I wonder if he has bothered to read the bible in which the majority of founding fathers of religion had multi wives and concubines? Marriage is defined by the culture in which it exists not by some desert death dogmas.
I find it interesting as well as disturbing that the moment the topic of same-sex marriage, of recognizing gays as equal citizens deserving the same rights and protection as others--religious groups and conservatives immmediately reference polygamy, beastiality, and worse. The threat here is not to the institution of marriage, but the long-held idea that gays are less than fully human and legitimate citizens of the United States of America.
Homosexuals do deserve, and in fact, already have the same rights as me (straight married guy). Homosexual activists are not seeking the same rights, as you claim. They are seeking special, additional rights. Face it, I don't have the right to "marry" another man. Homosexuals are seeking additional rights, more rights than others.
I haven't the right to marry another man, either. That's just it--gays are seeking the right for one consenting, mature adult to legally commit through matrimony to another mature consenting adult to whom they wish to dedicate themselves. That is neither a special or additonal right. At present, Heterosexuals can do so, homosexuals cannot.
