I can't wrap my mind around the fact that people still take the stories of the bible literally. The story of the flood, women being turned into pillars of salt, virgin's having babies.......it seems like only stupid or completely ignorant people would believe this stuff but I run into otherwise intelligent people who buy into it. It truly baffles me.

If the uniiverse is less than 10,000 years old then how do you explain the fact that we can see the light from the andromeda galaxy that is 3 million lightyears away, therefore meaning it takes light 3 million years to reach us. How would light be able to make a 3 million year journey if God had only created it 10,000 years ago? There is such a huge amount of evidence that creationism is wrong and there is no evidence that creationism is right. To believe in it is pure stupidity.

It is very interesting to me that New Earth Creationists can expect a single bible verse to hold up against countless reams of testable and repeatable scientific evidence. It tells absolutely nothing, except for a vague concept. Creationists believe the word of the bible with no evidence at all, but demand so much evidence from science. And when they get the evidence, they make a new argument, or challenge the new evidence with an equally ignorant position.

As a Christian I hate to disagree with this but the Earth itself wasn't created during those 6 days. When God says "Let there be light" (Gen 1:3) the Earth is already in existence and we are given 5 characteristics of it (Gen 1:2) Since you cannot successfully measure days without light, anything created before the light cannot be considered a part of a day. Therefore the Earth is not limited to be only 6,000 yrs old.

Point 2, what the hell does it matter that scientist are atheists? does that make them wrong immediatly on everything they say? No it doesnt. Thats a stupid argument. And there's more then carbon dating. Look at all the telescope and satelite images. They also prove the universe and earth are as old as said by science. Im not claiming there is no god, but saying that earth is 10000 years old is ignoring modern science. Next thing u know you're gonna say light doesn't travel at aprox. 300000km/s.

If I apply the same standards of evidence for Creation that I do for Evolution, Creation would not stand a chance. This is a double standard. You ask for more and more evidence, yet we all know how much evidence that is required for you to believe in something you WANT to believe. Evolutionary theorists, most of whom are either atheists or agnostics, are about as open minded as the climate scientists at East Anglia University who "cooked" the books to support their view while silencing the scientists who disagreed with them. Creationist intelligent design? Or God in general? I think the prospects of there being a God is possible. However, the creationist story is completely full of gaps that are not being filled like the quickly filling gaps of transitional fossils. Many extraordinary claims (there are tons) have no extraordinary evidence.

I highly doubt there is a conspiracy going on with scientists (they are not afraid to be incorrect and will adjust if new evidence is brought up). What would be the purpose?

It seems the climate scientists at the Univesity of East Anglia were more than willing to destroy contradictorary evidence, refuse to let their results be peer reviewed, and to cook the books to get the results they wanted. The purpose? The scientist who stepped down stood to lose 20 million dollars in research funds. I suspect he's lost it. That's a lot of motivation.

A russian scientist has proven that new, unlike species can arise from dna carried by light. Its called phantom dna. He turned a frog into a salamander by shining light through a salamander and into a frogs egg. Therefore light can be carried throughout the universe and imprint life wherever is possible. Transitional evidence is easy to recreate. But that doesnt prove there is no god. God is real, but the bible and the rules are questionable after so much alteration.

Evolution is the best explanation for the diversity of life on this planet. Either that or God is a sloppy designer. I wouldn't want to blame that on God. Creation does not explain the diversity of life on Earth, except for God speaking them into being. Evolution goes multiple steps forward explaining more about this than Creationism, by far. When I watch nature videos I don't hear things like: "The good lord has equipped this lion with teeth to rip out an antelopes jugular."

And the dating comment is rubbish, there are TONS of different dating methods that all are used against each other. There is a disgusting amount of evidence for Evolution than creationism.

I do not believe in evolution, but I belive that the day in Genesis 1 is a period of time that is longer than 24 h, because the light in the first day wasn´t the sun. I believe that the First Light was the Glory of Jesus as it also will be in the New Jerusalem rev21:23.

i would lean towards a young earth as well. i think the oldest trees are around 6,000 yrs old, dendrochronology...there are polystrat trees through many layers of strata, which supposedly represent thousands of years of sedimentary deposit...evidence for rapid coalization of wood...evidence against carbon-14 dating system (dating live mollusks which date to thousands of years old)...great flood possible explanation for polystrat trees + sea shells on every mountain, even everest...

I do not know how old the earth is, and I do not think it matters. Some(Christians) say Genesis is poetic; not meaning a literal 6 day creation. Others say Genesis is implying evolution, or long periods of time in the text. While others believe that Genesis is stating the earth was created in 6 literal days...It is interesting to note that St. Augustine and other Christians in early Church history DID NOT believe that Genesis was speaking of literal days of creation.

I never believed that the earth was billions of years old.

Really, I have not ever met anyone billions of years old so that I could ask him or her...go figure!

At least with the Bible we have the Record as given by Almighty God the creator of heaven and earth.

Radiometric dating methods are accurate enough thank you, and in addition to that, ALL short half-life isotopes (half-life less than 80 million years) are missing from earth while longer half-life isotopes are still found. Explanation is simple, short half-life isotopes have decayed away through billions of years.

We should go where evidence points, that is 4,6 billion year old Earth and the fact that we evolved.

The real answer to this should be we don't know. Sure, Adam and Eve were created as mature as well as the wine was as aged however it is very possible that Moses was shown the creation in a series of days while on the mountain for forty days. Remember it discusses the 7 days specifically of him being up there, also he made 3 separate trips.
