  • A very calm man. Damned fine pilot.

  • 1:12 Why is that japanese navy flag?

  • LMFAOO i thought he was going to get hit by that truck

  • Man, good job at pilotage. Incredibly lucky you didn't cartwheel when your left wing tip hit the ground. Could not have been done any differently with the same outcome.

  • haha Always With Me Always With You, Joe Satriani playing in the background xD

  • This particular casa never flew again. The reason you are confused is that there are 3 or 4 in the country that are all painted exactly like this one. Nobody fixes jets that are only worth 40,000 in the first place.

  • I showed it to a neighbour of mine that worked on the Hispano Aviacion plant with the electronics of the Saeta when was young. He dropped a tear and then smiled when i told him the plane was flying again...

  • Nice job. He didnt panic or anything.

  • Plane was not a total loss...Its flying again!

  • Poor Saeta Jet.

  • lol@ joe satriani in the background :D:D

  • This was an emergency situation low to the ground, in a jet that was on fire and has no ejection seat. I think the pilot did a pretty damn good job getting it back on the ground safely. It sounds like with all your extensive training in cherokees and tomahawks "NAVAMERICAN" if this ever happens to you while flying a jet in an airshow low to the ground that you will handle it flawlessly. I take comfort in knowing that

  • it is not a super critical high speed wing like you think cvanlier...Saetas are slow jet trainers, Fly/ glide slow and easy..Experimental does not mean difficult to fly. In May of 1988 a 737 was glided with both engines out by hail strikes inside a thunderstorm approaching New Orleans. They glided IFR in the storm from 16,000 feet. At 700 feet Capt. made a 90 turn and landed on soft grass...no injuries, no airplane damages on landing..Airplane still flyes for Southwest Airlines. Google it...

  • Who says I do it only on Tomahawks? I do them on short wing Cherokees. Keep 85 MPH on the 40 deg. turn or I stall if fear or Panic Pull. Fear of this Turnback makes you forget what to do on the first 3-4 ones yu do ...it happened to me...CFI had to remind me a few things i knew already..Fear of the known blocks the mind...Simple...That is why he forgot where the handle to open the cabin was.., forgot to put flaps at low speed, forgot to aligh early on last turn, stalled sideways, wrecking it.

  • Good on you. Get a life.

  • Your experience flying a tomahawk does not give you any right to analyze an emergency situation of this caliber in an expermental military jet that is on fire with a cockpit full of smoke. go choke yourself, you give pilots a bad name

  • "side impact totalled the classic airplane" the plane looked mostly OK until it went up in smoke. I imagine it's all a lot harder with you're pants on fire.

  • Why did you leap forward? What does that do?

  • The plane was moving a lot faster than you think when he jumped off. And when your plane is on fire and you just survived possible death, you will probably do anything to get off the plane.

  • Yes, I agree but I still do not understand why he jumped forwards as he stated he had better control of the situation? In terms of the kintecs, what is the advantage of that procedure (does a person have a better control over his body that tends to continue on its forward motion or . . . . get the question?)

Thanks anyhow for the reply. Cheers

  • better to fall on your hands than onto your back and risk hitting your head, as well as better chance that your not hit by a wing

  • It's a lot easier to stay on you're feet or roll running forwards at 10mph than backwards at 5mph I imagine.

  • OK, that makes sence. Thanks dude = )

  • True skill

  • looked like a crash when he tapped the wing..then he came out of it and did a text book ... bet he will never have to buy a beer again ...that event is a getter !

  • nice landing

  • great emergency landing!!! great pilot tooo!

  • It must be horreble to lose a airplane.. looking it burns.. !!

  • A PRNEDE A VOLAR

  • APRENDE INGLÉS

  • enhorabuena,

  • Amazing...I'd love that feeling of immediate exiting of the a/c just after being in the air....And kick ass music (in the background)! Go Satriani!

  • Very good job! Congratulations!

  • thats rockstar

  • go pilot! great job, very calm

  • I am in awe. The best possible outcome to an absolute worst-case scenario, all thinks to skill, training, experience, and maybe a bit of luck.

    Outstanding skill; what a pilot!!!!

  • FANTASTIC WORK!

  • YOU ARE THE MAN...ALL SKILL.

