radio! My dads like "Perfect, an Irish song after an Irish funeral!" Thats when I first heard this song! Now its my fav. song. XD
@PurpleTurtlefish24 Mine to! Theres a pub in Ireland, Corkerys Pub, named after my ancestors! My brother studied a broad in Ireland, and my dad went there! I was going to go with my brother next year, but he said im not old enogh because all you can do in Ireland is go to bars. XDDD
I came upon this song and my lost childhood came rushing back to me. Thank you Irish Rovers for singing this wonderful song that my Father loved so much when he was alive!
