Latvia and other Baltic states are part of NATO. Our soldiers fighting in Iraq is our qountries investment in our independence. We help our allies and hope they will help us if such day comes.

@kickitable Part of NATO obligations is to participate in international operations, besides US is using Riga ports to load military cargo and materials that are transported to afghanistan thus our goverment is recieving a lot of money for letting them do that.

At every one given time there is an Aircraft overhead flying CAS in support of a single unit. Over Iraq, it takes a minimal of five seconds to turn on FLIR and to press the trigger :)
