  • They might have flow, but if you read the lyrics, they are pretty damn awful.

  • @Arsenelupin3 LOL. Yeah most 90's rap songs lacked a lot of meaning.

  • Sounds like 3rd Bass

  • Young Black Teenagers would have been an awesome name if they were like "We picked the name because its funny" but their downfall was all that shit about "Black is a state of mind"... FAIL. But this joint was definitely the jam!!!

  • Shit im tappin the bottle n twistin the cap on a brass monkey rite now!

  • this was never the jam back then, im an old hiphop head this was trash when it came out and all this group is known for is dj scribble getting on mtv and the lame wigger in house party 2, u people kill me

  • way before eminum .......f^^k yeah

  • They must be secretly black cause they can rap good

  • Must have thought it was white boy day.

It ain't white boy day, is it?

  • 1992 wtf!!!!damn im old.smh.

  • "Young Black Teenagers" Ooooooooooooooooooooooookay!!!

  • @breezwonder GTFO Newfag

  • @breezwonder haha, my sentiments exactly :)

  • sounds so much like Onyx. Attack of the baaaald hedz!

  • These white boys can rap

  • anyone remember A.D.O.R. ???he was white but didnt go that far, but everyone remembers Let it All Hang Out produced by Pete Rock....and there was some guy named Whitey Don who was in the i dont know what the fuck this guy did but he disapeared and another guy calle Renegade Jew!!!! i swear look him up and the crew down with Eazy E ...Blood of Abraham...

  • anyone know what they did after this??besides DJ Scribble who's career lasted a little longer i guess...

  • this one was the shit. So what they not black, this was be4 the gangsta crap came out. Now it's all brag, sex, drugs, and kill

  • @lastwraith

Are you kidding me, this group is just incredibly awful and silly.

the only good thing about this piece of junk is DJ Skribble.

  • crazy jams in barcelona back then..jumping till the ceiling

  • íí be fasza!

  • Makes me wanna swig a 40

  • これかっこいいなぁ

    aweseomevid

  • man! sure nice to hear this song again. brought back happy memories...

  • The 40oz selection hasn't changed much over the years. Why is that?

  • Temazo!!!

  • still my theme music!!!

  • Too much spinning.....

  • in 92 i was 16 getting FUCKED UP to this song. so many memories.

  • @scheemadruci

    19 here and hell yeahhhhhhhhhhh

  • "Despite their name, the Young Black Teenagers (YBT) weren't ethnically black at all -- four of them were white, and another of Puerto Rican descent. The concept struck some in the hip-hop community as ridiculous and even offensive, but the group was sincerely attempting to pay tribute to the black culture they loved and identified with"

sorry but that's just fuckin stupid

    good song tho

  • @sheyemmy "Black Culture"?!!!!!!!!!!!!!! a song about drinking a 40?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I could dis you but I won't, I'll just livicate this reply to Denmark Vesey, Henry "Box" Brown, MLK, Malcolm X, Bobby Seale, Haile Selassie, Sundiata Keita, Queen Candace, Marcus Garvey, The Maroons, The Deacons for Defense, and own dear friend Dr. Robert Steele Collier.

  • @LGofRPM if you actually read what he said..you would have realised that he also said that it was riciculous, and he thought it was stupid. he took the quote from wikipedia, it wasnt his own words.

  • ......before Eminem.......

  • Dead Serious came out in April of 92.

FU came out in Feb. of 92.

It's safe to say that they were doing the style at the same time long before either put out a record.

  • And here I thought minstrel shows were over.

  • hers a quote from wiki you fucking troll "From the time of their debut in 1992 to 1993, several elements of their style were adopted by other hip-hop artists, including the Lords of the Underground, The Fu-Schnickens, Kris Kross, Common and even, to a lesser extent, Public Enemy".

you're a fucking looser. quit messaging me

  • Wow, havent heard this since I was 15.

  • THIS @LipstickNPistol is YBT's "Tap The Bottle &..." yadda yadda yadda

  • yeah they were a das efx knock off

  • @MrPatrickedwards no...they were not, uneducated one. u obviously werent down with real hip hop in 93 or you wouldnt say something so ignorant :)

  • @LASVEGASGHETTO no you are the one thats uneducated, Lords of the underground, fu shnickens, these guys also bit das efx's style. Das efx came out in 92 fool.

