@MuslimLoveJewishCock BB wasn't bitching. He was setting the record straight from his perspective. Spector may have worked like an animal and he certainly earned a lot of money. He also cheated, exploited, dehumanized, and straight up ripped off many artists. He treated a lot of decent people like dogshit but also treated other people well. His inability to revel in the talent and success of others, even when he played a hand in it, is very pitiful. Great producer. Human?
@mortald "Shoe salesmen and drug addicts." It's a real insult to talk about the people who run the music business that way. An insult, that is, to shoe salesman and drug addicts.
@lrush777 Bumps was feeling his bumps ..He was just jealous..listen if black producers had something better ,then nobody stopped them..The fact is Spector had and wrote better songs with a better sound that were more marketable..To say Phil stole music is just dumb.Every music influences ..White music influences black, to say otherwise it just bigotry and black blindness.
@lrush777 The P. Diddy analogy is right on. One difference though: At least Spector provided us with some music that is authentic, soulful, and speaks to the human condition. P. Diddy is a master marketer, businessman, and promoter. His productions are lightweight and the music he makes is akin to Velveeta. I have never heard him say one thing that was insightful or interesting. He's perfect for the age of stupidification we are living in and the superficial cultural productions that abound.
Yeah, no doubt this Bumps was feeling outclassed -- like a major inferiority complex. I do like the chicken/goose egg bit! But given that his biggest hit was Cook's "You Send Me," you can easily understand how he felt outclassed by a guy as innovative as Spector was.
he may not be famous (bumps) but he produced sam cook and his work was incredible, not a big fan of little richard but still he does have a bit of a point with his egg analogy. not to say spector wasn't great, but his marketing made it better for sure. Right on
I am quite surprised by Robert Blackwell's interview but the man is entitled to his opinion. early little richard production speaks for itself and sam cooke's music melts my heart. I still love Phil's music though.
Bitter much "Bumps"? The story this guy could probably tell us about his mother! Sheesh! I was born in '58 and until the murder was not aware of Phil Spector ( I had heard his music, but I have never heard of "Bumps". Maybe you should have used another name, like "huge eyes".

Bump was so right, Phil was highly over rated.. He was like a P . Diddy of the 60's.

Spector is a psychopath who will rot in prison. Bravo!! Perhaps I will be living in the Pyrennese castle, sometime soon.

Phil Specter was just highly over rated period. "Almost Grown up" sounds like a Chuck Berry song.
lrush777 2 years ago
Bastards! Both of you! No one can produce like Phil!

@lrush777 its "all grown up" and duh they all borrowed licks from eachother

"All Grown Up " was the last Crystals 45 on Philles in 1964 not the last Philles record as Rodney states.
