no seriously...unless i misheard him claudio said on the Neverender Documentary that he brought in the guy (whatever his name is) who played the additional percussion on the album to do night 3 of Neverender...i guess they just kept him around.
i think the bongos and stuff goes really well with this sound and the whole concept of Bonnaroo, Mic really shined also because his bass was really front and center the whole time! Long live the 'Heed!!
do you want to know what i really hate about music, well its music fans constantly bitching over how they think a band or artist should progress and if they do something that isnt exactly to their taste then they conplain, take the example of metallica and their move from thrash with master of puppets to heavy metal with the black album.
For christ sake enjoy the experimentation instead of trying to control the band. basically if you dont approch music with an open mind you can just piss off
coheed is coheed.. simple as that.. theres no need to dissect each band member and the band itself.. just appreciate that they are a band and they exist in our time.. and most important they make music that you & I can enjoy for an entire lifetime.
josh made his choice. his and mic's problems almost single-handedly ended coheed. though i agree that josh was a better drummer, he brought too many problems to the band. i don't think they "settled" for chris pennie. imo, he's an excellent drummer. but he'll never be josh eppard.
don't take this offensively, but i feel the opposite. josh was an excellent drummer, but i think chris is more talented. he showed that he knows how to play very technical, fast, jazz influenced drums with the dillinger escape plan. don't get me wrong; coheed plays very technical music. claudio is one of the greatest guitarists and songwriters that ever lived. but the music doesn't really show off the kinds of things that chris can do.
Pennie is every bit as good as Josh. He is a more technical drummer, but Josh did have some songs that sounded better. The key here is that Coheed did not lose Mic. Would be kind of hard to lose the best bassist in music and survive.
well, josh is a great drummer, but i think chris is better, just listen to the neverender version of welcome home or time consumer. they are both awesome, and i think that chris did a great job at bringing his style to the mix.
really? coheed and bongo's? c'mon.. what happened to good coheed.. hate to say it but since josh isn't there anymore this band has gone downhill.. go ahead attack me but old school coheed fans know what i mean
well im an old school fan, and i like it, chris and all the additions to the band make the songs sound so much better, just listen to neverender night 1
Really ? Come on, what happened to good comments ? Hate to say it but since so many people concentrate on one event or show to say a band is completly different really tire me. WTH are you all (what ? You REALLY care the guy has a blue t-shirt ?) obsessed with the bongos ? Dammit, just listen the new vision, appreciate the work, and LISTEN TO this fucking ROCK !
i never said my problem was this "one event or show".. as i said it's been "since josh isn't there anymore".. and yeah i focus on bongo's because it's all i can hear through my speakers.. "rock" is when claudio had a buzzcut and only cared about the music.. anybody remember the story that was "coheed and cambria" they have completely abandoned that now..
you are ignorant for assuming you actually know me, and also for taking my comment out of context.. i was referring to the OLD coheed and timeframe of when they were best when i mentioned his hair.. buzzcut "AND" cared.. and is a big word there pal.. not buzzcut "that made him" care..
You didn't read enough of Bonaroo2009 comments ;) But I really don't blame you at all for this, I often wonder why I read them anyway. Forget this blue t-shirt lol. The problem remains the same : What is old C&C ? They have four complete studio albums. I don't get it. The sound of bongos is to me perfect with IV vol1 which is the more "bluesy". The old C&C is still here, man, just put TSSTB in your CD player ! Stop regretting C&C's discovering, it happens with ALL bands you listen to. Be open !
im a fan of both their new and old stuff so what category do i come under. anyway i do agree that their new stuff is different to second stage turbine blade and IKSE but its experimentation im dissappointed in you as a coheed fan who isnt willing to open himself up to musical exploration for shame

the added percussion was actually on the album...so technically it isnt taking away from the sound at all

if anything, it adds to the overall sound live. It just sounds weird because of the shitty internet feed.

Wow you are ignorant. So now someone's hair length determines whether they care about music? You're really closed minded...

well, as long as they are still called "coheed and cambria" i think the story is still there.
and coheed could drop all other instruments and just make a vocals + bongo album and it would still rock.

and who said anything about a blue t-shirt?
