Democracy ideologies are not a one size fits all type of policy. It is great to have a proper intellectual people as opposition who talk "sense" and "truth", who back it up with real facts and willing to fight it out in court if they believe in it so much. Singapore is open and information flows freely in Singapore, especially through the internet and no flame can be covered well in Singapore.That being said, no Goverment is perfect and mistakes can be made.

@EricSHP There is no way to restrict information now that internet is available. The press has been reporting on both sides of the opposition and the government, even valid and strong rebuttals from opposition. You can say anything you want, so long as you are responsible and truthful (with hard evidence) to what you say. If you want to listen to Chee Soon Juan, you can easily go online to watch YouTube. Whether you believe him is another matter all together.

@EricSHP In America, you can say anything about anyone even if its fabricated. Is it fair that someone accuses you of wrong-doing and destroys your reputation with hearsay or fabricated information ? Would you want legal recourse to prove that the evidence is wrong? Freedom is also freedom to defend yourself. Check Facebook and YouTube and see how Singaporeans are also reacting strongly to both camps party pages and you know information can no longer be restricted.

Foreigners from developed countries are drawn to jobs in finance, shipping and at corporate regional headquarters.

Far from scaring them off, Singapore's tough law-and-order policies tend to attract many expatriate families n other visitors.

I don't think Pres Oama will bother about Chee because Obama has already been to Singapore for the APEC meeting. Singapore showcased the Marina Sands, Marina Bay, CBD, Suntec City, the city streets, cleanliness, shopping malls, our disciplined and well-educated people and the efficiency of even the cleaners and service people who keep Singapore spick and span.

are you aware that the SDP Party that Chee is heading now is because he ousted the founding partry leader, Mr Chiam See Tong and Chee's mentor. The former invited Chee into the party without any inkling that in a matter of time that his protege would 'bite the hand that fed' him'.

Ask the Singaporean.. why we don't trust Chee. If we can't trust him with our govt research fund which he dipped into for his wife's personal work, how can we trust hime our our state money?

Well, being an intellectual, Pres Obama knows more than you think that he knows. He must've an analysis of CSJ's character and past record through his own CIA men. Gosh! Am I glad I found this clip! What a horrid man this Chee is for such distorted views of Singapore!! As a Singaporean ,I believe that to get the whole truth of how we view this man, do come over to Singapore and interview the man-in-the-street, young, old, poor and needy.and ask why they keep electing a trusted govt. We are free to vote and we don't want him. Singaporeans give Chee's SDP party a strong miss. He always gets the lowest votes-15%!! Singaporeans  know his past record.

Chee wouldn't know Democracy if it grew fangs and bit his ass ! This man is so dumb he can't tell his ass from his elbow . He does NOT speak for Singaporeans . That he can say his peace online and not be censored by the government is proof enough that this pedant has no clue what he's talking about ! I think they should just bend the rules and let him run for public office just so that we Singaporeans show him how what we REALLY think about him .
