@radicalteh if the garlic were chopped finely yes it would help get the flavours accross more but once it came to cooking time if you have small bits of garlic everywhere they burn and give an unpleasant charred sticky tar taste although garlic lightly browned gets a nice nutty flavour if done with good butter

@aptsys This is Americanized "Shish Kebab." It's common to see thin sliced meat on wooden skewers like this. Best kebabs I had was in Central Asian countries where the method was around for centuries.
