  • I remember this song when I was a kid back in the early 70's. it still holds up and sound great

  • Can not will not ever get enough of this song!! People in my office may be getting annoyed, but oh well!!!!

  • We played this song in my high school marching band. I had a sax solo where the guitar solo is.

  • One word: AMAZING.

  • i first heard this song in the film lock up with stallone!

man this song just rocks my fav of all time.

25 dislikes? man get some soul and heart.

  • dang i love the horns on this song! I used to blow trumpet in high school. Miss those days.

  • wow still one of the best songs ever

  • Jim Peterik is working out with the horns, carrying the same energy that this song reflected 41 years ago. The sound takes you to a nice place where you want to be. The cromatics in this song are awsome with the harmonic horn power and damn! that guitar solo is n-i-c-e...

  • 24 douchebags still don't get it..and never will

  • Awsome

  • questionable intentions never sounded so good, one of the best musical arrangements ever

  • I have to admit when I listen to this song 30 years ago (or more) I though it was blood sweat and tears....

  • Great music and videoclip! thanks for the upload. Blessings!

  • Best version on YT :)) Thanks ! Gin w/a Grin :)

  • love this song!

  • SOUNDS AS GREAT NOW AS IT DID OVER 40 YEARS AGO; THESE GRANDADS ROCK!

  • I agree what a song.Great rock at its best!

  • Awesome song! We're playing this in our middle school jazz band! I play the trumpet. ;)

    Wonderful performance!

  • This band has a HUGE horn sound, vocals were classically rich and smooth, what a great combination. The guitar solo for this song is one of my all time favorites, just a perfect example of both simplicity and dazzle, no endless jamming, just a crisp and clean statement. These guys had the whole concept right. A great band. Should have been far more successful, many others made it that were not even in the same league.

  • Awesome. Thanks for posting.

  • Nuthin better than good rock horn bands!

  • I Love Chicago too!..."All Transport" Required!

  • i love this song sooo much! We play this at my high school band and it's so fun!!!!

  • The most recognizable opening trumpet rift ever in Chicago music history! John your trumpet is silent now, but your sound will live on forever. You and Gabriel can jam together up there...

  • I don't think this is playback or lip-syncing...it's likely footage from at least two different performances.

  • Dude This SONG FUCKING ROCKS!!!!

    The ENERGY!!!

  • Great memories! My boyfriend at the time had a "black sedan" . So much fun! Thanks for posting jlenz.

  • John Larson your trumpet and spirit will live on everytime they play this song. R.I.P. dear friend...... You made your Morton East class of 67 proud !!!!!

  • John Larson, trumpet player with the Ides of March, died Wednesday September 22, 2011 of complications from cancer in Warsaw, Indiana. He was 61. John joined the group in the late ‘60s and his playing can be heard on the brass-dominated tunes, such as “Vehicle.” A memorial service is being planned for November.

  • I love this Rock song!!!!!

  • What? The singer is white? This whole time...

  • Now this IS music!

  • Yep...this one stands the test of time...still sounds killer after all the years passed

    It´s just what i think

  • @chingondonacimento were they not playing and it was a recording? im lost. and white. heheheee

  • this is good

  • This sounds good but the one i grew up hearing has a faster beat to it.

  • this is the best song in my high school's pep band song list

  • I used to play this before I walked onto the field. It would turn me into a maniac. Just like "Pop Goes the Weasel" did to Curly.

  • Great song, I have it on LP even!

  • GIbson Gold Top...very nice.

  • agree with ya seasoned

  • Easily one of my top ten songs of all time. Did not even know who the artists were for the longest time. Great tune.

  • andy I dig what you're saying but I could name you 1000 better songs in my sleep. Tune's got a nice feel to it though, it comes right at ya.

  • @thinlizzy44 In the year 1970 - There were hardly 10 better songs. This song was king, and today, I dare say short of long winded instrumental bands like Chicago, and 80's types like Earth Wind and FIre, find one today that can even come close to sophisticated compositions like this, with mass appeal like they had. They don't exist.

  • This song is the real deal and what music should be, although I have to thank all the talentless acts for putting out lesser music so classics like this don't get lost in the shuffle.

  • Yeah Baby! This tune is all all about big horn line lne rock! It was always exciting to play it!

  • i'm playing this in my high school band!

  • @toolthirdeye13

WOW, teaching kids the classics. Give your band teacher a firm handshake (if male) or a hug (if female).

  • This song is bona fide. Heard it on the Bored to Death end credits.

  • Heared this song for the first time on the Stallone movie- Locked-up. Loved that song at first "sight"....

  • Music needs more trumpeting, booming horns nowadays.

AndyMartelloComedy was right. This is balls out. It announces one's presence from a distance as it is blared from a car's speakers. I love this song.

And I'm not even much of a rock fan. Can anyone recommend any more songs like this?

  • IMPORT MI6 PLEASE DONT WRONG TERESSA MAY TO SHOUT AT ME PLEASE NIGELBENN

  • i think this song is very fantastic.i love the solo of guitar.

  • I think this song was released on the day my father died, when I was 13. So was "Let it Be." Both are filled with bittersweet memories for me. The driving energy of the song "Vehicle" made me believe that 'life does go on."

  • We played this song last year in my marching band :) We played Takin' It To The Streets, Play That Funky Music White Boy, Vehicle, and Let's Groove :) I miss our show

  • Great song, I have this 45 in my collection.

