  • I can't believe they didn't get it!!

And I don't like Jack Carter either. "Rockette to the moon" indeed!

  • No subtlety whatsoever, but Jack Carter must have got laid like crazy.

  • Jack is so awkward, glad he wasn't around for long. Thanks for sharing! What a charming guest :)

  • I think Jack is just fine. Love this show!

  • My goodness, I can't believe they missed this! As for Jack, yes, he wasn't as "sophisticated" in his humor as Steve Allen or Fred Allen, but he did come from burlesque, where the humor is bawdier, and was an early TV star. If I remember correction, his show came on before "Your Show of Shows" in the early 1950's.

  • A lot of the guest panelists were like fish out of water; not just Jack Carter.

  • let's not put jack carter in hal block's company. some say that the character played by billy crystal in mr. saturday night was a hybrid of red buttons and jack carter. nothing wrong with jack's act.

  • I agree. For sure, Carter is a rough-hewn bloke, but unlike Block he's not a desperate, clinging slob.

Thanks very much for the post.

  • I just plain do not like the guest panelist on this one. He was a fish out of water with our beloved John, Arlene, Bennett, and Dorothy.

  • Jack Carter reminded me of Hal Block. Who by this time (September 5, 1954) was gone from the show. Didn't fit in, I'd agree.
