  • This ballad always makes me go cold as it's very dark.Do remember John Webb playing the saxophone on this,

  • thanks gary, beautiful, i have memories that break my heart every day

  • RUBBISH!!!

  • Is it a syrup?

  • Got to agree with diesonneuk Gary wrote some great ballads in the mid 80's and this one is up there with the best of them. Such a change from PP and Replica's but I think even better tracks.

Pure genius of a song. and a magical sax solo.

  • He looks like Frank Sinatra

  • @thumbs317 I thought I was the only one to have noticed! I passed a picture framers recently where they had a large poster of a young Sinatra. The resemblance to Numan was uncanny!

  • the cool lookin mr Gary Numan top man of synths

  • whos the sax player on this track

  • @avpinstarter I think it's Gary's brother John Webb.

  • This was when i ended my Numanoid days.

    Utter tripe.

    Shame really

    Hes a really nice person.

  • @DAVEGARDENER40 you should have hung in there he made some great songs youve missed out on.

  • he reminds me of the 90's Frank Sinatra in this clip - like a turtle with a comb-over. unbelievable he's only in his mid 20's then

  • @escaton74 well he WAS 28... but still, looks closer to 38, yeah.

  • Great song! Then the saxophone enters and ruins everything!!!

  • is it me or is gary trying to be kraftwerk/frank sinatra? great upload though and a very nice tune!

  • Hmmm, after the machine period you really have to cherry pick the good songs. I'd say from 8 albums you will get 5 good songs. The machine period has 4 albums and 40 good songs :p

  • isn't that his Bro playing the Sax. This was always a good one live somewhat suprisingly.

  • Used to watch this on the video jukebox a the Pier disco in Dunoon. Had lost touch with Numan for a while and hadn't realized he was still doing stuff.......

Not exactly Metal but pretty good stuff

  • Still Great to Watch!

Most of them dont know this vid Exists!

    .66.

  • wow dosent gary look really cool waeing that suit and dicky-bow kinda looks like james bond. also isnt that his then girlfriend on keyboards.

  • yer she was a vicars daughter aswell i think .

  • R.I.P Paul Gardiner...

  • Thanks Coxy for this cool song

  • Great

    Coxynuma.66.

  • Bless

All this mid period stuff get's slated but there are some some decent songs in there

And Numan write some great ballads, this is up there with Heart.

  • Was that Pino Paladino on bass? Remindes me of Dance

  • Love it.

  • Love it.

  • yeah hes quality.. im goin to see him in march aswell :) looking forward to it!!!

  • nobody can do the snark/smile like Gary (going to see him live in March:)

  • It's so wonderful. I love Gary!!!

  • Wonderful!

    Glad to see this posted.

  • everyones a critic!!

  • LOL

  • What a masterpiece. Gary is the only new wave artist that can make me cry like a baby. He's the master of "sound". As far as the future...I wish he'd drop some of the "noise" and replace it with "sound". No one can be "beautiful" like Gary.

  • gotta be one of his best ballads, love it. This video is a slightly different version to the one on Shadowman, industrial dunno where your getting this stuff but thanks!!

  • okay thanks...I thought it was the case. I got to thinking (always risky for me) is there a robot underneath her face? j/k. lol

  • Tracy Adams? What does she have to do with backing vocals and synthesizers?

  • Nothing...just something good to look at

  • who's the woman on the keyboards

  • Tracy Adams an ex girlfriend.

  • Who?! What?! Is that Tessa Niles on the keyboard?

    John Webb on sax? Wow...ok.

  • What a load of bilge. Great to see Jonny "The Mime Act" Webb *cough* miming to Dick Morriseys sax. This Is Love was described by Radio 1 as the most depressing song they'd ever played. I agree.

  • take that "old blue eyes"

  • Very overlooked song by Gary. He looked fresh & cool too, cant believe that was so many years after his original AFE appearance on TOTP, he virtually looked no different.

  • great stuff, thanks...

  • Great song...that's got to be one of the most amazing sax solos I've EVER heard. This Is Love and My Breathing are the only 2 tracks I liked on the Strange Charm album.

  • excellent song

  • such a beautiful song....
