If you watch another video with the man in to you can see they say the same things but slightly different. For example in this video the woman says her husband is in a wheel chair, and in the video with the man the man says his wife is in a wheelchair. HMM that makes no since.

He (or it) is'nt be remotely controlled by someone. It is following a computer program wrote for this performance. The same as there is software that you can run on your pc that allows you to speak to your computer and the words come up on a word processor or something, when the presenter says certain words this instructs the robot to do something such as kick the ball etc, so she must follow a memorised script.

a couple years back, i read something that said asimo is controlled by people that are in another room. they control his movements, sight, and voice. is this true? the demonstarter said that asimo could be in homes all around doing chores. who would be controlling it then? has its technology been changing since 2004 (i think) to where it doesn't require engineers to control it?

Some new thig I noticed about asimo from 2000 to now

1. They now walk more like human

2. Voice chat

3. They can run and balance better

4. Smooth movement (not shaking much like before)

There have been many studies, some that the ASIMO team themselves have run, that if the robot looks human, people become scared and unable to accept it. However when the robot looks as ASIMO does, humanoid, the general consensus is more welcoming. I do agree with you. To accept it, it needs to look humanoid and not like, say the brave little toaster.

Yes we do have bomb disarming robots. But maybe the simple movements and such are STEPS into making a more advanced robot. It's like an infant, you can't just give a wrench and hammer to a baby and expect it to build the Rover Space Station. A baby still has to learn basic movements and such and replicating that using technology is not an easy task. And how do you know they don't understand it?