  • I am from London and 30yr and LOVE this song....dont know when it was out or anything but I know its fantastic

  • outstanding....horns make everything better....

  • @Bombsqd20, the amazing music rthey had back them was because they played with kinds of instrumemnts, not a studio fake machine like these days's Auto Tune.

  • outstanding....

  • The horns make this song.

  • One of my ALL time favs-Great God In Heaven-you KNOW I LOVE THIS SONG!!!

  • Vehicle was one of my Gods! At that time! Gad They are Still MUSIC!

  • I still love this song! Great Friday music!

  • Playing this is in my bands halftime show, its gonna be awesome!

  • I don't care what anyone says. This is one of the ten best rock songs ever.

Balls out, guts & glory, rock & roll.

  • @AndyMartelloComedy damn right, gr8 rock tune, with horns and attitude :)

  • @AndyMartelloComedy Curious: do you esteem the song so highly despite the lyrical content, or have you never examined their meaning?

  • @AndyMartelloComedy best rock song bout a creeper ever. Got to play this in a jazz Competition, was excellent

  • vehicle predates chicago - ergo chicago ist ein rip off

  • @lwdewhirst No it doesn't, "Vehicle" was recorded and released in 1970. Chicago Transit Authority was released April 1969. Blood, Sweat, and Tears were the originators of "marching band rock" putting out two albums before Chicago or Ides were even signed.

  • What's there not to like about this great hit? And its live. Doesn't get any better than this.

  • 22 people are deaf!

  • I love this song. It's great hear it from the original......it's a classic!

  • Brings me back to high school pep rally song(lol). Some rock bands chose brass to blend with their more "traditional" rock 'n roll instruments to create that powerful "wall of sound" that has become the norm nowadays . Others, like Chicago, Chase, Tower of Power also incorporate horns to achieve Phil Spector's style, ( intentionally or unintentionally) just to make hits. Imagine that! It ain't all Chicago and it makes for good listening, in my humble opinion..Not so amazing at all!

  • Those are some tight pants that 50-something year old man is wearing...rock it!

  • i love getting to play this song during pep band

  • Better than Crystal Meth!!!

  • Better than coffee.

  • Great song for pedophiles.

  • @ur1sab All through the song he refers to "woman". If you want great songs for pedophiles see "The Doors" where many of the lyrics mention "little girl"

  • Orgásmica!!!

  • I want the vest the trumpet player has on.

  • Nothing like a good horn section!

  • Playing this song in marching band this year! woohoo!!! its quite rediculously amazingg and suprisingly easy =]

  • somebody please upload tie dye princess i'm beggin' ya

  • 22 people actually listened to the lyrics and thought this was a creeper song. still this song is fucking amazing

  • maybe the best one hit wonder EVER!

  • @ginostats no round and round by ratt is

  • nice chick pants Jim

  • I love this song!!! And definitely love the ending! [:

  • Awesome! better than how my jazz band played it!

  • Incredible! Stoned in the early 70's we danced to this at everyone of our high school dances at the local Catholic Parish Center! Great God in Heaven! Yeah, Bridgewater, Massachusetts!

  • Simply great

  • I think that is Lee Loughnane of the group Chicago on trumpet.

  • @ZenyattaFan1 It sure looks like Lee!

  • @ZenyattaFan1 I was wrong. The guy on trumpet looks a little bit like Lee Loughnane but it's not him.

  • They still sound great! Love this song.

  • RIP Rick Herr. Herr died Tuesday from esophageal cancer.

  • The Ides of March are one of the best reasons to be from Chicago!

  • I'd hit it.

  • I saw the Ides recently play this in a very intimate venue. Blew my mind.

  • @1familyjules

Intimate? Very intimate? Guess you found the star then

  • 21 people have no Elvis in them.

  • @ahz123 thankyou...verrymuch

  • Nice!

  • Ha! I caught that Locked up joke!

  • I always thought they were black.

  • Wow! What a killer live version of this classic tune! Man they all sound so great after all these years - Love the lyrics to this song - "I'm a friendly stranger in a black sedan..."

  • Good LORD! I haven't heard this for, oh, mumbeldy mumble years. Still sound damn good to me.

  • How could anyone "dislike" this? They must be the same people that "like" all the bullshit crap rap that is on the radio these days. It is hard for some people to appreciate REAL musicians that can actually sing and play an instrument on time, on key and without the use of software and autotune to help them sound like they can play! I feel so sorry for the most of the youth of today who will never get to grow up with good music.

  • Outstanding!

  • Every March 15th I reminded of long-suffering Latin studies and this song. Always liked a band with great plumbing.

  • Outstanding Live Version...Wow really enjoyed that.. Jim's pipes sound great, and the horns were outta site....

  • APENAS TENIA UNOS 10 AÑOS CUANDO ESCUCHABA ESTA CANCION Y ME GUSTABA MUCHO, AHORA QUE SOY MADURO RESPETO MUCHO A ESTAS BANDAS LEGANDARIAS QUE INFLUYERON EN NUESTRAS VIDAS.

    GRACIAS .

  • 20 people can't repair the mustang and will remain "Lock(ed) up"

  • The first time I heard this song on the radio I thought the lead singer was black because he was so soulful then my dad told me, the dude's white and that this was during his time my dad even plays this song on his bass guitar.. I LOVE THIS SONG!

  • Awesome performance.......................

  • 18 deaf people watched this
