  • stories don't have heart like this anymore....

  • i absolutely love this movie!! they should've used james earl jones' voice for God though. that would've been EPIC!!!

  • @dashpony1048 LOL I was just thinking the same thing!

  • HAPPY ,SAD, EMOTIONAL,TOUCHING,AMUSING,FUNNY,GREAT movie

  • i hate when people talk about disney when they watch dreamworks movies , they just don't know the difference .

  • WOW.

  • @RosyJuneDoll Some of the early 2000's animation was good as well. Look at Samurai Jack and the original Clone Wars animated series

  • I think 3d animation should be used for things like moving scenarios, and objects and things with no personality and special effects, but for animating characters its much better 2d drawing animation

  • this movie always makes me wanna cry, its SO beautiful!!!

  • I wish Dreamworks would do more films like this. Imagine of they did David.

  • @kittiekat10105 =o that would be amazing!

  • Maybe Dreamworks should go for traditional animation again

  • @1heartless1 I agree with you

  • i wish i was an actor, not for the money but the chance to actually be someone else, to ACT as someone else, to bring a character to life, THAT is a career worth thinking about, isnt it? this is the experience i hope i get the chance to have. :)

  • my sister and i loved this movie when we were kids, we loved it so much we used to act out the plaque scene she was moses i was ramses XD

  • I wish I could thank every person face-to-face who worked on this movie. They don't know how much they inspire me with their film making and storytelling work.

  • the animated version of The ten commamdments (prince of egypt) has always been better in terms of the parting of the red sea, than the Charlton Heston version.

  • @TRACEYK95 i'm inclined to agree, however Cecil B. DeMille's version of TTC was, in itself, a remarkable achievement for its time. Sound stages were still relatively new &, from the top of my head, the parting of the Red Sea was one of the first cinematic scenes to be done 'digitally'. The Charlton Heston version is one of my family's favourites, i remember watching it as a kid on a Friday night. Both versions of the story are incredible & truly deserving of their acclaim.

  • @hectorssister

yeah that is true, it was a good movie for its time thats true.

  • Beautiful... I get chills all the time.... <3

  • Wow, I had no idea how much 3D work went into this movie....

  • You know, it's really sad how most animators nowadays don't go to this level of detail anymore. When I saw this movie just about an hour ago and I saw the Red Sea scene, I was greatly impressed. And this came out 13 years ago.

  • i remember when me and my brother were younger and would decide we wanted to watch a movie that night, arrange all out tapes upside down on the floor and randomly choose what to watch and this movie always popped up :) watching this i feel so nostalgic <3

  • I used to have this movie when i was little but i don't know what happened to it though =..( but i'm glad youtube has it =)

  • @megaman90 glad I'm not the only one who feels this way :) and @Floralian I couldnt agree with you more!!!

  • Mariah and Whitney singing "There can be Miracles" really overshadows the original version in the film. it was always the most engaging in my opinion, and I was 7.

  • It is so disapointing that they created something so beautiful, but now Dreamworks movies are...ugh

  • @Muzikfreek4jzuz I know right. I'm still waiting for the next spiritual film to come out from somewhere.

  • It is so disapointing that they created something so beautiful, but now Dreamworks movies are...ugh

  • I will always love this movie.

  • The animation for the parting of the Red Sea made my jaw drop.

  • @winesti The whale is my favorite part.

  • I love how much they cared about the project they created. It was so well done.

  • Thanks for sharing this!

  • first fist pump ever 5:37

  • The work is indescribable and you definitely have created something magical and truly beautiful. You guys are incredible.

  • This movie is a masterpiece. Never again will they top the story of moses :)

  • this is aboslutely spectacular.

i just love this movie! and im glad i got to see the making of it.

  • There is no way they could have made a movie of this scale even ten years ago.

  • they brought back that classic 2d animation with the princess and the frog, hopefully they'll make more animated films to come that way cause i miss classic 2d animation like this

  • I agree with @bicarbonat as well. Somehow, I think a lot of (great) animated movies main songs were treated that way. In the end, you just prefer the song in the movie (much more powerful and in context)... and not the one sang in the credits. There are a few exceptions but very often, it's like that.

About the use of 3D and special effects in this movie... I'm just speechless. It's amazing and subtle at the same time... it blends wonderfully with the 2D.

