This is the original Rapscallion, if anyone remembers me. I feel like a heel for just now finding this out. I knew this man from way back, when he started up Check Point Delta. I remember he had a place before that that all us sim players could gather. He always helped. He set a lot of us up when the gaming industry was in it's infancy. He was truly a philanthropist.
My condolences and my blessings to the family of Mr. Paul Anthony Wenzel, he was truly a great man.
I am so shocked right now. I was looking to see if I could locate Paul and found this. My huband and I met Paul and Sue on a cruise in 1998. We are actually sitting across from the table with in the beach picture. I am in utter shock. We haven't seen them in several years. I found out about Sue a few years back, but now Paul. My heart goes out to his family.
I didn't know the guy, but this is a touching video, and a testament to the fact that this guy had a life full of people who loved him. His life was not lived in vain. He was loved and appreciated. He clearly will be missed, and in that alone he died a rich man.
I first met Rus when i joined his DF2 server "Random Co-ops", awhile before he created the checkpointdelta website. I found him to be a kind, fun and a vary caring person. For many years after we first met we would talk late into the nights while we made your DF maps, helping eachother and just talking in general. I never got the chance to meet him in person, tho we had talked about it many times.
You will be missed old friend, and i shall never forget you.
I logged on to Checkpointdetla one day to find out some information about a game and ended up making a great friend who gave without selfishness or expecting anything in return. I feel like I've known him all my life and I am sadden that I will never get the chance to shake his hand and thank him for all the great things he's done, not only for me but for everyone he's touched in this community. I will miss you Paul, a true friend and hero in my eyes.
I'm at a loss for words. I knew Paul for long time but I never had the privilege or opportunity to meet him in person. We were online buds from the Delta Force Gaming Community. Out friendship went beyond the rigors of gaming and online forums to a personal level. Paul helped me through some tough times in my life and guided me in the right direction. Without his kindness and persistence in my life I'm not sure where I would be today. You will be missed and I will never forget you. (Servant)