  • @MrPatrickedwards none of those groups are similar...except that their real hip hop...they each have their own unique style that is nothing like the others...u should pay attention to detail more...u might learn something newb........

  • @MrPatrickedwards lotu & fu schnickens bit das efx??? u clown...fu schnickens cd came out before das efx....DUMB ASS....that proves u wasnt down when the shit came out...i was....thank u very much :) HERB........

  • @MrPatrickedwards actually they flipped that style before Das Efx did, and before this album was made, this was their second , ints just not the style ran with, but facts are YBT was the very first to spit a verse that way, but that was Das' style the whole way

  • @MrPatrickedwards ybt's first album, produced by the bomb squad, came out in 1991, pre-dating das. it was a self titled l.p. , the cover mocking (or honoring) the beatles. if it was released in 91, they had been writing it since at least 90, probably 89. i can't recall a single bom skiggedy bom diggedy from ybt. das were discovered by epmd, who were judging a talent show, while the controversy over ybt's name was already in full effect. no big deal, i'm just sayin....

  • so tap the bottle

    :]

  • Though they were/are/maybe still good. They are still a wanna-be Beastie Boy group.

  • @MessIahmake yer confused kid. quit watchin real videos if u aint real...cuz u just soundin stupid...

  • @LASVEGASGHETTO HAHA, listen to yourself, KID.

  • Yo guys...

everyone's black, when the lights are off.

  • @BabyJthe1 Thats what i tell the white girls... lol

  • @BabyJthe1 I don't know,...I am Irish and I kind of glow,..

  • Black????????

  • dude at 0:37 and the verse after is my reason for watching this video man.but this still is a great song tho

  • uhh its time for them to make a time to make the donuts video

  • OH man.. I loved this when I was a young fella!

watching it now, the guy with dreads looks and sounds like Shaggy2 Dope.. hahaha

  • fuckin real g's

  • Catchy hook that is all.

  • Damn, it's 2011 & muthafukas talking about why they called 'Young Black Teenagers. ' It's just a name & this song will fit right along into the flow of what is supposed to be rap nowadays. This was one of many jams back in the day, and was respected & pumped out everybody's ride...REGARDLESS if they were white or black. Biting styles or whatever, how many of today's rap artists do it?? Quite a few.

  • there rap styles r a bite of chip fu, das efx and leaders of the new school

  • from wikipedia: "Despite their name, none of the group was black. They intended their name as a tribute to the black culture they were influenced by, but some thought their name offensive or ridiculous".

    I guess it's a very respectful name.

  • Who doesn't remember those days back in the 90's in JUAREZ ----> XO and Sarawak.

  • supposedly they stole this hook and dissed cat. who made it.

they killed themselves with their name they would of been relevant if they had used actual intelligence to come up with a real name.

  • i like it but is it just me who thinks there biting a few peeps style

  • young wannabe black teenagers....

  • @stevehound76 they got more soul then you will ever have!!! : D

  • man i miss 90's REAL hip hop !! not this gay ass lil wayne soulja boy crap thats around now

  • Now if only real wiggers were this good.

  • They play this song at the skate park. :D (Square One Skatepark) Charleston SC

  • hell yeah!!! im in a 90's hip hop mood today

  • Thumbs up if u listen to this in 2011

  • @tamas8327 29 ppl drink wine coolers

  • @tamas8327 Thumbs up if you're so sicking tired of ''Thumbs up if you're listening to this in 2011 comments'' Btw.. I don't need thumbs up.. I'm just so frigging annoyed by seeing it on every vid that's over a year old.

  • @LakrezSSL u miserable git

  • @fatherjack37 Now I realise you're one of them too

  • @fatherjack37 I don't care eaither about when I am watching this... you little Thumbs up horny thing

  • @tamas8327 I heard a small sound byte that I recognized, and I mean SMALL soundbyte, and it made me automatically think of this.

  • @tamas8327 enough with copying other peoples comments and asking for thumbs up. why the fuck should you even care about thumbs up.

  • these guys go hard man! like the song

  • I've been looking for this group for a while. All I had on memory was "white rap group who claim that blackness is a state of mind, and not about skin color"

  • Damn...i want a 40 oz now

  • OMG THIS SONG IS STILL THE SHIT!!!