  • i love it i give it 100 stars its a great movie i loved it cause it gave me faith and i think i should make others watch it to its like it engourages u to watch it again and again and i loved it it was a good movie

  • All my life, i have loved art...but have always been told that animation, cartooning, etc. was just second rate...But if you look back at this movie, and others before such as The Lion King, Aladdin, Hercules, etc...There is so much more to it. Watching this "Making of" video has made me cry, touched my heart...and has inspired me to go and presue art in a way that i want to presue...If i could, i would be an animator and work with one of these beautiful films...It brings my heart so much joy.

  • It was probably the most beautiful film of my childhood, and definitely my second favourite one! Thank you for uploading this, because seeing all the love that went into making it is really sweet XD

  • No shots of Sir Patrick doing voice work? Sad.

  • @RosyJuneDoll I agree. I miss it very very much. It makes me sad how animation is done now a days. It feels like no one puts any soul into it. :(

  • "The burning bush was described to me as... the pivotal moment of the movie, it's the first presentation through animation of the presence of God."

    No pressure, right?

  • cool

  • this made me appricate animation so much more than i did before. I see now that animation could do so much more than the eyes can see or even for some people to comprehand! Great job on the cast they all played there roles perfectly <3

  • i remember wathchin this movie all the time wen i was a kid, it is and will always B a favorite movie of mine!!!!! <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

  • Oh, my goodness! This movie is AMAZING and Dreamworks should make more of these. Thanks for uploading this!!!

  • im so happy with how much they embraced the story...and respected it! it really is a fantastic film!! =)

  • Wow..there's an actual instrumental for The Plagues soundtrack..without chorus....playing in this ..in the background...Why didn't they ever release that?? :(

  • 6:32 - 6:48 A concept that nowadays, everyone seems to have abandoned, you know? THIS was what animation was all about. If they put out more movies with actual heart in it like this one...

Prince of Egypt, I suppose, remains untouchable, even after so many years later. It never gets old. :)

  • @SpazAlert004 amen!

  • @SpazAlert004 yeah, the heart never gets old i guess :)

  • @SpazAlert004 I know. . . I find it strange every time I think of the fact that this movie was made in 1998; it just seems so ahead of its time.

  • I wish Dreamworks would do another movie like this. For every 10, 20, 30 silly animated movies that have very little moral value, they pull off a single work of art like this. I miss these kinds of movies.

  • Best movie ever. I can watch this movie over and over and it still touches my soul.

  • there's another biblical movie done in this style, what is that called?

  • Joseph: King of Dreams.

  • when did that come out,RokebyX?

    -1986Sheri

  • It was released in 2000. :3

  • god i just HATE how marriah carey and whitney houston sing "When you believe" DX

  • why?

  • because it's VERY commercial, they don't put any spirit into it at ALL, it's just like they're thinking "oh I wonder when I'll get my money for this" when they sing it..it's just bad, man, bad DX

  • never saw it that way :) good insight

  • thanks :)

  • @illurvenistasartir I hate it when the chorus join in. Because when they join in, I shudder.

  • @Tablo

is it a bad thing? xD if a singer doesn't give you any emotions then that singer isn't pretty good :/ at least from my point of view :/

  • @illurvenistasartir Haha, no it's not a bad thing. I love the singer. But it's kinda hard to describe, because of the "Rush" feeling... It's just too powerful.

  • @Tablo yeah , that's what i call a badass chorus =D after so much time , it still gives me that cold spine feeling

  • @illurvenistasartir agreed. lol feel like throwing shit at mariah for being so frakking fake.

  • @duffchick58

*thank* you , THANK YOU for being part of *this* gang XD mariah is a walking cliche >_>

  • @illurvenistasartir Maybe if they'd sung it straight...*maybe* it would've been decent...but Mariah Carey was just pouring melismatics all over the music...every time I listen to it, it sounds like MC and WH are having a "friendly" singing/let's-see-who-can-do-the-best-vocal-runs contest. & the song is the innocent bystander who just wanted to cross the street :/

  • @bicarbonat agreed , couldn't have used a better analogy myself! XD

  • @illurvenistasartir me 2. their voices are beautiful but it doesnt work with the feeling of the song

  • @illurvenistasartir I know, the original is sooo much better

  • @illurvenistasartir I agree, it sounds like they are competing against each other instead of trying to sing a good song by complimenting each other.

