No mention of NSNF at the Jazz cafe gig the night before. Performance as usual was 100% tho intimacy of the venue added to any previous gigs I've been to (La Bataclan 3/07 Musicport 10/07). Important point, rather than commenting on the ban on smoking, was Rachid's take on the difficulty of getting through UK immigration ...Doesn't Hakim's English grand grand grand grandmere count for anything? Musique sans frontier is the way forward. Scotland awaits his debut. Bagpipes and rai will work.
Yes, I've read about his problems when he took the Eurostar. He said the guy there told him they were at war against Arabs ("against you, Arabs"). I felt so bad for him (also because Brazilians are also not being treated well over there so I think I'd pass through the same thing if I decided to visit the UK). The man is a genius and was treated like second class citizen because of his Algerian passport.
I didn't mean to offend, man. I wasn't mentioning what happened to that Brazilian guy who was shot by the police. I was talking about the UK immigration when Brazilians try to go there (either to studying or vacationing).
Oh, so he couldn't have a cig *there*? One more reason to envy you. I'm slightly allergic to smoke so it would have been even better to watch him in such circumstances. Wait, who am I kidding??? I live in Brazil so I'd kill to watch him performing no matter how many cigarettes he smoked during the concert.
Ah,needs to get over to your neck of the woods gig wise it seems.Got some luck seeing here due to Radio3 music awards.Strummers wife presented award.Last time caught show was at Barbi London. From that size venue to the Jazz Cafe Camden, which is tiny, a treat..Hope you get the chance seeing live, sure its on the cards. These things come round i find..Then your get 3 in a row..Cig free venue wishes bests..W