  • Well Done!!

  • Superb skill!!

  • Awesome pilot

  • VEARY luckey fucker man there was an angel looking arfter him that day....

  • Talk about calm, cool and collected!

  • Angels watching over him

  • you are one heel of a pilot

  • that was a grate landing and you was brave to ump out the plane with it on fire

    GOODJOB

  • Incredible calm, and great skill to get this bird down! Very impressive. Well done!

  • I wonder how it felt in the cockpit

  • Fabulous skills to land this. I wonder how many planes could land after thumping concrete, steer landstrip and even deal with jet's ign-stop, flaps and brakes and the whole thing. Sad to lose an historic fine aircrfat.

  • Well built spanish aircraft, designed by W. Messermiich.

  • wow lol pilot needs a clean pair of pants.

  • I lived in Guymon, OK during the early 90s, and was in attendance at the airshow when this happened. Pretty intense. Kudos to your uncle for ensuring that only the plane was lost. Could've been a lot worse.

  • Hats off to you uncle - that was incredibly skillfull and brave (ice, ice, baby).

  • Amazingly skillfull flying - top-notch

  • i thought he was gona get hit by the fire truck lol that would have been terrible

  • Great Freaking job, amazing flying. Talk about cutting it close, a few more seconds and he would have been completely screwed.

  • That is very sad. Sad to lose an old plane. Thank god he made it out. When he hit the wingtip i thought he would flip over and go in there. Nice move jumping out of a moving plane :)

  • muito bom,parabens!!

  • Fu<ken der su<ken, the planen smokin. He dragin da wingen der grounden jumpen. The smoken der flamen der musta been hottin der weldonen

  • I thought for a sec he messed up jumping off the front of the wing then ducked under! Good job though.

  • wow... very well done

  • happy for the pilot deeply sad for aircraft.

  • Five stars for the pilot, for for the video. Great landing.

  • That was GREAT !

  • lol he jump out of his plane;)good video!!!

  • lol.. looked like he was gna get falttened by the truck racing towards him.. that would be so bad after getting it onto the ground

  • Great job getting her down, but he had to have been just heart-broken watching a rare antique like that burn up.

  • great job,,,I'd fly with you anytime.

  • my thoughts exactly

  • Wow, that's impressive! If I'd been the pilot, I'd have run away from the burning plane faster...

  • cool landing

  • thats pilot with big P.

  • well done sir

  • Man, that was great, you did very well sir !!!! Legend

  • THX kirrev !)

  • Nice flying, well done.

  • Always - Joe Satriani

  • WHAT IS THE SONG CALLED AT 1:36 ???????

    please tel me?

  • the pilot just walkin after falling down was terrific!

  • oww i think there one hot ass in that airplane!!!!auhhahahaah

  • well done. He forgot to light a cigarette while walking towards the burning aircraft :)

  • Very Indiana Jonesish

  • Real Ace

  • I don't know if you are from any place near Liberal KS, but I am from Hugoton KS witch is 30 miles to the west of Liberal. I used to work at the golf course right next to the airport. I'm very glad your uncle was skilled enough to land that aircraft and survive. Great video.

  • I'm glad your Uncle was okay. Excellent job getting onto the ground safe. I'm chuckling at the firemen running right up to the burning plane without the proper protective gear.

  • That plane was developed in spain during the fifties, after a civil war, and when it was suffering international an pollitical isolation because of the Franco's support to germany. I think that's not a very reliable plane.

  • Yes, and you forgot to tell that it was designed by Messerschmitt...

  • Saetas have a very good reliability rate, but it's an old plane. A very nice old plane. It's a shame to see any old plane in flames but I'm glad the pilot made it and landed. Good job. ;)

  • pucker factor 10+

  • it wasn't be a crash, i think :-) They landed without landing flaps, so they were very fast, and that's why the tires turn into flames. But, it's only my opinion.

    Great job! Nice video!

  • Very nice job. Good recovery

  • Awesome footage !!!! I am happy the pilot makes the comments himself.

  • wow! he almost crashed, when the wing hit the ground...

  • Lucky to be alive !!! Some awesome piloting, too, though hitting the ground in flight with a wing....ohh, ohhhh.