  • yo me crie con estos temas al igual que incubus o naugthy by nature o house of pain esto es la vieja escuela y que se callen los que bienen detras

  • They're like the less famous Beastie Boys

  • Onyx style.

  • @biomecaNICK I believe This was out before Onyx. this was 92, Onyx 93

  • @alburd1 onyx = 90.

  • @biomecaNICK Onyx's biggest hit slam came out in 93. When they formed is beyond me. But this track hit before Onyx made it big with Slam

  • doremi fasola dobra nawija

  • ya blind is like beastie boys

  • i soo love this song... i miss this music

  • Always thought they were pretty good. BUT The name sucked! They are not black, its offensive to both races in my opinion. I bought this album actually this was about the only good song. Kinda like N2Deep back to da hotel

  • Dope.

  • This shit was wack then and it still is now.

  • @jancrow23 Thank you for your contribution... how many times did you watch this vid?

  • That was my shit!!

  • I dont like most rap music, because it lost it's direction. This song is what it should be. I love this song.

  • @s8kruz check out Rhymesayers Entertainment. they have many rap/hiphop artists that are heading the music in the right direction.

  • That mafucka w/ the dreads was in house party 2 lol

  • hahaha yo somebody crept into the black forest and got lost

  • The dude with the dreads was on the movie class act

  • @TheChrisrael U mean house party 2 lol

  • who gives a shit this this pretty dope

  • C L A S S I C!!!

  • these guys are a fuckin gimmick.biting das efx, black sheeplords of the underground etc. smh.i know someone taught them to rhyme

  • wrong!! chuck never GAVE the name, we created it with Hank Shocklee our producer..AND check when DAS came out,we were ripping shit doing free style shows banging this style LOOONG before DAS EFX.....WE were boot stomping NYC and wrecking shit for years......

  • This if a frikin' terrible, Das EFX style-biting frat boy hip-hop disaster. But to be fair to them, Chuck D gave them the name, would you turn that down?

  • El cassette of mah mind se me regreso a 1994 n i was singin tap the battle twist the cap!!!! jaja q recuerdos i miss mah pulgarsito de amerika!!

  • Um I have to disagree with the video description..... What rap once was?? It wasn't a group of white boys trying to act and be black rapping about tappin 40's soorrryyyyyyy!!! What rap once was about the struggle out of the ghetto (grandmaster flash & the furious five, afrika bambatta & the Zulu nation, have fun and partying... Run DMC, the Beastie Boys (yes they were white and Jewish and still are rocking today!!! So I'm sorry rap was not once Young Black Teenagers, and it's that portrayal tha

  • @soniaandray RAP was about all ghettos all streets all culture....Yes <<happy ryhmes and battles is what we all did on the come up. But as it evolved, It also was Tappin 40's etc..As we were hanging with Ice cube and he asked us to Tap a bottle for his Homies back in 90 when e recorded our first album and He was recording Amerikkas most wantes...Peace Tommy Never YBT original...

  • @soniaandray Maybe rap has been A LOT OF THINGS???

(just like every single other genre)

  • dlaczego takich czasów już nie ma to był Prawdziwy HH

  • they are white

  • I just threw down a couple 6-steps with my boys to this tonight ;) keeping hip-hop alive!

  • That brings me back:)

  • their second album is classic

  • Its too bad that their name held them back. They held their own in skills at the time but their name was too over the top for a lot of people. I believe that had they chosen a name less controversial they would have made a bigger mark on the scene, and might even still be around today. I was never a ybt fan but I think they deserved a bit more respect than what they got.

  • this is hip hop...but is a got damn rip of fushnikens, das effects, whatever...

  • Anyone know if this is on itunes? Can't find it!

  • WAIT WHY ARE THEY WHITE?

  • @thebayareapimp does it make a difference

  • I really didn't think the song was half bad at the time, but than I read the group's name and I was like WTF...lol

  • i dont see one black teenager? lol whats up with the name?

  • @MoolahDough according to an interview they did with MTV "being black is a state of mind"

  • @MoolahDough It was intended as a tribute to black youth, though some black people found it offensive.

  • @sinminopuedes yea i find it offensive personally

  • @MoolahDough according 2 the band they said be black was a state of mind

  • @MoolahDough it was a tribue to black culture.

