It's important to remember that tuishou is an *exercise.* It's not martial application, nor is it something above and beyond being an exercise. It's meant to help both parties understand and learn the inner dynamics of movement. That's important later in applications, but tuishou all by itself is not the sine quo non of taiji practice and shouldn't be understood that way.

one old man claimed he practicing taiji
for 35 years, he liked to test other martial art instructor to push him, he so proud claimed no one can push him,
i noticed he can take i push and pull , but... when i hold him and twisted him
in circle, he cannot stand firm and follow my twisting dancing in my circle,
i don't believe push hand now