  • @illurvenistasartir they at least should have blended when they sang it together.

  • @a999op i don't think they could ever do that :/ they're too self-centered -_-

  • @illurvenistasartir yh houston's breathing and note holding just ruins it

  • @axil56 damn it, i never noticed that it was pretty awkward but thanks, now i will always see it when i watch this video xDDD

  • @illurvenistasartir your very welcome anytime

  • @illurvenistasartir I feel the same way. I never liked the "pop" versions of animated film songs. It just sucks the life out of it, butchers it =\

  • @CanisxLupus right, "butcher" ..that's the best word to describe it :}

  • @illurvenistasartir

try david archuleta's version. I think its as good if not better then whitney and marriah's. jus a thought......

  • @illurvenistasartir r u being sarcastic?

  • @NoirFilleChante depends on what comment you mean ,since i've commented a lot here , but from what I know, I've only stated my opinion in a truthful way :/

  • @illurvenistasartir Why whats wrong with that? D:

  • @illurvenistasartir IKR!!!! UGH!! they sound horrible, I honestly don't know how they won an award for that horrendous performance of theirs...I hate it when celebs try to put their own spin on songs like these and totally take away from the essence of the song...i love the original and wished that it would have remained untouched

  • @s3xiisir3n I think that they make it too pitchy and whinney (sp?). It's suppose to be soft not so harsh.

  • @illurvenistasartir hey they make millions of dollars doing what they do best, and that is singing. who cares how they sing it, they pull it off BIG TIME, and sound fabulous.

  • @only1ineed making million off of music doesn't necessarily mean you're good. these two are good, i wasn't questioning that .i was just saying that they are self-centered and sound like they're trying to "steal" each others' spotlight, instead of singing this with the spirit and emotions that are intended for it.

  • @illurvenistasartir what?! looooseeeer

  • i love this movie! thanks for this video

  • I REALLY wish they would have the movie and soundtrack back in stores ;_; I would buy it in a heartbeat

  • itunes

  • i don't think they have the soundtrack or movie. But no worries i got the soundtrack from a friend, but I still want the movie XP

  • Get it on Amazon. They'll ship right to your door, so you don't even HAVE to go to the store.

  • ..the best animated movie ever!!!! :-)

great story and great people behind the movie...

    great characters,,great animations!........

    G R E A T !!!!!

    i love prince of egypt!...

  • I simply loved this movie and I still do!! thank you for uploading this!

  • 10 years later and it's still one of my favorite animated movie's!

  • It was the best animated biblical movie of 1998, and I loved it. Bye.

  • wow just beautiful. i loveeeeee this movie so much its so beautiful and touching, these people did such a great job.

another biblical/torah story would be awesome!!!! someone listen to us! :D

i did watch the joseph one, it was nice.

  • WOOOOOW!!!!

    GREAT .... SPEECHLESS

  • I know, right? They could still make it in the future, though, so let's cross our fingers.

  • Deeep. I love this movie.

  • I saw that movie in a theater when I was little.

  • Nice!

  • Loved this movie. Dreamworks did a splendid job. Great blend of traditional and CG animation and the soundtrack is amazing. Disney used to make quality films like this, but not anymore.

  • Thank you for that. It was informative and interresting.

  • Asweome! DId you know that Jeffrey Katzenburg pitched this idea to Disney several times, but that they turned it down?

I'm glad they didn't accept it, because they would've made the story very lighthearted, and not have brought this story justice, like Dreamworks did.

  • What does rendering mean?

  • God, I love this movie. One of the best animations that has ever been created. Simply spectacular and profoundly beautiful.

  • I wish they could make the story of abraham (and so on) in the same way as this one...

(I didn't like the Josef versjon..)

  • They were gonna make a Noah one, but they decide against it. :/ Darn it.

  • I Luv this movie

  • oh wow this was so great! was it on a dvd extra or something? if it is, i'm totally gonna get it.

  • i'm going to be doing this stuff someday. <3

my name's nicole ainsworth, remember it. (:

  • Then u got a remember the name ur competitor.....or an equal optimist!!!!...Pramod A.J!!!!...remember it!! ;)