  • Comment removed

  • @MoolahDough its ironic they are all 30 year old white men

  • @MoolahDough They were joking around with what the stereotype of a rap crew were....

at the time! now I'd say the stereotypical rap crew is men of any colour in their 20s with a black dj. : )

  • @MoolahDough YBT chose the name, not as a race, but a state of mind.

  • Comment removed

  • @MoolahDough there teens but there black so there physically more advanced than your average person =D hope that helps

  • @MoolahDough chuck d from public enemy gave them their name. aint that some shit?

  • @ThatNiggaFree

Your so right, I Hated this group, a disgrace, thank god they broke who cares.

  • @MoolahDough they believed being "black" is more than a color of race but a state of mind....sounds like a good excuse for being wiggers but i love this shit still

  • God this was awful.. n no one say nuthin cuz I was actually there to remember this. It was nothing more than a glorified 40oz song. But if u like drinking 40's and walking up on the sidewalk, im sure u had no problem with that shit.

  • these cats were cool, man... part of what made me want to MC, the first album... what up tommy never? peep my song GONE BEFORE TOMORRW by OBNOKSHUS... on youtube... big YBT fan ...

  • @piGfuK3r Thanks Playa ,,, Peace Tommy Never original YBT crew!!

  • wasnt dj skribble in this team

  • @nicoyanicoya Yes!

  • im blaxiacanoricanguan

  • i love this shit.. this was when "jump" songz was in!! check the era.. jump around was the shit..still is!!AND this group was a rESPONSE!! if im not mistaken Russell Simmons had somethin to do with this? mayb wrong..wasnt know TWITTER in the early 90's SOURCE mag, and the small local rags..DONT YA MISS THEM DAYS!! haha

    yourpopcultureoralhistorian! haha

  • Memories of drinkin 40's in the park in brooklyn, then we moved up to the 64oz hahah, remember the st ides and fruit punch, im rockin a 40 now ballantine ale xxx

  • Decent song, but I have to quote the great JuJu:

"Now punk niggaz wanna test me

But all that tiggity-tiggity tongue-twistin' shit don't impress me"

I believe quality trumps quantity every time and it seems as though these young MCs were trying to fit in as many syllables as possible regardless of word play, metaphors, flow, etc.

    3 out of 5.

  • young black teenagers rocked new school need to take notes from this track and so many other great old school hits lil wayne, drake, souljah boy are whack ass

  • Dope upload- the white kid w/ dreds from House Party rap crew.

I can't front these kids had one of the best marketing concepts ever.lol

  • Old school rocks ^^

  • wow thanx for posting...dayim rememba this jam ole skool hip hop...lol muj love NZ Aotearoa chuurrz

  • " We'll I be coming around the mountain with my Ol' Suzana" .. LOL

I remember dring the OL' E days and jammin' to this song and having lots of mints cause the breath would be nasty bad. The girly's didnt like that, but yea this was a good one to get the party crunk !!

  • I remember getting down to this song. When I ws in Basic training there was a black dude that argued with me that this was Onyx, but I know my old school rap. And Im little white girl from Kansas! Now in Colorado (This is on my husbands acct. that I commented on)

  • this was my shit in 92

  • Ohhhhh...this is my $hit!!

  • young white 20 somthings

  • 23 ppl are racist

  • ......and wu-tang aint asian......this track is alrite!

  • Have them jam with Salt n Pepa - have the whole 1993 chip shop hip hop

  • nice!!! cherck it i discovered this song crate digging when my pops gave me his technics for xmas... now this is like one of my fav songs... good shit!

  • it's funny that their name is Young Black Teenagers when they're all white

  • @lyricsfromsweden I Said the same thing but in a interview these fools said that black was not a color but a feeling or something like that..haha..fools..

  • lmao I remember this from high school

  • This is rap when it was actually good. Now it is mostly garbage. Back then people told stories through their music. Now they show Butts, cars, shiny objects, ugly men, and rude conscepts.

  • I find it funny that a bunch of white kids named their group Young Black Teenagers, but this was back when white rappers were few and far between, and their style is still fresh, if you ever find their first self-titled album, they were more serious about racial issues and politics back in 1991

  • AWESOME!!!!

  • More than a classic, this video is a missing link....

  • Oh this was my shit back in the days (dont drink it to slow before you catch the steel toe)I dont give a fuck if these fuckers was white they could be microniesian for all I care this song is tight as shit
