Don't want to sound mean or anything, but your embouchure could use a little work. Your trumpet was tilted. Its not that bad because I only noticed it after watching it twice.
a) He was good but not THAT good... Look up a real jazz musician... Type Maynard Ferguson... And if you were being sarcastic and my entire comment has no relevance go to part b
b)Fuck you for making me write that you sarcastic sadistic bitch
Come on guys. Why do those comments have so many thumbs up??? I'm not even a trumpet player and I know that's a mute....as a layman not sure what kind...I know there's like a billion different types of them...but I know for damn sure it's not a "hat".
To clear the problem about the parasite on his trumpet. It is called a Harmon Mute. He is using it without the stem in. If you have the stem in, the sound is a lot more muffled. For another example of the Harmon Mute, look up, "All Blues" Miles Davis
@krawlings117 oh than you should try competely cleaning them than re oiling, but if that doesnt work take it to your local music shop....they will tell you whats wrong with it and if they are not jerks they will fix it for free
@TySmellMyFart1 The reason for that is because he wasn't holding it correctly when he first started out and no one corrected him. Even so he still plays good music, and I don't think you can play that...
You play very well. I am a trumpet player myself and it's just that you hold your trumpet in an owkward position with your left hand. Did you start out playing like that?
your playing is good, just one thing, you need to hold the trumpet right to align you auwmisher to the mouth pice, so your dinamics wont flow all around the place, also so you can operate both e and the d tuning slides.
@JakeSwallowTV Do you think I was being serious? One, I know that's not why he was holding it that way, two, it's a trumpet, so it's not 'cool' anyway and three you're always better off looking cool while you're playing music, than not. I would never hold a pistol on the side (if I ever shot one) it was a joke. You're the one telling someone who is clearly proficient in playing the trumpet the 'mistakes' he's making, get a grip and a sense of humour.
@JakeSwallowTV Please do not comment on things that you obviously know nothing about. 1) Embouchure* 2) Dynamics* and 3) They are called 1st and 3rd valve tuning slides. This is because they are used for much more then just E and D. Like seriously, "auwmisher"? thats not even close!
@bobcatbandman12 I dont pretend I'm an expert on technique, but I'd say its probably rotated a little farther than normal, but it makes little difference in any case.
What I am more concerned about is how clenched the left hand looks. It might make using the 3rd valve slide a little more difficult (which you didnt use at all incidentally). However I agree with playing Tetris without the harmon mute's stem.
@TheMsPrincessCat if you knew anything about music or have ever been in a band you would know that its a MUTE to make the sound of your trumpet different. Ex: i hav a mute that makes my trumpet play a high pitched cartoon sound.
I just recently got a harmon and have been looking for some fun things to play with it this is awesome!
