Wow some of you all need to do research. The house was rented to film at..the owners were put up in a hotel. The owners later sold the house and the new owners moved it to Kingsland outside of Houston and is now a restaurant. Why would you now eat there? The actual murders did not happen there. The movie is loosely based on Ed Gein who lived in Wisconsin! Which is far from Texas

The movies, specifically the remakes are a load of crap, trust me the only thing that the movies had in common with the real life case of Ed Gein or "Leatherface" as known in the movie is that they both wore human faces. In the beginning of one of the remakes(I cant remember which one), it states that "these events were inspired by the case of Ed Gein", but for some reason people seem to replace the word inspired with based, two totally different things.
