AKG K 701 - Worth it? What about Q 701?

@MrZeJohn Q701 is just a K701 colored differently for a whole lot of extra money. Just get the K701s or K702s if you want, they're pretty good.

@MrZeJohn Yeah, they cost the same amount of money on Amazon. I'm in the Netherlands, though, and when I wanted to buy them there, shipping and handling and import fees cost me about 130 bucks, that's a bit much considering the headphones only cost 230 bucks or so. The Q701s are more like the K702s than they are like the K701s, though, the K702s have a detachable cable, that's pretty much the only difference between the 701s and the 702s, audio quality's exactly the same on all of them.

Auditioned the Fostex HP-P1 yesterday and it made my 10 year old MDR-V6 ($60) come alive more so compare to B&W P5 ($300) straight with iPhone. Was very tempted to buy it at $500, but I knew more like it will come as Apple release the digital ability to manufactures and prices will drop! Boy I'm glad I waited!

Too expensive for a case... I would rather get a Fioo e7 and a normal batter case, save 200+ dollars and wouldn't over double the thickness of your phone, AND SAYING ALYOOMINIUM IS MORE FUUUN.

My view on it is people looking for fantastic portable audio will not be using an iPhone and by slapping on a massive thing on the back of your phone is not very appealing to most people. Your right I have not tried it however the form factor of the product will be dreadful for most people. Sorry if this has annoyed you Quinn the last thing I want to do is upset my favourite tech reviewer. :(

Twice as thick, twice the price. Only a crazy person would buy this. I'd be interested in a scientific test to see how much of the population(especially those who consider themselves audiophiles) can actually differentiate the iPhone jack or a dad's sound quality.
